Abstract

Background: Loopography is typically performed using AP plain, AP post-contrast, lateral post-contrast, RPO, LPO, and AP post-evacuation projections. The primary contrast medium is barium sulfate. However, if perforation or obstruction is suspected, a water-soluble contrast medium is considered safer. At the Radiology Department of RSUD (Regional General Hospital) Banyumas, proximal and distal loopography is performed using AP plain, AP post-contrast, and lateral post-contrast projections with barium sulfate as the contrast medium. This study aimed to describe the examination procedure, the rationale for using a limited number of projections, and the rationale for selecting barium sulfate as the contrast medium for preoperative proximal and distal loopography before Duhamel pull-through surgery at RSUD Banyumas. Methods: This study employed a qualitative method with a case study approach conducted from September 2025 to April 2026 at the Radiology Department of RSUD Banyumas. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving one radiologist and three radiographers. Results: The examination procedure began with patient preparation, followed by an AP plain abdominal radiograph, administration of the contrast medium through the distal and proximal stomas, and evaluation of the post-contrast radiographs using AP and lateral projections. Barium sulfate, diluted at a ratio of 1:4, was used because it provided clearer visualization of the colonic lumen and anatomy than water-soluble iodinated contrast media. The AP and lateral projections were considered sufficient for evaluating the colonic lumen and distal colonic anatomy before surgery. The ALARA principle was implemented through the use of high-kV techniques, appropriate collimation, and proper patient positioning to minimize radiation exposure. Conclusion: Preoperative proximal and distal loopography before Duhamel pull-through surgery at RSUD Banyumas is performed using AP and lateral projections with barium sulfate as the contrast medium because it provides clear visualization of the colon, is more cost-effective, and supports the implementation of the ALARA principle to minimize radiation exposure.

Abstract

Background: Nasal bone fractures are among the most common facial injuries, commonly caused by traffic accidents, sports injuries, or direct trauma. Radiographic examination is essential for confirming the diagnosis, particularly in non-cooperative patients, where examination techniques must be adapted to ensure patient safety and obtain optimal diagnostic images. Objective: This study aimed to describe the radiographic examination procedure of the nasal bone and explain the rationale for using the semiprone true lateral position in non-cooperative patients with suspected nasal bone fractures at the Radiology Department of RSI Siti Aisyah Madiun. Method: A qualitative case study approach was conducted from December 2025 to January 2026 involving three radiographers and one radiologist. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and literature review, then analyzed descriptively. Results: The examination required no special patient preparation except removing metallic objects from the head region. Radiography was performed using a lateral projection in the semiprone true lateral position with exposure factors of 65 kV, 200 mA, and a focus-to-film distance of 100 cm. This positioning was selected because the patient was weak and unable to follow instructions, providing greater safety and comfort during the examination. The lateral projection clearly demonstrated the nasal bone anatomy and fracture line without requiring additional projections. Conclusion: The semiprone true lateral position is an effective radiographic technique for evaluating suspected nasal bone fractures in non-cooperative patients, providing adequate diagnostic information while improving patient safety and examination efficiency

Abstract

An anatomical pathology laboratory is a healthcare laboratory that plays an important role in supporting the diagnosis of various diseases, including cancer. However, all processes carried out in an anatomical pathology laboratory have the potential to pose risks to personnel and the environment if pathological waste is not managed in accordance with established procedures. This study aimed to determine the management of pathological waste and the level of staff compliance in pathological waste management at the Anatomical Pathology Laboratory of PKU Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta Hospital. This study employed a descriptive observational research design. The results showed that pathological waste management at the Anatomical Pathology Laboratory of PKU Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta Hospital generally complied with the provisions stipulated in the Regulation of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia Number 7 of 2019, with a high level of staff compliance. Nevertheless, challenges were still identified regarding the storage period of pathological waste, which exceeded the prescribed time limit before transportation by a licensed third-party waste management company. Therefore, evaluation of the waste transportation schedule and regular monitoring are necessary to ensure that all stages of pathological waste management remain in accordance with applicable regulations.

