Abstract

This study focuses on developing bundling product strategies in the marketing of objects and tourism attractions. The purpose of this research is to examine the application of the bundling product concept as the development of the competitive strategy of tourist destinations. The research was conducted in Bondowoso district, East Java, Indonesia, which has various potential tourism assets. The method used is a descriptive method to analyze data and information relate to the opportunities and development of tourism in Bondowoso. The results indicated that the form of policy direction bundling strategy of Bondowoso tourism products have the opportunity to optimize the product bundling strategy with promotional packages to provide value of customer. The preference of the variety bundle is expected to be higher in the combined evaluation mode rather than in the separate evaluation mode. The Special Interest Tourism is the suitable type of tourism development. The attributes of the destination are expected to satisfy the needs of tourists also the aspects of performance quality which based on emotional motives. Marketing bundling products through promotion can be done by using e-marketing and viral marketing with several forms of social media.

Abstract

The city of Bandung has great potential for halal tourism. In addition to the carrying capacity of natural and human resources, Bandung has been designated by the Indonesian. However, policy makers still have not carried out special branding for halal tourism for the city of Bandung. This study has a purpose to observe the importance of branding for halal tourism in Bandung. This study uses a qualitative approach. The data were collected through questionnaires and literature study. The result showed that the majority of Muslims from various countries consider halal tourism branding important and influence their choice of the city they will visit.

Abstract

Human resources are the main capital to achieve company’s goals in hospitality industry. One important thing that company should consider in maintaining employee performance is a job satisfaction. Employee that does not have a job satisfaction while working will gradually decrease the employee performance. Many factors influence job satisfaction one of them is work life balance. The low work life balance resulted a low job satisfaction. This research aims at investigating the influence of work life balance  on employee job satisfaction to housekeeping employee at Renaissance Bali Uluwatu Resort & Spa. Respondents in this research were 35 housekeeping employees with saturated sampling. The data collection was done by distributing the questionnaire using a Likert scale that use 5 points to measure 30 item statements. The data analysis techniques used was simple linear regression, t-test, and determination coefficient test which was assisted by SPSS version 23 for Windows.  The results of this research indicated that work life balance (X)  partially has a positive and significant effect on housekeeping employee job satisfaction (Y) at Renaissance Bali Uluwatu Resort & Spa with a value of tcount > ttable = 9,840 > 2,032. Work life balance contributes to influence Employee job satisfaction of  74,6% in strong catagories, while the remaining 25,4% is influenced by other factors outside of this research. This research is expected to be used as a consideration to pay more attention of employee work life balance to increase employee job satisfaction.

Abstract

Penyengat Island has a valuable historical footprint not only for Indonesia but also for Malaysia and Singapore, as well as having a wealth of ancient literacy and influential religious values. Data were collected from tourists visiting Penyengat Island through distributing questionnaires to 100 respondents, combined with in-depth interviews, focused discussions with representative and competent key persons related to the issues discussed. This study found that the accommodation and amenities components are still the main problems in developing tourism on Penyengat Island. The factors of tourism management, tourist safety, public awareness of tourism, and environmental preservation are other central issues that need attention. The development of broad tourism promotion using information technology media and supported by professional management will be able to accelerate the tourism growth of Penyengat Island. Purpose of this study is to measure the dynamics of historical and religious tourism on Penyengat Island using the 5 A attribute approach (attractions, accessibility, accommodation, amenities and awareness). This research is focused on the empirical conditions of the dynamics of tourism development in Penyengat Island, with a qualitative descriptive research method through questionnaires, in-depth interviews, observations, and transects. The attributes of accommodation, amenities, and awareness of public tourism are still low. The main factor of the problem lies in the management of tourism in Penyengat Island that has not been done professionally and integratedly by targeting foreign tourists Overall and integrated tourism management by building destinations that ensure the comfort and safety of tourists, building information technology-based promotional media that can reach the wider community, and building a network of partnerships with stakeholders in the development of tourist destinations and strengthening human resources.

Abstract

This article focuses on Airbnb that was one of the most popular sharing models in Economics. This study investigates the Airbnb business performance using customer reviews to calculate the monthly occupancy rate and a yearly income of Airbnb hosts in Amsterdam between 2015 and 2019. This study uses modest and optimistic estimates for the review rate with 0.6 percent and 0.4 percent, respectively, and 3.9 for the average length of stay in Amsterdam. Findings reveal that the visitors increase from May to June, then again in September and October. The monthly occupancy rate of the super host has a higher occupancy rate rather than the regular host at every district. The yearly income of the super hosts in Centrum-West and Centrum-Oost was higher than in other districts, while annual income was most deficient in Gaasperdam - Driemond. In term of average occupancy and number of maximum people per accommodation, accommodations which accommodate more than eleven people have more occupancy rate than others. Customer reviews can be used to calculate the monthly occupancy rate and a yearly income of Airbnb hosts.

