Abstract

The transition from face-to-face learning to distance learning has decreased student learning outcomes. Departing from this phenomenon, this research is presented as an effort to overcome various obstacles experienced by teachers and students during the COVID-19 pandemic. The researcher offers a model that can be used in virtual learning activities. Beginning with finding out the extent of the influence of the problem-based learning (PBL) model on accounting learning outcomes in class X Accounting 1 students at SMK YPKK Limbung. Research data obtained from the results of the test, observation, and documentation. Then analyzed using t-test which consists of simple linear regression analysis and product moment correlation. The findings in this experimental study resulted in a simple linear regression equation model with a value of Y=33,012+4.283X and a correlation coefficient value of 0.580. After students received learning using the PBL model through distance learning and were given a post-test, their learning outcomes also increased. In other words, the implementation of the PBL model has a significant and positive effect on accounting learning outcomes during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Abstract

The study is intended to investigate the nature and challenges of PLC in government colleges of Bangladesh by applying mix method approach. The investigation is conducted principally based on primary data in collaboration with some sort of secondary sources of data which make the study more consequential. Accordingly, to conclude the finding it triangulates the quantitative analysis, qualitative information and researchers’ observation. Consequentially, the inference drawn from the investigation implicates that there is no programmed PLC practices exist in Bangladeshi college education as CPD activities. In addition, there is some factual and potential challenges exist to implement PLC related to institutional reality and personality trait that is motivational in nature. The motivational aspect of professional is also engendered by institutional practices. Finally, to find out the challenges the study also has drawn some recommendations for resolution of the identified challenges.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze (1) the reasons for the teachers of SD Negeri Medang Kampai in implementing PKB, (2) the efforts of teachers in implementing PKB, (3) the supporting and inhibiting factors in the implementation of PKB, (4) the efforts of the teachers of SD Negeri Medang Kampai in implementing PKB. The research data sources were five principals and forty-seven elementary school teachers in Medang Kampai District. The data collection technique used observation, interview and documentation techniques. The data analysis technique uses the Miles and Huberman model, namely data reduction, data display, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that (1) the reasons for teachers to follow PKB were to add insight, knowledge, creativity and improve professional competence, orders from school principals, and for promotion, (2) the efforts of teachers in implementing PKB were to follow seriously, 3) the supporting and inhibiting factors in the implementation (PKB) that come from the Office, the school and themselves, (4) the efforts of teachers in overcoming obstacles to the implementation (PKB) are involving teachers in PKB activities, providing as much related information as possible, motivating teachers to continue to be enthusiastic about participating in PKB activities.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze whether parental income, socio-culture, and living environment are factors that cause children to drop out of school at SMP Negeri Rengat Barat District. This study uses a quantitative approach because the research data is in the form of numbers and the analysis uses statistics to test hypotheses. The types of data used in this study are primary data and secondary data. The data analysis technique used to solve the problem in this study is a quantitative analysis technique using the KMO test (Kaiser Meyer Olkin Measure of Sampling Adequacy) and Bartleets test of sphericity. The results showed that parents' income, socio-cultural and living environment were factors that caused children to drop out of school at the State Junior High School in West Rengat District. However, the correlation value of the living environment variable is greater than the socio-cultural variables and parents' income. Thus it can be interpreted that the dominant variable affecting children dropping out of school is the environment where they live because it has the highest correlation value. Then followed by socio-cultural and finally the income of parents.

Abstract

Employee job satisfaction and organisational commitment are directly influenced by leadership styles. Despite the fact that the good elements of leadership have already been explored, the bad sides of leadership must be addressed as well. This study examined the relationship between school toxic leadership, teachers’ job satisfaction and organisational commitment in Lagos State tertiary institutions. Two hypotheses were set to serve as guides for the study. Correlational and descriptive research designs were adopted while the population comprised all lecturers in Lagos State owned tertiary institutions. The sample size was 240 lecturers after stratifying the population into the institutions nomenclature and thereafter selected through purposive sampling technique. Analysis was carried out using inferential statistics of Pearsons Product-Moment Correlation Analysis. Findings indicated that a negative relationship existed between toxic leadership and teachers’ job satisfaction in Lagos State tertiary institutions and also a negative relationship existed between toxic leadership and organisational commitment in Lagos State tertiary institutions. According to the findings of the study, toxic leadership exists in Lagos State higher institutions. The study recommended that before being placed in leadership roles, tertiary institution lecturers should be exposed to leadership development training and opportunities.

Abstract

The addition of asynchronous learning hours in e-learning can cause students to have to understand large amounts of material. So that it can be a cognitive burden for students. The purpose of this study was to describe the cognitive load of students during online learning in the subject of vertebrate diversity and classification, especially on the structure of Pisces and amphibians. The research method used in this study was quantitative descriptive by examining the ability to receive and process information, mental effort and the learning outcomes of 46 students of the Biology Education Study Program at Pakuan University. The instrument used in the study was to measure the ability to receive and process information through a test in the form of a task complexity worsheet. Mental effort was measured through a questionnaire (Likert scale) with a range of 1-5. Learning outcomes were measured in the form of an essay test. The results obtained that the learning activities carried out have the characteristics of a high cognitive load component. The high cognitive load obtained by students is seen from the high mental effort and the high intrinsic load possessed by students, so that it has an impact on the learning outcomes obtained.
