Abstract

Artikel ini membincangkan pembangunan etos budaya etnik Melayu yang berlaku di Pulau Tuba, Langkawi. Artikel ini bertujuan menilai impak proses pembangunan Langkawi ke atas perubahan pola kependudukan di Pulau Tuba. Data yang digunakan dalam penulisan ini diperolehi daripada kajian lapangan yang telah dilakukan di Pulau Tuba, Langkawi yang merupakan kawasan penempatan masyarakat yang keseluruhannya beragama Islam. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahawa arus pembangunan ekonomi dan infrastruktur yang berlaku di pulau besar Langkawi hampir dua dekad lalu telah berjaya mengubah ekosistem pulau tersebut. Namun, hasil kajian juga menunjukkan bahawa masyarakat di Pulau Tuba tidak menerima pengaruh yang besar dan masih mengamalkan nilai budaya Melayu tradisi dalam meneruskan kelangsungan hidup.

Abstract

Karya kreatif bukan dihasilkan dari ruang kekosongan. Setiap satunya mempunyai asas dan merakamkan detik hati penciptanya untuk memperkatakan ‘sesuatu’ yang melingkari kehidupan manusia. Suatu realiti yang dekat dengan diri, masyarakat, dan persekitaran kerap kali digarapkan untuk memaparkan nilai atau persoalan kemanusiaan secara keseluruhannya. Oleh yang demikian, makalah ini bertujuan memperkatakan tentang kandungan atau tema dan persoalan yang dipaparkan dalam dua genre kreatif, iaitu novel dan filem yang masing-masing mendapat perhatian yang tinggi daripada khalayak pembaca, dan penonton. Untuk tujuan ini, novel popular yang diulang cetak 27 kali, Ombak Rindu (Fauziah Ashari,2012) dan filem dengan judul yang sama, “Ombak Rindu” dijadikan bahan penelitian tentang unsur persamaan dan perbezaan dalam kedua-dua media itu; bercetak dan audio-video-visual (AVV). Selain itu, teks novel apabila dipindahkan atau ditransformasikan kepada filem, berlaku sama ada pengekalan, pengguguran, penambahan, pengubahsuaian atau pengekalan naratif, watak dan perwatakan, dialog, latar dan sebagainya. Namun yang dikekalkan ialah tema dan persoalan cinta yang pastinya menjadi popular dalam kalangan pembaca novel dan penonton filem Melayu khasnya.

Abstract

Penulisan karangan merupakan suatu komponen penilaian yang memainkan peranan yang sangat penting dalam menentukan pencapaian prestasi seseorang pelajar dalam subjek bahasa Melayu. Disebabkan penguasaan penulisan karangan menjadi aspek yang sangat dominan dalam bahasa Melayu, maka kajian mengenai penguasaan kemahiran menulis sebelum ini sangat terikat dengan penganalisisan penggunaan unsur-unsur tatabahasa seperti kesalahan ejaan, kesalahan struktur ayat dan kesalahan-kesalahan umum tatabahasa yang lain serta aplikasi gaya bahasa yang merupakan satu cabaran bahasa yang terbesar dalam kalangan pelajar terutamanya pelajar ‘MESRA BELAJAR’ (slow learners). Kemahiran menulis karangan tidak dapat dikuasai dengan lebih efisien sekiranya bidang ini hanya dilihat dan dinilai daripada skop yang lebih besar dan luas untuk diamalkan oleh para pelajar sekolah rendah tanpa diberi keyakinan diri kepada mereka bahawa kemahiran menulis dapat dikuasai juga dengan menggunakan beberapa teknik efektif walaupun bidang ini dikatakan kompleks. Dengan kesedaran terhadap hakikat tersebut, kajian ini cuba menjelaskan langkah yang pragmatik untuk meningkatkan kemahiran menulis karangan jenis keperihalan dan laporan berdasarkan satu frame yang telah diselaraskan untuk mengelakkan kekeliruan dalam kalangan pelajar. Kajian ini telah dijalankan dengan menggunakan kaedah kualitatif. Data diperoleh dengan cara pemerhatian dan analisis dokumen. Seramai 20 orang pelajar dan seorang guru di sebuah Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Tamil terpilih telah terlibat dalam kajian ini. Tinjauan awal telah dilaksanakan melalui ujian bulanan dan ujian pra. Hasil kajian memperlihat pelajar ‘Mesra Belajar’ masih tidak dapat menulis karangan jenis keperihalan dan laporan tidak lebih daripada 3 ayat disebabkan tidak dapat menyusun dan mengolah idea mengikut sesuatu frame tertentu. Perancangan kajian difokuskan kepada para responden supaya dapat mengenal pasti dan membezakan karangan jenis keperihalan dan karangan jenis laporan serta menghasilkannya. Hasil kajian juga menunjukkan teknik yang digunakan iaitu teknik penjelmaan dapat memberi impak yang sangat positif dalam meningkatkan kemahiran memodifikasikan karangan jenis keperihalan yang dihasilkan kepada laporan sekurang-kurangnya dalam 12 ayat ringkas. Penemuan ini membuktikan bahawa kajian sintaksis yang dijalankan secara empirikal dan saintifik mampu meningkatkan kemahiran menulis karangan jenis keperihalan dan laporan dalam kalangan pelajar ‘Mesra Belajar’ yang umumnya dipinggirkan selalu dalam proses pengajaran dan pembelajaran serta yang terpinggir automatik daripada sistem penilaian kebangsaan.

