Abstract

PDAM Tirta Sembada Tridadi Unit in Sleman faces challenges in ensuring the sustainability of clean water services due to a potential imbalance between water supply and demand in the future. This community service activity aimed to provide technical assistance in calculating the projected water balance for the 2024–2034 period. The geometric method was applied using existing data on water availability and demand. The analysis revealed a decreasing trend in water availability from 14,2 L/s to 9,2 L/s, while water demand increased from 6,1 L/s to 9,2 L/s. A critical point is projected to occur in 2034, as water demand is anticipated to equal available supply, thereby posing a risk of water deficit if no immediate measures are taken. It improved the technical understanding of PDAM staff regarding the application of projection methods and analysis of water balance graphs. The recommended follow-up actions include diversifying water sources, improving distribution efficiency, and increasing public awareness of water conservation. The outcomes of this activity are expected to support long-term planning for sustainable water provision.

Abstract

In the current era of digital technology development, it is necessary for students to be able to present assignments in the form of paper results into effective, attractive and interactive visual displays. This is useful for conveying information to the audience, both fellow classmates and the general public. However, often the habit of students in making presentation media only contains copies of paper writing to presentation slides so that the presentation display is full of writing without making certain points, other habits are using font sizes that are too small, choosing slide designs that are not appropriate for presenting presentations in a formal atmosphere, and so on, even though interesting and interactive presentations play an important role in the absorption of information to the audience. The purpose of this training is to conduct training on making good presentation media for students. The method of implementing this activity is divided into three stages, namely the preparation stage, training implementation and evaluation. The targets of the training were 53 first semester students from the S1 Public Health Study Program. The success of the training can be seen from the improvement in students' knowledge and skills in creating good presentation media. The results of the training show that there was an increase in students' knowledge after the training and before the training, as well as an improvement in skills assessed from several aspects, namely visual design, layout, use of visual elements, visual communication effectiveness, and group coordination and collaboration.

Abstract

This English language training program was designed in response to the increasing demand for global workforce readiness in the digital era, where English proficiency is a key skill for professional communication. The training was conducted offline on May 16, 2025, at SMK Negeri 4 Bandar Lampung, involving six mentoring lecturers and 35 student participants. The main objective of the activity was to equip students with basic knowledge of the importance of English in the digital work environment and to introduce strategies for developing English skills for professional purposes. The training employed interactive lectures, group discussions, and Q&A sessions. The program was divided into three main sessions: (1) an introduction to the digital job market and the urgency of English language mastery, (2) strategies for learning English for workplace needs, and (3) an overview of overseas work and study opportunities. Based on the preliminary survey, most students had limited understanding of the significance of English proficiency in a global context. However, post-training evaluations revealed a significant improvement in students’ knowledge, enthusiasm, and active participation, especially during discussion sessions. The program is expected to serve as an initial step in raising awareness and preparing young generations to face global challenges with confidence, adaptability, and linguistic competence. Furthermore, this training provides a foundation for future, more intensive programs aimed at enhancing vocational students’ readiness for the digital job market.

Abstract

Waste management in Indonesia faces severe challenges, evidenced by landfill fires and the functional collapse of the Payakumbuh Regional Landfill, which led to the lowest waste handling coverage in Lima Puluh Kota Regency, West Sumatra (6.23%). This occurs despite the high recycling potential of organic waste (47% of total waste composition). Low sorting awareness and limited infrastructure are primary constraints. Politeknik Pertanian Negeri Payakumbuh (PPNP) holds a strategic role as an agent of change, yet its internal campus waste management system remains conventional. This community engagement project aimed to enhance waste management knowledge and skills among PPNP cleaning staff and students. The methodology involved four stages: identifying specific campus waste issues, designing educational materials on waste segregation and organic waste processing (composting, BSF maggot bioconversion), 3R principles, and agricultural utilization; conducting face-to-face training and ongoing mentoring; and evaluating impacts. Results showed high participation from 15 cleaning staff and 10 students. Cleaning staff's understanding improved significantly from 55% to 87%. Mentoring successfully encouraged waste segregation and organic waste processing practices, indicating a reduction in mixed waste disposed to the landfill. The program effectively increased individual capacity and fostered behavioral changes towards more independent and sustainable campus waste management. PPNP has the potential to serve as a model for waste management extension.

Abstract

The mosque is the center of religious and social activities of the community. Its construction requires careful technical planning. This will ensure that the building is safe, efficient, and in accordance with Standar Nasional Indonesia (SNI). The purpose of this community service activity is to provide technical assistance during the process of preparing the Detail Engineering Design (DED) of the Assafi Qolbu Mosque building located in Mranggen District, Demak Regency. Using an expert-driven design approach, the assistance was carried out by a team of Civil Engineering lecturers at Semarang University. Site surveys, needs analysis, technical working drawings, and selection of structural materials according to standards were all work carried out. The activity resulted in a one-story building structure technical document (DED) that included the planning of strip and footplate foundations, sloofs, columns, beams, floor slabs, and light reinforced roof structures. A well-designed DED ensures that the durability of the building is guaranteed to meet the aspects of structural safety and material efficiency. This activity not only creates design documents, but also increases partners' understanding of the importance of involving experts in the construction of mosques, especially their structures. It is expected that this assistance will serve as an implementative model for the construction of worship facilities based on Indonesian National Standards.

Abstract

Supplier selection is important in the production process, because raw materials greatly affect product results and production continuity. In Bananas Food Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) located in Bekasi Regency, the main problem faced is that there is no mechanism or system for selecting the right raw material suppliers to meet production needs. Bananas Food MSMEs have also not implemented a method in supplier selection, so they have more than one supplier. This research was conducted using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method. The criteria that are prioritized in supplier selection include availability, quality, and price and location. This study aims to determine the best supplier from several alternative suppliers. Based on the results of ranking the selection of banana raw material suppliers using the AHP method, determining supplier B as the best supplier for Bananas Food MSMEs with a weight value of 0.46, supplier C as the second alternative with a weight of 0.25, supplier D as the third alternative with a weight of 0.18, and supplier A as the fourth alternative with a weight of 0.11.

Abstract

One strategic community empowerment program is training on making aromatherapy candles from used cooking oil. The main goal of this program is to increase public understanding and skills in how to creatively and sustainably manage household waste. This program aims to educate people on how to transform useless waste into products with great economic potential. In Melis Village, Gandusari District, Trenggalek Regency, there are 15 participants consisting of Family Welfare Empowerment (PKK) cadres and active community members. The training was held at the home of one of the local posyandu cadres, strategically chosen and easily accessible to the participants. The learning method used is direct (hands-on training), where participants not only listen to theoretical explanations but also actively observe and practice each step of the aromatherapy candle-making process. During this process, participants learn methods of purifying used cooking oil using activated charcoal to remove dark color and rancid odor, as well as how to mix it with ingredients like paraffin, wax dyes, and essential oils to give the wax a natural scent.  Direct experience that facilitates participants' understanding and skills is gained thru a participatory approach and hands-on practice. The training results show that the community can make environmentally friendly, esthetically pleasing, and potentially profitable aromatherapy candles. It is hoped that this training will not be a temporary activity; it will be a starting point for building a handicraft business using recycled materials in Melis Village and raising awareness about the importance of managing household waste sustainably and responsibly.
