Abstract

The problem of street children is not only a condition that has only recently occurred but is a situation that has been going on for quite a long time, even since the Bible was written. Children are used as property for economic and socio-political purposes. Even children who do not make a good contribution to the family are often subjected to immoral actions, such as being thrown onto the street, sold as slaves to pay off family debts, or even killed. One of the Bible texts, especially the Old Testament (PL), that shows this reality is the text Amos 5:1–17 because it contains the injustice experienced by marginalized people, especially street children. This article aims to carry out an interpretation using ideology, criticism, and the perspective of marginalized people. The findings highlight the issue of child injustice and offer a pro-life viewpoint that honors the worth of children. The findings are discussed starting from conducting ideological criticism of Amos's text, exposing the reality of street children, to showing prophetic criticism that provides new energy in overcoming social problems from the reality of street children.

Abstract

This article aims to show the contribution of the philosophy of stoicism in Christian religious education to the development of self-love for Christian women. In this era of digitalization, many Christian women experience decadence in their self-confidence and dilemmas with the concept of loving themselves, which causes problems for themselves and problems for others. The research method used in this research is a qualitative research method with a literature study approach. This method divides this research into three important points. First, the philosophy of Stoicism in the era of digitalization. Second, the self-concept of self-love for women Third, the philosophy of Stoicism in developing the self-concept of self-love for women as a contribution to Christian religious education. The results of this research show that the philosophy of stoicism can be implemented in Christian religious education for the lives of Christian women by developing the self-concept of self-love through a loving attitude, living a life full of happiness, being grateful for the life that women have, and being able to manage each problem well themselves and with others.

Abstract

Indonesia is a pluralistic country in terms of ethnicity, religion, culture, language, and social system. This diversity is a blessing that is given as a potential wealth of the nation. On the one hand, this potential can be managed to strengthen nationality and people's welfare, but on the other hand, it can be a potential conflict that can weaken and even solve the disintegration of nationalism if it is not managed properly. Indonesia has a variety of local wisdom as invaluable social capital. One of them is Pela in Maluku which has a value system that is capable of marching and strengthening (integration) nationalism. The Pela value system has at least four functions that can effectively integrate (social cohesion) and strengthen national potential at the local or regional level, especially in Maluku.

Abstract

This study presents a theoretical analysis of the imagination of nationalism which can become an epistemic anchor when discussing the idea of nationalism and its relevance for contemporary society. With a qualitative descriptive approach, the imagination of nationalism is analyzed as a theoretical perspective on nationalism which is very important when faced with various problems in global society today. These issues include the struggle for justice, freedom, human rights, and most recently the development of digitalization which can undermine the life of a nation. This theoretical idea of nationalistic imagination was built in discussing a social problem of indigenous peoples who were displaced by waves of capitalism that used state power to encroach on the living existence space of a group of indigenous peoples. This research, in the end, presents various theoretical perspectives regarding the imagination of nationalism which can enliven the discourse on various nationalist issues today.

Abstract

This article aims to explore the views of several lecturers at the Islamic State Institution of Ambon (IAIN Ambon), Maluku, as representatives of Islamic academics towards Jesus. Interestingly, in the context of Maluku, the encounter between Christians and Muslims appears to be a dynamic relationship, manifested not only in forms of harmony and peace but also in tension, conflict, and even violence. Historically, religious-based conflicts and violence in 1999–2004 are evidence of the dynamic relationship between Muslims and Christians in Maluku. Further, the conflict that lasted for five years generally used certain religious symbols as media to provoke and mobilize each side in acts of violence. Then, it impacts various prejudices, mockery, and even hate speeches towards the central figures worshiped by each religion, such as Jesus and Muhammad. However, based on research through in-depth interviews with several lecturers of the Islamic State Institution of Ambon, Islamic theology has a positive view of Jesus, which can even become a meeting point as the basis for Islamic-Christian dialogue in Maluku, even though there are substantial differences with Christian theological views. Specifically, there are two main views: 1) Jesus as Ulil Azmi, and 2) Jesus as a role model of love and humanity. Thus, this paper can provide alternative views as a conceptual basis for creating and maintaining peaceful and harmonious Muslim-Christian relations in Maluku.

Abstract

Women’s voices and roles in human civilization often serve as a counter to the dominant power monopolized by men. The voice is prophetic, motherly, and embracing in the face of dominant forces that are often dominant, brutal, and destructive. The purpose of this article is to try to see the meaning of episode II Samuel 21:1-14 which is explored through socio-narrative interpretation with a feminist perspective. From the interpretation done in episode II Samuel 21:1-14 with Rizpah as a passive and sideline figure, it turns out that it can interrupt King David’s brutal and devastating political policies. This interruption supports a feminist movement today to remain critical of those in power who are pro-status quo. Episode I and II Samuel is analyzed first by placing this episode in the socio-political setting of I and II Samuel, then analyzing Rizpah’s role from a feminist perspective and finally looking at Rizpah’s interruption as a model for today’s prophetic voice.

Abstract

This article aims to describe and analyze the problems of youth in the GPM Liliboy Congregation who are not active in church services, specifically as liturgical participants at Sunday services. This congregation has a total of 566 members who fall into the youth age category of 17-45 years. This age category is based on the age of the Maluku Protestant Church Youth Generation. The research method used is qualitative research, namely through interviews but also using other sources by involving congregation development perspective. This study aims to determine the theological views of youth about service and the factors that cause youth to be inactive as liturgical supporters in Sunday services. The results of this study found that youth were not active in church services due to two factors, namely internal factors and external factors. The youth's inactivity in church ministry is a complex problem that the church and the youth themselves have to deal with jointly. Youth is the baton of the church that will continue the mission of the church's ministry in the future. Congregation development does not only emphasize ritual aspects; it is also a practical effort that can empower existing human potential, including church youth.