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between proficiency level and language learning strategies (LLSs) among Jordanian students enrolled at Universiti Utara Malaysia. The frequency level of the LLSs employed by the students was also investigated. The theoretical foundation for the study was provided by three comprehensive theories which are the Behaviorism, the Cognitive Psychology, and the Schema Theory. The data for the LLSs was obtained from using Oxford’s (1990) Strategy Inventory for Language Learning (SILL) that classifies six different strategies: 1) Memory Strategy (MS), (2) Cognitive Strategy (COG), (3) Compensation Strategy (COMPS), (4) Metacognitive Strategies (MET), (5) Affective Strategy (AFCS) and (6) Social Strategies (SOC). The frequency of the students’ overall use of LLSs was determined on a five-point Likert scale, ranging from high frequency use (3.5-5.0), medium frequency use (2.5-3.49), to low frequency use (1.0-2.49). Questionnaires were distributed and collected from a total of 97 students. Meanwhile, the students’ level of language proficiency was determined by their scores in the UUM English Language Proficiency Test (ELPT). Upon using the multiple regression analysis, the results show that the students used language learning strategies at a high frequency level. In addition, this study shows that there is a positive relationship between language learning strategy and proficiency level. These results indicate that proficiency level plays a vital role in determining the kinds of language learning strategy used. Curriculum designers and related bodies in Jordan should increase focus on the role of language learning strategies in promoting the acquisition of English language proficiency. The study also opens up avenues for more studies on language learning strategies not only in Jordan, but also in other countries where this area of study is lacking.

Abstract

Konsep pendaraban merupakan antara konsep asas yang paling penting dalam mata pelajaran matematik dan perlu dikuasai oleh semua murid sejak di sekolah rendah. Namun, kebanyakan murid tidak memahami bagaimana proses pendaraban berlaku dan yang paling sukar ialah kerana mereka tidak menghafal sifir. Justeru, satu kaedah baru diperkenalkan bagi membantu murid meningkatkan kemahiran mendarab disamping dapat menguasai fakta asas darab dengan lebih baik. Lapan orang murid tahun empat telah dipilih sebagai sampel kajian adalah dari sebuah sekolah di daerah Jasin, Melaka. Kesemua sampel adalah terdiri daripada murid yang lemah dalam pendaraban. Tinjauan awal melalui pemerhatian semasa sesi pengajaran dan rujukan dokumen telah dilakukan pengkaji sebelum memperkenalkan kaedah titik. Sebanyak lapan kali intervensi kaedah titik selama setengah jam telah dijalankan. Data dikumpulkan melalui ujian pra, ujian pasca dan menggunakan senarai semak pemerhatian. Hasil analisis data statistik mendapati bahawa hampir kesemua sampel menunjukkan peningkatan markah dalam ujian pasca. Keputusan penyelidikan menunjukkan bahawa Kaedah Titik sangat berkesan sebagai kaedah alternatif untuk membantu meningkatkan penguasaan murid dalam operasi darab sebarang nombor dalam lingkungan 100 000 dan juga dapat meningkatkan keyakinan murid ketika menjawab soalan pendaraban.

