Abstract

The construction sector is among the industries with the highest rate of workplace accidents, making the implementation of an effective Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) system crucial. This study analyzes the application of OSH practices in the construction project of the Hasri Ainun Habibie Regional Public Hospital’s inpatient building in Gorontalo. Employing a quantitative descriptive approach, data were collected from 15 respondents, including safety experts, contractors, consultants, and workers, using questionnaires and interviews. The data were analyzed using the Relative Importance Index (RII) to assess the level of OSH implementation based on policy, training, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), emergency response procedures, and accident risk management. The findings indicate that the overall implementation of OSH in this project is categorized as “highly applied,” with the highest RII score of 0.93 for worker health insurance coverage and 0.95 for accident handling readiness, reflecting effective emergency preparedness. However, some areas, such as routine health checks and waste management, require further improvement. The study provides practical recommendations for strengthening OSH practices in healthcare facility construction projects, which involve higher safety risks and operational complexity than general construction projects. These findings are expected to serve as references for contractors, consultants, and policymakers in developing adaptive safety strategies aligned with regulatory standards.

Abstract

This research employs a quantitative approach, which includes assessing community satisfaction with clean water services and testing water quality based on the standards outlined in the Minister of Health Regulation No. 2 of 2023. The results indicate that community perception falls into the "Strong" category at 79.22% regarding water availability during the dry season, but only 55.32% of respondents expressed satisfaction with the clean water program, indicating a relatively low level of satisfaction. It can be concluded that the dry season has a significant impact on the availability and quality of clean water. The quality test results indicate that the water used by the community does not meet the clean water standards set by the Ministry of Health. Several physical and microbiological parameters, such as turbidity and the presence of E. coli and Coliform exceed the permissible limits for potable water. This research recommends that the governmenwor related agencies pay greater attention to clean water treatment in order to maintain water quality.

Abstract

This study examines the portrayal of American religious stereotypes of Islam in the context of the 9/11 conflict as depicted in Ridley Scott’s Body of Lies. Using the theory of stereotypes and Swingewood’s sociology of literature, the research explores the relationship between factual and fictional realities. The analysis focuses on the film’s characters, plot, and setting to uncover how stereotypes are constructed and challenged. Findings reveal that the film conveys religious stereotypes through figures such as Al-Saleem, jihadist groups, and violent narratives linked to Islamic symbols. Simultaneously, it offers a critique of Western—particularly U.S.—policies via characters like Ed Hoffman and Roger Ferris, who engage in deception, manipulation, and covert operations. Notably, the character Hani Salaam is portrayed as a rational, honest, and principled Muslim, serving as a narrative counterpoint to negative depictions. Overall, Body of Lies presents a complex interplay between reinforcing and contesting religious stereotypes within a post-9/11 sociopolitical framework.

Abstract

Dams are very functional for every region in Indonesia because they can be used for various purposes such as irrigation, power generation and raw water supply. One of the important projects in Gorontalo is the construction of the Bulango Ulu Dam, which functions to regulate water flow, reduce the risk of flooding, provide energy, open up jobs, and encourage economic sectors such as tourism. This study aims to identify the dominant technical risks that occur in the implementation of work in the field and evaluate actions to overcome these risk factors. This research method is by distributing questionnaires to respondents who are the implementing contractors of the Bulango Ulu Dam project. The results of this study are that flooding is the most dominant risk factor that occurs in the implementation of the main dam work on the Bulango Ulu Dam project. As well as actions to overcome this, namely improving flood prediction and early warning by strengthening rain monitoring stations.

Abstract

This study examines the population dynamics of mud crabs (Scylla serrata) by incorporating the biological phenomenon of cannibalism into a mathematical model. The model considers the mud crab population as consisting of two age classes, namely juvenile mud crabs and adult mud crabs. The formulation produces two equilibrium points: the extinction equilibrium E0 = (0,0), which represents the disappearance of the entire population, and the coexistence equilibrium E∗ = (CJ∗,CA∗), which indicates the persistence of both juveniles and adults. Stability analysis shows that the extinction point E0 is asymptotically stable if  α < µ2/r - µ while the coexistence point E∗ remains stable when the intrinsic growth rate α lies within the interval α > α1 and α < α2. These results emphasize that the long-term survival of the population depends on critical biological parameters. Numerical simulations further support the analytical findings by demonstrating that the abundance of mud crabs is highly sensitive to variations in growth rate, competition intensity, and predation levels. In particular, an increase in cannibalistic behavior significantly alters the balance between juvenile and adult populations, potentially leading to population decline if not moderated. The findings of this study provide useful insights into the ecological dynamics of Scylla serrata, which is a species of high economic and ecological importance in mangrove ecosystems. Furthermore, the integration of mathematical modeling and numerical simulation offers a valuable framework for understanding complex interactions in aquatic populations and may serve as a reference for sustainable management strategies in mud crab fisheries.

Abstract

Clothing is no longer viewed solely as one of the basic human needs alongside food and shelter, but also as a form of self and social identity, as well as a reflection of fashion trends and aesthetics. The evolution of fashion is influenced by changes over time, and interest in fashion is not limited to teenagers, but also includes adults—both men and women—and even children. The province of Gorontalo holds great potential to develop as a fashion industry hub, supported by the presence of various shopping centers, both large and small, that offer a wide range of clothing and fashion items. This study aims to design a fashion school that serves as an educational, recreational, and commercial facility related to fashion in Gorontalo, while implementing a feminist architectural approach in both its functional and aesthetic aspects. The design method used is descriptive, incorporating literature studies, collection of primary and secondary data, and field surveys. A comprehensive analysis was conducted on the aspects of site, layout, function, form, circulation, and building systems. The main principles of the feminist architectural approach applied in this design include the use of soft and subtle colors, environmentally friendly materials, and ornamental forms inspired by plants, birds, and flowers, symbolizing feminine qualities. The resulting fashion school design is expected not only to serve as a center for education but also as a space for empowerment, fashion innovation, and comfort for all users.

Abstract

Gorontalo is known as one of Indonesia’s coffee-producing regions, particularly for Pinogu coffee, which has been recognized as an origin coffee. However, the potential has not been fully utilized due to the lack of educational and tourism facilities that could introduce the culture, processes, and economic value of local coffee to the public and visitors. To address this challenge, the Gorontalo Coffee Center was designed with an organic architecture approach emphasizing harmony between the building and nature. The design concept incorporates natural materials, organic forms inspired by the site’s landscape, and eco-friendly spaces that provide comfort for visitors. The design method includes a literature review on organic architecture and coffee tourism, comparative studies of coffee centers in other Indonesian regions, and descriptive analysis of the site and spatial needs in Gorontalo. The design results indicate that the Gorontalo Coffee Center has the potential to become both an educational and recreational hub as well as a new tourism icon reflecting local identity. The implementation of organic architecture not only offers a design in harmony with nature but also strengthens the image of Pinogu coffee, supports coffee-based MSME development, creates new job opportunities, and boosts the regional economy based on local potential. Thus, the Gorontalo Coffee Center is expected to become a model of sustainable tourism infrastructure integrating education, recreation, and environmental preservation.
