Abstract

The Community-Based Total Sanitation (STBM) Program in Indonesia is one of the efforts to overcome sanitation problems. The relationship between sanitation and stunting is that poor sanitation causes some of the most severe diseases that can lead to chronic bacterial infections that make nutrients difficult to absorb. This condition usually reduces appetite, resulting in lower nutrient intake and diverting energy for growth to fight off the body's resistance to infection. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method using an empirical approach. This research was carried out in the working area of the Abeli ealth Center, Kendari City, from May to June 2021. This study explains that employees have tried to implement government regulations regarding this ODF by referring to the regulations of the mayor of Kendari. Employees at the Puskesmas always socialize this ODF in collaboration with the local headman and cooperation within the Bappeda Kendari. This coordination is carried out in the program to eradicate open defecation, especially in coastal areas. This activity is highly highlighted by the government to achieve the target of the Healthy City. So that in 2019 all areas in Kendari City have received the ODF declaration. Abstract

During the COVID-19 pandemic, student activities are carried out online using various gadget sizes. This situation increases the risk of computer vision syndrome (CVS). This study aims to determine the relationship between screen time and screen size with CVS among Universitas Pembangunan Nasional Veteran Jakarta medical students. The study used a cross-sectional design, questionnaire, and application to measure screen time. The study showed that 59.5% of the 84 subjects experienced CVS symptoms. The screen time of subjects on smartphones was 7.22 ± 3.01 hours/day, and on laptops 6.03 ± 3.49 hours/day. The subject uses a laptop 14 (11 - 16) inches and a smartphone 6.4 (4.7 - 6.7) inches. The Pearson correlation test showed a correlation between screen time and CVS scores (p = 0.032; r = 0.234). The Chi-square test showed there were differences in symptoms of excessive blinking between the group with laptops ≤ 14 inches and > 14 inches (p = 0.019), as well as differences in symptoms of eyes redness (p = 0.042) and blurred vision (p = 0.031) between the group with smartphones < 5.8 inches and ≥ 5.8 inches. There is a relationship between screen time and screen size with CVS.

Abstract

The incidence of overnutrition in adolescents is still high, which can be caused by rapid physical, cognitive, psychosocial, and behavioral changes affecting their nutritional status. This study aimed to determine the relationship between nutritional knowledge, eating habits, stress, and the role of parents in the incidence of overnutrition in adolescents at Al-Azhar 1 Islamic High School Jakarta. This study used a cross-sectional design and was conducted on 245 students of classes X and XI. Nutritional knowledge data were obtained by filling out questionnaires independently. Data on eating habits were obtained by filling out the Adolescent Food Habits Checklist (AFHC) questionnaire, stress data by the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS), and parental role data by the Family Health Climate for Nutrition (FHC-NU) and the Family Health Climate for Physical Activity (FHC-PA). The proportion of students with overnutrition is 20%, and obesity is 18.4%. The results showed a significant relationship between the incidence of overnutrition and eating habits (p=0.000) and stress levels (p=0.022). However, there was no significant relationship between the incidence of overnutrition and nutritional knowledge (p=0.437) and the role of parents (p=0.724). Therefore, adolescents need to pay attention to eating habits, control stress levels, consume healthy and nutritious food, and maintain a normal weight to prevent the risk of overnutrition.

Abstract

Atherosclerosis is the primary etiology of coronary heart disease and can be detected by marker of LpPLA2. There is a unique phenomenon in Papua: patients of CHD in Papua are the lowest amount in Indonesia, although they consume a lot of cholesterol from pigs. This is expected because the Papuans consume purple sweet potato that contains antioxidants to prevent atherosclerosis. The objective of this experiment is to prove that the Purple Sweet Potato Extract (Ipoema Batatas L.) has a significant effect on Lp-PLA2 in the White Male Rats (Rattus novergicus Wistar strain) Model of Atherosclerosis. This study applied experimental research using Post Test Only Control Group Design with a large sample of 35 rats divided into five groups with the inclusion criteria. Variables taken for this experiment are LpPLA2 ‘s levels of positive control, negative control, and the treatment from groups 1,2 and 3. Methods of assessment LpPLA2 levels by Elisa-kit. Analysis of the test data using one-way ANOVA, post-hoc, and correlations. The higher the dose of the extract of purple sweet potato is given, the lower the levels of LpPLA2 mice. The effect of extract of purple sweet potato (Ipoema batatas) can reduce levels of LpPLA2 white male rats (Rattus novergicus Wistar strain) model of atherosclerosis.

Abstract

Dry eye disease (DED) is a disorder of the tear film caused by reduced tear production giving complaints that the eyes feel dry, and gritty and cause a burning sensation, which is one of the reasons patients come to see a doctor. The causes of DED are very multifactorial where ocular, anatomical, systemic, and environmental factors have been reported by several studies which state that there is a relationship between environmental factors such as pollutants from motorized vehicles having a role in the incidence of increased DED. Sumenep Regency was once a city of a thousand pedicabs and until now they are still the favorite choice for the people there. This research is an analytic observational with a cross-sectional approach. Data on the characteristics of the study subjects, length of work, and degree of DED complaints were collected and DED complaints were assessed using the Ocular Surface Disease Index (OSDI) questionnaire. The data were processed and analyzed using the Spearman correlation test to determine the effect of length of service on the level of DED complaints. A moderate strength (Spearman correlation = 0.441) relationship exists between the length of work and the degree of DED complaints in pedicab drivers.
