Abstract

As the ones taking on the responsibility, EFL teachers must master the implementation of online learning, which includes all aspects of the teaching approach, classroom management, and learning media. Based on this phenomenon, this study looked at how English teachers at senior high schools felt about online language teaching. Thus, the findings of this study found two outcomes of online language learning: positive teaching outcomes and negative teaching outcomes. The efficiency of time management and the improvement of technology literacy, which happen for both teachers and students, are included as positive outcomes. Meanwhile, technical issues and classroom management are the main issues contributing to EFL teachers’ negative outcomes. This study suggests further research be conducted on teachers or language instructors from developing countries or with lower socioeconomic backgrounds in the future to examine the effects of intermediate contextual factors on the advantages and obstacles to online teaching and learning in higher education.

Abstract

Local languages are often used less frequently, especially in various formal (official) fields such as government and education. Moreover, the multi-ethnic nature of Indonesian society, with its own language and culture, certainly opens up opportunities for contact through inter-ethnic communication and interaction with different languages and cultures. Some phenomena are interesting to study because these phenomena can become conditions that lead to the extinction of a language. This has become the concern of various groups, especially linguists who are very interested in this field. This is of course very reasonable because the phenomenon of the extinction of a language does not only have implications for the linguistic dimension itself which pays attention to aspects of language and the structures in it. This study aims to find out how the attitude of local language users in using their regional languages and there are two regional languages studied in the North Labuhanbatu area and what language predictions are endangered. Based on the results of the discovery, the endangered language in the North Labuhanbatu area is Javanese compared to the Malay language.

Abstract

This research investigated the reason why the teachers did manipulation in teaching. The study applied qualitative descriptive method. The participants of the research were three teachers that have different background. The techniques for collecting data were through recording three teachers in teaching descriptive text elements and interviewing three teachers. There are some reasons found why teachers manipulate because of presage variable such as teaching experience, belief in their skill in knowledge, belief in their skill in teaching that can influence process variable. It also influenced by context variable such as the students are lack of interest, less motivation and have different background that can support them to learn English and both variables also influence process variable as teaching process does not run well because in process there were students’ weakness, students’ minimal response even they did not give response and feedback in teaching process.