Abstract

The study aims to analyze: 1) local culinary potential (2) supporting factors;  and (3) factors inhibiting the potential of local culinary in supporting the Tourism Industry. This research is qualitative research. The sampling technique was purposive sampling. Data collection techniques used are observation, interviews and documentation. The results showed that: (1) local culinary served in daily life as a staple food or the habit of consuming the dish. There are 6 types of  local culinary classifications in the form of rice, vegetables, side dishes, satay, traditional snacks, and crackers or chips; (2) supporting factors, namely local cuisine must be maintained and developed so that it can provide additional income for villagers and be able to preserve local values, especially in the food they have; and (3) inhibiting factors, namely the lack of training for human resources in the form of training on sanitation and hygiene in food processing, culinary product packaging and lack of promotion of culinary products.

Abstract

The world of tourism in West Sumatra, including in Payakumbuh City, experienced a significant degradation during the Covid-19 pandemic. Various tourism events are not held in line with the recommendation for social distancing. This study aims to analyze the Kurenah Ibu Festival activities as an alternative to domestic tourism during the Covid 19 pandemic in West Sumatra. This research was conducted with a qualitative approach adapted to the context of tourism and event research, with content analysis methods that consider several factors from the festival management. The results showed that the management of the Kurenah Ibu Festival as an alternative domestic tourism destination during the Covid 19 pandemic was made possible by several factors, namely: first, choosing a strategic location that is easily accessible by visitors from various directions; second, materials are varied choices that can attract visitors of all ages; three, the application of the CHSE protocol which guarantees health, safety, and security; and four, combining online and offline formats that allow the public from far away to access activities while reducing the number of visitors at the festival. The concept of the Community Festival offered by Kurenah Ibuah Festival, can be a model for the implementation of Tourism Events in the context of the post-pandemic resilience process.

Abstract

There is a growing expectation for the iconic statue to emerge as a tourism icon, particularly in Bali, Indonesia; following the completion of the Garu-da Wisnu Kencana Statue in 2018. Therefore, this quantitative study was car-ried out to answer the two key research questions; Are potential tourists aware of the presence of this new landmark after the development and whether there is an influence on motivation to visit, particularly for foreign tourists? The study was conducted using an online survey that was sent to 80 foreign tourists from all around the world. The findings revealed that the majority of respondents in this survey were uninformed of the statue's presence, and that if they were aware of its presence, it had an impact on their desire to visit Bali. This makes it critical to raise public awareness about the Garuda Wisnu Kencana Statue, which located at the Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park in Bali, Indonesia and suggested that the presence of Garuda Wisnu Kencana Statue can be op-timally used as a significant marketing tools by Indonesian Ministry of Tourism. Theoretical implications include summarizing the key elements of a tourism destination with a tourism icon that attracts potential tourists. Practical implica-tions include presenting measurement on steps to maximize the presence of a tourism icon with a variety of expectations from potential tourists.

Abstract

This research aims to describe postmodern tourism attractions, in the form of potential and suggestions for development strategies that can be done in the tourist area of Tawangmangu Sub-District. This study uses a qualitative method with a case study approach. The case study in this study is a postmodern tourism object in Tawangmangu Sub-District, Karanganyar, Indonesia. Qualitative analysis to illustrate the attractions of postmodernism and SWOT analysis to determine usable development strategies. The results show that the potential of postmodernism tourism attractions in Tawangamangu Sub-District is a combination of natural potential in the form of atmosphere, temperature, and beauty of the location on the West Slope of Mount Lawu; and potential attractions made by developers, some of them: Sakura Hills, The Lawu Park, Sekipan Hill, New Balekambang, Kampung Halloween, and Rumah Atsiri Indonesia. Development suggestions can be done by optimizing strengths and potentials by minimizing weaknesses and threats. The situation in the postmodernism era brings diversity, one of which is diversity in the construction of tourism attractions. Postmodern tourism object has a variety of shapes and designs, accommodating patterns from inside and outside Indonesian culture. To face the development of postmodern tourism development, the active role of the community is needed to anticipate the inclusion of culture from outside that is not following Indonesian culture, and not to weaken the culture of the local community itself.

Abstract

The main purpose of this research was to determine the moderating influence of social demographic factors on guests’ choice of fine dining restaurants. A mixed-method (concurrent nested) was used to do the survey. Simple random sampling technique was used to select the study units while convenient sampling technique was used o pick the respondents. Quantitative data were analyzed using SPSS version 22 to generate descriptive statistics, inferential, statistics, and regression analysis. The study established that social demographic significantly influences guests’ choice of fine dining restaurants. Also revealed, was that the composite of social demographic factors is another independent variable and not a moderating variable.  The study findings encourage Managers and owners of fine dining restaurants to include infrastructure that enables guests to use social media applications. This study contributes to the understanding of theories of consumer behavior in the perspective of fine dining restaurants. Also provided is knowledge for sharing with stakeholders and for policy developments.
