Abstract

This literature review examines the relationship between discount framing and purchase intention in e-commerce contexts. Drawing on recent empirical studies, the research investigates how different discount presentation formats influence consumer purchasing behavior across various product categories and demographic segments. The analysis reveals that discount framing significantly impacts purchase intention through multiple psychological mechanisms, with effectiveness varying based on product type, consumer characteristics, and presentation format. Findings indicate that percentage and slash price discounts are more effective for specialty goods, while special price discounts better influence convenience goods. Gender differences emerge as a crucial moderating factor, with women and men responding differently to various framing approaches. Additionally, emotional factors such as anticipatory guilt play a significant mediating role, particularly for hedonic products. The review suggests that e-commerce platforms and retailers should develop targeted discount framing strategies informed by consumer psychology rather than applying uniform approaches. This research contributes to the theoretical understanding of framing effects in digital marketing while providing practical guidelines for optimizing discount presentations to enhance purchase intention ethically. The findings have implications for marketing strategy development, consumer behavior theory, and e-commerce platform design.

Abstract

The Islamicity Performance Index (IPI) serves as a critical measure in evaluating the financial and ethical performance of Islamic banks. This study presents a comprehensive literature review of existing research on IPI, highlighting its strengths, limitations, and its impact on profitability, firm value, and Maqāsid al-Sharī‘ah compliance. Findings indicate that while IPI has a positive influence on firm value and financial performance in certain contexts, inconsistencies arise due to a trade-off between ethical obligations and profitability. Some financial ratios within IPI, such as the Profit Sharing Ratio, exhibit no significant effect on profitability, while others, such as the Equitable Distribution Ratio, show a positive impact over time. Additionally, evidence suggests that many Islamic banks prioritize financial gains over ethical and social considerations, creating challenges in fully integrating Maqāsid al-Sharī‘ah into banking operations. This study underscores the need for refining IPI methodologies to ensure that Islamic banks uphold both financial sustainability and Islamic ethical values. The role of corporate governance, regulatory frameworks, and standardization in enhancing IPI’s effectiveness remains crucial. Future research should explore ways to enhance IPI’s applicability by incorporating broader measures of social and ethical responsibility. A balanced approach is necessary to bridge the gap between financial performance and Islamic principles, ultimately strengthening the credibility of Islamic banking institutions. This study contributes to the ongoing discourse on Islamic banking performance evaluation, offering insights into improving the alignment between profitability and ethical considerations.

Abstract

Organizational change is an inevitability in a dynamic business environment, yet it is often hindered by employee resistance. Cognitive flexibility, defined as an individual’s ability to adapt to change, is believed to play a crucial role in reducing both resistances to change and employee turnover intention. This study aims to analyze the influence of cognitive flexibility on resistance to organizational change and employee turnover intention at Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk. A quantitative method was employed, with a sample of 170 permanent employees selected through non-probability sampling using a convenience sampling technique. Data analysis was conducted using simple linear regression and partial tests with IBM SPSS Statistics 25. The results support the proposed hypotheses, indicating that cognitive flexibility has a significant negative effect on resistance to organizational change, as well as a significant negative effect on employee turnover intention. Based on these findings, it is recommended that Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk develop training programs focused on enhancing adaptability, problem-solving skills, and fostering a growth mindset to improve employees’ cognitive flexibility. The company is also encouraged to actively engage employees in the change process through innovative training such as creative workshops and interactive communication strategies to minimize resistance. Furthermore, strong cognitive flexibility contributes to lowering turnover intention, making it important for the company to integrate cognitive development into long-term retention strategies, such as clear career paths and the creation of a supportive and inclusive work culture.
