Abstract

The Open Circulating Cooling Water (OCCW) filter motor is a critical component in the power plant cooling system that functions to filter seawater before it is used to cool equipment such as the Heat Exchanger Close Circulating Cooling Water System, Hydrogen Generator Cooler, and Turbine Lubricating Oil Cooler.This study aims to analyze the rotor disturbance in the OCCW filter motor and develop solutions to improve the reliability of the cooling system.The analysis was conducted using predictive maintenance methods with vibration analysis techniques based on ISO 10816-3 standards, interviews with operators, direct observations, and operational documentation at the Pangkalan Susu Power Plant Unit 1 and 2. Vibration measurements showed abnormal values at bearing 1H (8.4 mm/s) and bearing 2H (7.5 mm/s), exceeding the ISO 10816-3 standard limit (≤7.1 mm/s) and falling into the "danger" category. Spectrum analysis identified damage to the rotor bearing with a dominance of Ball Pass Frequency Outer Race (BPFO) at 2.2 x order. Replacing the bushing with an SKF 6306-Z/C3 bearing successfully reduced the vibration values to the normal range (0.56-1.01 mm/s). The implementation of bearings as a replacement for the bushing proved effective in addressing the OCCW filter motor rotor disturbance, preventing unit derating of 80 MW, and saving financial losses of up to IDR 865,280,000 per occurrence with an investment cost of only IDR 7,970,000.

Abstract

This study analyzes the Energy Consumption Intensity (ECI) at the multi-story motorcycle workshop of PT. Buana Jaya Lestari in Medan to identify energy consumption characteristics and optimization potential. The research method used energy audits, direct measurements, and historical energy consumption data analysis over a 12-month period. The research object is a multi-story workshop with a total area of 1,850 m² distributed across three floors with different functions. The results of the study show a total ECI of 100.67 kWh/m²/year, which meets the national standard for commercial buildings with partial air conditioning. Energy consumption distribution per floor varies significantly: floor 1 (138.09 kWh/m²/year), floor 2 (99.84 kWh/m²/year), and floor 3 (48.00 kWh/m²/year). The air conditioning system dominates energy consumption with a contribution of 42.1%, followed by the lighting system (23.9%), workshop equipment (20.0%), and support systems (14.0%). The most influential factors are external ambient temperature (correlation 0.85) and the number of vehicles served (correlation 0.78). Energy savings potential reaches 13.4% or 24,878 kWh/year through optimization of the air conditioning system and retrofitting of the lighting system. Implementing energy conservation strategies can result in financial savings of Rp 37,317,000/year, a reduction in CO₂ emissions of 17.41 tons CO₂eq/year, and a decrease in the Energy Performance Index (EPI) to 87.25 kWh/m²/year.

Abstract

This research aims to design and test a prototype short circuit detection system for residential electrical installations based on the Arduino Uno microcontroller. The system employs the ACS712 current sensor to detect current surges and uses a relay module to automatically disconnect only the affected circuit. The test results show that the system can accurately detect short circuits with an average response time of 35 milliseconds. It also provides fault location information through an LCD display, improving the efficiency of technical handling. Sensor calibration indicates acceptable accuracy, with measurement deviation under 7%. This system is effective in enhancing residential electrical safety and minimizing the impact of faults on other circuits

Abstract

Strategic location selection is a crucial factor in the success of business expansion, including in the education sector such as tutoring institutions. AlphaKids Generation, as a growing tutoring center, requires an objective and structured system to determine new branch locations. This study aims to design a decision support system based on the Rank Order Centroid (ROC) and Simple Multi Attribute Rating Technique (SMART) methods to assist the location selection process. The ROC method is used to determine the weight of criteria based on their priority, while the SMART method evaluates location alternatives based on performance scores and assigned weights. The system was developed using the Rapid Application Development (RAD) approach and implemented on a web-based platform. The results show that location A5 (Jl. Karya Jaya) is the best alternative, achieving the highest score of 1.000. This system supports decision-makers in selecting the most appropriate location through a quantitative and objective analysis.

Abstract

Perpustakaan memiliki peran strategis dalam mendukung proses pembelajaran di era digital, khususnya dalam menyediakanakses informasi dan memperluas wawasan siswa. Namun, pengelolaan perpustakaan di SMK Negeri 1 Binjai masih dilakukansecara manual menggunakan kartu peminjaman dan pencatatan melalui Microsoft Excel, sehingga kurang efisien danmenyulitkan dalam proses sirkulasi buku dan pembuatan laporan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang dan membangunwebsite sistem informasi peminjaman dan pengembalian buku pada perpustakaan SMK Negeri 1 Binjai guna meningkatkanefisiensi pengelolaan data dan pelayanan kepada pengguna. Metode yang digunakan dalam pengembangan sistem ini mengacupada studi pustaka serta analisis kebutuhan fungsional dan non-fungsional perpustakaan. Sistem yang dirancang berbasis web,dilengkapi dengan fitur katalog buku, manajemen anggota, serta proses peminjaman dan pengembalian secara online. Hasilperancangan ini diharapkan dapat meningkatkan efektivitas pengelolaan sumber daya informasi, mempercepat prosespelayanan, serta mendorong peningkatan minat baca siswa. Dengan penerapan teknologi informasi yang tepat, perpustakaansekolah dapat menjadi sarana pembelajaran yang lebih modern, efisien, dan responsif terhadap kebutuhan pengguna.

