Abstract

This research is aimed to explore translanguaging practices in tertiary level, specifically in English for Critical Thinking Class at STAHN Mpu Kuturan Singaraja. The goals of this study is to find out the translanguaging types, functions, and language use by the lecturer. The translanguaging practiced by the lecturer were observed through 11 meetings. Observations were conducted to find out how the lecturer practiced translanguaging in the class. With the use of field notes and observation sheets, the data were collected and then presented in the form of table and diagram. The observations were focused on discovering translanguaging frequency, types, functions and languages use. A deductive thematic analysis was employed to analyze the research objectives. This research shows that translanguaging was practiced frequently by the lecturer in terms of pre-activity, main activity, and post-activity. There are 8 (eight) types of translanguaging found along the study that specifically used for specific teaching functions. Moreover, this finding also covers that the lecturer used 3 (three) languages in translanguaging, including English, Indonesian, and Balinese. This study implies that translanguaging as a pedagogical approach plays important roles in multilingal classrooms.

Abstract

The ulu ambek dance portrays a leader (datuk) in his steps, actions, and thoughts for the prosperity of his people. The silat-style movements in ulu ambek dance are performed by two individuals in different positions, one attacking and the other defending. However, they never make physical contact. Midway through the performance, they switch positions, with the defender taking turns to attack and the former attacker now defending. Ulu ambek dance in Pariaman is a manifestation of historical heritage to maintain its identity because it is related to the ethics and aesthetics of traditional Pariaman society. In the current condition, traditional ulu ambek art requires continuity and should be taught to the younger generation. Therefore, there needs to be a training concept that appeals to the younger generation. The training concept includes 1) Building Technical Skills, 2) Unleashing creativity, 3) Exploring Traditional Expression, 4) Strengthening Independence, and 5) Creating a Community. From these concepts, the progress made by the younger generation in building their confidence in traditional art, mainly traditional ulu ambek dance in Pariaman, is evident.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the level of student concern toward children with disabilities at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Mulawarman University. While previous research has discussed empathy or inclusive education separately, few have quantitatively examined the relationship between affective and cognitive empathy and prosocial behaviour among university students at Mulawarman University in East Kalimantan. A quantitative approach using a survey method was employed to measure the dimensions of affective empathy, cognitive empathy, and prosocial behaviour based on the theory of Eisenberg and Miller (1987). A total of 97 students were selected as research samples using the simple random sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires and analysed using validity and reliability tests, as well as multiple linear regression analysis. The results indicate that affective and cognitive empathy have a significant influence on students' prosocial behaviour in supporting children with disabilities. The implications of this study highlight the importance of education and socialisation regarding inclusivity to enhance students' social awareness.

Abstract

This study explores the digital competencies of Christian Education teachers in Tiakur City, located in the Southwest Maluku Regency, with a focus on their ability to implement blended learning. The aim of the research was to assess their current digital skills, identify the challenges they face, and determine effective strategies for integrating technology into teaching. A total of 20 teachers from both junior and senior high school levels participated in the study. Using a mixed-methods approach, the research combined surveys, interviews, and classroom observations. The quantitative data from the surveys were analyzed using both descriptive and inferential statistics to evaluate and compare the levels of digital competence. In contrast, the qualitative data collected through interviews and observations were analyzed thematically to identify common patterns and insights. The findings revealed a wide range of digital competencies among the teachers, with some demonstrating strong skills, while others needed additional support. Key challenges identified in the study included limited access to technology, lack of sufficient training, and insufficient technical support. The research highlighted the critical need for targeted professional development, improved technological infrastructure, and enhanced collaboration to support the successful implementation of blended learning. Ultimately, the study emphasizes that improving digital competence and addressing technological barriers are vital to enhancing the quality of Christian Education in remote regions like Southwest Maluku. Abstract

In the three border provinces of Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat in southern Thailand, where most of the population is Malay Muslim with strong religious and cultural beliefs, this study examines the dynamics of acceptance and rejection of international conventions regarding the rights of LGBTQ+ individuals. Despite Thailand's notable advancements in LGBTQ+ rights, including the enactment of the Equal Marriage Act in 2024, research indicates that the three border provinces of Southern Thailand face substantial obstacles in implementing this law because of stringent religious and cultural standards. To obtain some acceptance, LGBTQ+ groups in the area are employing adaptation techniques like social media use, creating support systems, and highlighting Islamic principles like "Rahmah" (compassion). However, many LGBTQ+ members decide not to publicly reveal their identities due to severe opposition from religious and community leaders. The intricacy of the interplay between local and global norms is examined in this study, along with the function of players like community organizations and social media influencers in mediating the dispute. The results offer valuable insights into the difficulties LGBTQ+ individuals have in conservative-value-dominated communities, as well as suggestions for future inclusive legislation.

Abstract

Public complaints play a critical role in providing feedback on service delivery, enabling institutions to enhance performance, promote accountability, and uphold social justice. This study examines the influence of perceived justice in complaint handling on public satisfaction within the Secretariat General of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPR RI). Adopting a quantitative approach, data were collected from 258 respondents—comprising civil servants, private-sector employees, professionals, NGO workers, and the general public—using a Likert-scale questionnaire distributed via Google Forms. This research focuses on three dimensions of justice: distributive, procedural, and interactional. The findings indicate that interactional justice—encompassing respectful treatment, clear communication, and ethical behavior—has the strongest impact on public satisfaction. These results underscore the importance of interpersonal engagement during the complaint resolution process as a key factor in shaping public trust and improving institutional image. The novelty of this study lies in its comprehensive analysis of justice perceptions in the context of a legislative institution’s complaint management system—an area that has been relatively underexplored in prior research. Unlike existing studies that primarily focus on executive or frontline service agencies, this study provides new insights into how justice-based approaches in legislative complaint handling can enhance public service responsiveness, transparency, and credibility.
