The mission of the International Journal of Literature and Language Studies (IJLLS) is to provide readers with the development of language studies in linguistics and literature. In addition to manuscripts that center on the study, we welcome manuscripts on a wide range of topics relating to the technology used for language development, cultural impact on languages, computational linguistics, and philosophy of language. IJLLS publishes scholarly conceptual, theoretical, and empirical manuscripts on the study of language and focused on literature and linguistic analysis and development. Submissions to the journal should be readable and understandable by a wide audience. Manuscripts should therefore also focus on analysis or illustration of the issues covered, rather than merely providing a mathematical or technical coverage, which would be more suitable for a specialist journal. All manuscripts are submitted and reviewed electronically. We provide our published authors with both a quality publication and the widespread readership that comes from publishing all manuscripts online within a few weeks of acceptance. This approach ensures that published works are read and cited by the widest possible audience.

Abstract

This article presents a comparative analysis of the female concept in the works of O‘tkir Hoshimov and Margaret Drabble. The study examines the representation of women from cultural, social, and psychological perspectives, focusing on themes such as motherhood, female identity, moral values, and personal autonomy. Through the analysis of selected works, the research reveals that Hoshimov portrays women primarily as symbols of family, sacrifice, and spiritual resilience, whereas Drabble emphasizes women’s individuality, self-realization, and intellectual independence. Despite differences in cultural and ideological contexts, both writers depict women as complex and multidimensional figures whose experiences reflect broader social transformations and human values. The findings demonstrate that the female concept occupies a central position in the artistic worldviews of both authors and serves as an important means of expressing cultural identity and social change.

Abstract

ABSTRACT. This article provides a scientific and theoretical analysis of the role of the principle of sociality in defining the genre of a work of art on a historical theme. Specifically, the criteria for determining genres within the dramatic form are re-examined using the example of Makhsud Shaykhzoda's work "Jaloliddin Manguberdi." The study argues that the work belongs to the genre of drama, not tragedy, based on the character of its social reality, the nature of its conflict, and the relationship between historical truth and artistic invention. Additionally, existing views in literary criticism are critically analyzed, and it is substantiated that the protagonist's fate and social turning points are decisive factors in defining the genre.

Abstract

Abstract. This article examines gastronomic units (gastronyms) in Uzbek folk proverbs from a linguocultural and axiological perspective. The study is based on a corpus of 760 Uzbek proverbs containing gastronomic components. It clarifies the notion of the gastronomic code, distinguishes the gastronym from related terms, and analyzes how food-related lexemes function in proverbs as carriers of cultural meaning and value judgement. The analysis demonstrates that in proverbs gastronyms move from their literal, object meaning to a symbolic-conceptual one: bread (non) expresses the concepts of sustenance, honesty and sacredness; pilaf (osh) — hospitality and solidarity; salt (tuz) — loyalty and gratitude; milk (sut) — purity and motherhood. Statistically, the most active gastronyms are osh (208 proverbs), non (89), milk (32), salt (29) and meat (28). The findings show that gastronyms in Uzbek proverbs predominantly carry positive axiological evaluation, which reflects the sacred status of food in the Uzbek worldview. The study contributes to Uzbek paremiology and linguoculturology by offering a combined statistical and linguocultural description of gastronomic units in proverbs, a field previously studied mainly on phraseological rather than paremiological material.
