Abstract

Abstract. UD. xyz is a manufacturing company engaged in sandal production using a make to stock production system. Production activities are still dominated by repetitive manual work that potentially increases workers’ physical workload. Excessive physical workload may cause fatigue, reduce concentration, and decrease productivity. This study aims to analyze workers’ physical workload in sandal production using the Cardiovascular Load (CVL) method. This research used a descriptive quantitative method with a physiological approach. The study was conducted in the sole printing, coloring finishing, and sandal assembly sections at UD. xyz. Data collection was carried out through observation, interviews, and workers’ pulse measurements involving 20 production workers. The results showed that the sole printing section had the highest physical workload with a CVL value of 48%, followed by the assembly section at 41% and the coloring finishing section at 36%. Based on the CVL classification, all production sections were categorized as moderate workload. The high physical workload was influenced by repetitive manual activities, non-ergonomic working postures, and high work intensity. The company is recommended to improve work methods and implement ergonomic work systems to reduce worker fatigue and improve productivity. Berdasarkan klasifikasi CVL, seluruh bagian produksi termasuk kategori sedang. Tingginya beban kerja fisik dipengaruhi aktivitas kerja manual berulang, posisi kerja kurang ergonomis, dan tingginya intensitas kerja. Perusahaan disarankan melakukan perbaikan metode kerja dan penerapan sistem kerja ergonomis guna mengurangi kelelahan pekerja serta meningkatkan produktivitas kerja.

Abstract

Abstract. Supply chain performance of manufacturing companies in developing countries depends on both firm-level strategy and the spatial configuration of the regions in which supply chains operate. In Indonesia, intra-national disparities across Java’s three major industrial provinces including West Java, Central Java, and East Java, create distinct operating environments that are rarely compared through a supply chain management lens. This study introduces an integrative conceptual model linking regional spatial structure to supply chain performance, specifically efficiency, speed, and cost. Drawing on contingency theory, the SCOR model, and perspectives from regional and urban planning, the model operationalizes spatial structure through four dimensions: industrial spatial concentration, logistics infrastructure quality, RTRW zoning compliance, and nodal connectivity. Comparative profiling of these provinces reveals three distinct spatial archetypes, high-concentration, dispersed-SME, and port-centric, each resulting in predictable, differentiated performance outcomes. We advance three propositions: spatial concentration enhances supply chain efficiency, logistics infrastructure quality moderates the strategy–speed relationship, and RTRW non-compliance elevates logistics costs. This interdisciplinary framework bridges supply chain management and regional planning, establishing a roadmap for empirical validation across Java’s manufacturing sectors.