Abstract

Background: Non-hemorrhagic stroke is one of the leading causes of disability worldwide, resulting in muscle weakness and physical mobility impairment, which reduces patients' ability to perform Activities of Daily Living (ADL) independently. Active Range of Motion (ROM) exercise is a nonpharmacological nursing intervention that can be applied to improve muscle strength and ADL ability in non-hemorrhagic stroke patients. Objective: To determine the application of active Range of Motion (ROM) exercise on the improvement of muscle strength and Activities of Daily Living (ADL) ability in non-hemorrhagic stroke patients at Dr. Soebarkat Tjitrodarmodjo Hospital. Method: This study used a descriptive case study design involving 5 non-hemorrhagic stroke patients with muscle weakness and physical mobility impairment at Dr. Soebarkat Tjitrodarmodjo Hospital. Active ROM exercise was given once daily for approximately 30 minutes over 3 consecutive days according to the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). Data were collected through structured clinical observation, using the Manual Muscle Testing (MMT) scale for muscle strength and the Barthel Index for Activities of Daily Living (ADL). Results: Before active ROM exercise was given, all respondents experienced muscle weakness with MMT scale 2-3 and a moderate to severe dependency category based on the Barthel Index. After 3 consecutive days of active ROM exercise, 4 of 5 respondents (80%) showed an increase in muscle strength scale and Barthel Index score, with a change in dependency category from severe to moderate or from moderate to mild, while 1 respondent (20%) did not show a significant improvement in muscle strength. Conclusion: Active ROM exercise has been proven to be applicable as an effective nonpharmacological nursing intervention in improving muscle strength and Activities of Daily Living (ADL) ability in most non-hemorrhagic stroke patients, although the magnitude of improvement achieved is individual and influenced by age, comorbidities, and the severity of the stroke.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the effects of dried leaf compost and NASA Liquid Organic Fertilizer (LOF), applied individually and in combination, on the growth and yield of mustard greens (Brassica juncea L.). The research was conducted over a three-month period, from October to December 2025, at the Experimental Farm of the Faculty of Engineering and Agriculture, Nani Bili Nusantara University, Sorong. The experiment employed a factorial Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) consisting of two factors. The first factor was dried leaf compost with four treatment levels: K0 = no compost (control), K1 = 2 kg plot⁻¹ (20 t ha⁻¹), K2 = 3 kg plot⁻¹ (30 t ha⁻¹), and K3 = 4 kg plot⁻¹ (40 t ha⁻¹). The second factor was NASA Liquid Organic Fertilizer (LOF), consisting of three treatment levels: P0 = no LOF (control), P1 = 2 mL L⁻¹ of water, and P2 = 4 mL L⁻¹ of water. The data were statistically analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) with an F-test at the 5% significance level. When significant differences were detected, mean comparisons were performed using the appropriate post hoc test. The results showed that the individual application of dried leaf compost and NASA Liquid Organic Fertilizer significantly improved the growth and yield of mustard greens, as indicated by increases in plant height, number of leaves, and fresh weight. The optimum growth and yield were achieved with the appropriate fertilizer dosage. However, the interaction between dried leaf compost and NASA Liquid Organic Fertilizer had no significant effect on any of the observed growth and yield parameters.

Abstract

This study examines the effect of financial literacy and accounting understanding on the financial reporting quality of Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) in Yogyakarta, with financial management as a mediating variable. MSMEs play a strategic role in Indonesia's economy, yet many still face challenges in producing quality financial reports. Drawing on the Resource-Based View extended with the dynamic capabilities perspective, this study proposes that cognitive resources such as financial literacy and technical resources such as accounting understanding require operational capabilities in the form of financial management to translate into quality reporting outputs. A quantitative approach was employed through structured questionnaires distributed to 100 MSME actors in Yogyakarta, selected using purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) via SmartPLS. The results indicate that financial literacy positively affects both financial reporting quality (β = 0.302; p = 0.004) and financial management (β = 0.354; p = 0.000). Accounting understanding significantly affects financial management (β = 0.518; p = 0.000) but does not directly affect financial reporting quality (β = -0.070; p = 0.555). Financial management is the strongest predictor of reporting quality (β = 0.616; p = 0.000). Mediation analysis reveals complementary (partial) mediation for financial literacy and indirect-only (full) mediation for accounting understanding. These findings confirm financial management as the pivotal mechanism translating cognitive resources into quality reporting outputs, providing implications for MSME empowerment programs that should integrate conceptual training with operational financial management practices.