Abstract

Teknologi digital telah mendorong perubahan signifikan dalam dunia pendidikan tinggi, termasuk dalam strategi pengajaran pada berbagai mata kuliah. Salah satu pendekatan inovatif yang muncul adalah Personalized Learning System (PLS), yaitu sistem pembelajaran yang dirancang untuk menyesuaikan materi, metode, dan kecepatan belajar berdasarkan karakteristik individual mahasiswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang sebuah sistem pembelajaran personal khusus untuk mata kuliah Jaringan Komputer, serta menganalisis potensi dan tantangan implementasi Personalized Learning Systems di lingkungan perguruan tinggi. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat mendukung transformasi digital pendidikan tinggi yang lebih inklusif, adaptif, dan berorientasi pada kebutuhan individu mahasiswa serta menjadi bahan evalusi terhadap sistem pembelajaran personal yang ada. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan aplikasi pembelajaran pada mata kuliah Jaringan Komputer yang menggunakan metode Personalized Learning System memberikan dampak positif terhadap motivasi belajar dan performa akademik mahasiswa. Aplikasi ini merekomendasikan integrasi Personalized Learning System ke dalam kurikulum berbasis teknologi untuk mendukung pembelajaran yang lebih adaptif, efektif, dan berkelanjutan di tingkat perguruan tinggi.

Abstract

Industry is a sector that requires special attention regarding worker safety. To increase the level of safety, the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) connected to sensors is an innovative smart solution. By utilizing Internet of Things technology, the PPE system can provide real-time information regarding worker conditions and the work environment. Worker helmets are equipped with LDR sensors, which function to provide warnings to workers who are not wearing helmets and send information to the field supervision center via the Telegram application These sensors confirm the presence of workers and provide information about their activities. The LDR sensors are connected to a central monitoring system that enables real-time monitoring and rapid response to workers who are not wearing PPE helmets. This solution not only provides maximum protection against the risk of accidents, but also increases efficiency in safety management in industry. With automatic notifications and connection to a central system, this solution is a proactive step towards a safer and more efficient work environment in the industrial sector.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the performance of an automated control system in a piggyback greenhouse that implements a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) as the control center, using a wick irrigation system for the plants. A piggyback greenhouse is a multi-story greenhouse concept designed for space efficiency in urban agriculture. This system utilizes soil moisture, temperature, and light sensors to monitor environmental conditions, along with actuators such as water pumps and ventilation systems controlled by a PLC. The wick irrigation method was chosen for its efficiency and energy savings, as water is absorbed by the plants through capillary action. Tests were conducted in several environmental scenarios to assess the response and stability of the automated control system. The test results showed that the system was able to consistently maintain soil moisture within the optimal range of 60–80%, with an average response time of 3 seconds for pump activation. Furthermore, the use of a PLC allows for flexibility in control logic settings and operational efficiency. Overall, the PLC-based piggyback greenhouse system with wick irrigation has proven effective in improving agricultural environmental control and supporting small-scale precision agriculture concepts. This research can serve as a basis for further development in the application of automation technology in the modern urban agricultural sector.

Abstract

The problem of limited energy and high household electricity consumption in Indonesia encourages the importance of implementing energy-efficient lighting technology. The still high use of energy-wasting incandescent lamps indicates the low energy literacy of the community in choosing efficient types of lamps. This study aims to analyze and compare the energy efficiency of three generations of lamp technology, namely incandescent lamps, compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs), and LED lamps, with an experimental approach. Testing was carried out using a wattmeter, lux meter, and infrared thermometer in a closed room with controlled conditions. Each type of lamp was tested with a light output equivalent to ±800 lumens. The test results showed that LED lamps had the lowest power consumption of 10 watts with the highest efficiency of 80 lumens per watt and a surface temperature of 45°C. CFLs have a power consumption of 15 watts with an efficiency of 53.3 lumens per watt and a temperature of 70°C. Meanwhile, incandescent lamps consume 60 watts with an efficiency of only 13.3 lumens per watt and a surface temperature of 120°C. Simulation of household use shows that the use of LEDs can save electricity costs of up to 112,500 rupiah per month compared to incandescent lamps. The results of this study provide empirical evidence that LEDs are the most efficient lighting solution in terms of energy, cost, and safety of use for the household sector.

Abstract

The oil palm plantation sector in Indonesia faces significant operational efficiency challenges due to manual record-keeping, limited field activity monitoring, and suboptimal resource management, potentially leading to decreased yields and productivity. This research aims to develop a "Web-Based Oil Palm Plantation Operational Management Monitoring Application" for the AM4 Oil Palm Plantation in Alur Meranti Hamlet, Besitang District. The system is designed to provide accurate digital data recording and reporting, integrated with real-time field activity monitoring (including fertilization and maintenance), and integrated resource management. Utilizing the waterfall methodology, system development involved in- depth requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, and maintenance. The results indicate that this application significantly enhances operational efficiency, data accuracy, and supports more effective managerial decision-making based on real-time data, surpassing the focus of previous research. This success demonstrates the substantial potential of information technology in optimizing oil palm plantation management, contributing to increased productivity and operational sustainability. Furthermore, the implementation of this web-based system is expected to minimize human error in data entry, provide a centralized database for easier access and analysis, and foster a more proactive approach to plantation management. By enabling real-time insights into crucial operational aspects, the application empowers plantation managers to make timely adjustments, optimize resource allocation, and ultimately boost overall output. This innovation serves as a model for other plantations grappling with similar challenges, highlighting the transformative power of digital solutions in modern agriculture.