Abstract

These day mobile phones are being resorted to as indispensable pedagogical tools for imparting language skills to the present day students who are termed as ‘Generation Y’, ‘Net Generation’ and above all ‘Digital Natives’. Mobile phones have the potential to be reliable pedagogical tool to teach writing which is the most neglected skills to the intermediate students. The current paper examines the perceptions of two lecturers regarding the use of mobile phones and PowerPoint in teaching descriptive essay writing skills to intermediate students at M.A.O. College, Lahore. The qualitative data for this purpose was collected by means of semi-structured interviews from those two lecturers who taught experimental as well as control groups respectively. The findings of the study indicated that the lecturer of experimental group was very much in favour of mobile phones to be incorporated in the teaching writing class. Even the lecturer of control group favoured the use of new technology as she was not in favour of PowerPoint to be used for teaching writing skills. Moreover, the findings of the study indicated that the mobile phones can very easily, successfully and conveniently be employed as pedagogical tool to impart writing skills as they can motivate the lecturers for teaching as well as the students for learning the writing skills.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to provide information about Online Learning Using Information Search Methods for Al-Islamic kemuhammadiyahan Subjects in Muhammadiyah 5 Junior High School Surabaya in Covid-19 Conditions. This research is class ified as a descriptive qualitative research. This study tries to explain online learning by using the Information Search Method of Al-Islamic kemuhammadiyahan Subjects in SMP Muhammadiyah 5 Surabaya in Covid-19 Conditions. Primary data sources are interviews conducted through Google Form. The source of supporting data is the theory of figures, and relevant research written by other authors. This finding shows that the use of the Information Search method when online learning in Al-Islamic kemuhammadiyahan subjects can be applied in the midst of current learning problems with the situation of Indonesia that is affected by Covid-19. Online learning is an educational innovation that uses internet media without any limitations on space and time in carrying out the learning process. Online learning is a solution to overcome the educational problems caused by the current Covid-19 pandemic.

Abstract

The development of education today is influenced by the rapid progress of information and communication technology. One of the information technology that plays a role in the world of education is online learning. Online learning serves as a liaison between educators and students with an internet network that can be accessed anytime and anywhere. The online media used by the research subjects are various (WhatsApp, Google Classroom, Edmodo, Zoom). The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness and strategies in online learning. The obstacle to online learning in the COVID-19 pandemic is quotas. While face-to-face learning, students come to school. The time required for learning is 2-3 hours.

Abstract

Pembelajaran yang efektif dapat didefinisikan sebagai pembelajaran yang berhasil mencapai tujuan belajar peserta didik sebagaimana yang diharapkan oleh guru . Model pembelajaran efektif, mencakup empat hal pokok, yaitu: 1) kualitas pembelajaran, 2) tingkat pembelajaran yang memadai, 3) ganjaran dan 4) waktu. Sedangkan, kualitas pembelajaran merujuk pada aktivitas-aktivitas yang dirancang dan tindakan-tindakan yang dilakukan pembelajar dan peserta didik, termasuk di dalamnya bahan-bahan atau pengalaman belajar (kurikulum) serta media yang kita gunakan.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to analyze the implementation effectiveness of the learning from home (BDR) process during the Covid-19 pandemic in of SMP Muhammadiyah 5 Ngoro. This research used mix method. The data collection technique used was a questionnaire given the students once a month. The subjects of this study were the students of SMP Muhammadiyah 5 Ngoro.Based on the results of research conducted by filling out questionnaires, in general, the implementation of learning from home (BDR)students of SMP Muhammadiyah 5 Ngoro run quite effectively with a percentage of 60-79%. The results of the BDR learning implementation questionnaire which had bad effectiveness with the criteria of 48% were in the evaluation process. It is suggested in learning from home (BDR), teachers are required to be able to design learning activities from planning to evaluating in a simpler, more creative and effective way.
