Jurnal Bastra (Bahasa dan Sastra)
JOURNAL BASTRA (Language and Literature) is a publicly accessible journal published by the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Halu Oleo University. This journal is published four times a year, every January, April, July, and October. This journal contains the results of research (field or literature studies), theoretical studies, and critical studies covering several areas of study as follows. Indonesian language education includes studies on linguistic learning, phonology learning, morphology learning, syntax learning, semantic learning, pragmatics learning, discourse learning, sociolinguistic learning, and psycholinguistic learning. Indonesian literature education includes studies on poetry learning, fiction prose learning, and drama and film learning. Indonesian, includes studies on linguistics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics, discourse, sociolinguistics, and psycholinguistics. Indonesian literature includes studies on poetry, prose fiction, drama, and film with a structural approach, stylistics, semiotics, sociology of literature, psychology of literature, psychoanalysis, literary ecology, deconstruction, philology, phenomenology, feminism, literary reception, and literary anthropology.

<![CDATA[The purpose of writing this article is to identify forms of language use in song lyrics that represent women with negative images, as well as to reveal the meaning contained in the song lyrics. This research is descriptive qualitative research using note-taking and documentation techniques as the collection method. This research data was taken from three songs sung by women, namely the songs Tenang, Takut, and Tak Segampang Itu. The analytical method in the research used Sara Mills' Critical Discourse Analysis in the subject-object position and found depictions of women with negative images in the form of passivity, dependence, and dominance in the subject position. Where, women themselves tell or interpret the sad events, betrayal, feelings of pressure, domination that they experience. Meanwhile, men or powerful groups are in the position of the object or person being told. Even though they are positioned as objects, men or dominant groups are described as having great power, authority or influence over women.]]>

<![CDATA[This research aims to find out how digital technology influences grammar, vocabulary and communication style, especially in the use of abbreviations, emojis and slang in text messages and social media. The method used in this research is a qualitative method with a literature study approach, as well as journals and articles that discuss language and digital technology as sources. The process is preparing appropriate sources, classifying data from these sources, and finally verifying or drawing conclusions from the data that has been collected. At this stage, an analysis is carried out to identify how digital technology influences grammar, vocabulary and communication style, especially in the use of abbreviations, emojis and slang in text messages and social media. The results of this research are that there are several influences of digital technology on changes in structure and form in the Indonesian language.]]>

<![CDATA[This research aims to determine the directive and expressive speech acts used by the Vice Presidential Candidates in the second Debate event for the 2023 Vice Presidential Candidates of the Republic of Indonesia Muhaimin Iskandar, Gibran rakabumung Raka, and Mahfud MD. This research method uses the Qualitative Descriptive Method. <![CDATA[This research examines the inner struggle in the novel "Pasung Jiwa" by Okky Madasari using a literary psychology approach. This novel tells the story of Sasana's life journey, which experiences deep inner conflict due to dissatisfaction with her identity and freedom. Sasana, who was born as a man, feels trapped in societal norms and expectations that shackle the expression of his identity. The analysis shows that Sasana experienced an identity crisis which led to the search for individual freedom, passing through various stages of the hierarchy of needs. Data collection in this research used reading, listening and note-taking techniques. The results of this research explain that the character Sasana in the novel "Pasung Jiwa" by Okky Madasari, which was studied using literary psychology, has psychological deviation factors, causes of deviation, and sociocultural factors. The psychological deviation factors experienced by Sasana include depression, anxiety and dissociative disorders. This research also reveals that Sasana deviation is influenced by cognitive and sociocultural factors that suppress individual freedom. In a sociocultural context, this novel reflects criticism of social norms that are rigid and do not provide space for the expression of individuality. The novel "Pasung Jiwa" not only offers a personal narrative but also a deep social reflection. Through a literary psychology approach, this research provides insight into the complexity of the human mind and the importance of individual freedom in a broader social context.]]>

<![CDATA[Literature, as an artistic medium, goes beyond narrative and plays a role in creative expression. The novel, a manifestation of prose, serves as a narrative vehicle that reveals the intricacies of life and the characters involved in it from beginning to end. There is a deep connection between literature and religiosity. One of the novels that has a rich religious theme and values is "Hafalan Shalat Delisa" by Tere Liye. This research aims to identify the religiosity values in the novel "Hafalan Shalat Delisa" by Tere Liye. This research is descriptive qualitative with data sources from the novel "Hafalan Shalat Delisa" and studied with the dialectical technique analysis method. The result of this research is the confirmation of four religious aspects in the novel "Hafalan Shalat Delisa", namely human relations with God, individual bonds with other individuals, human harmony with themselves, and human relations with nature.]]>

<![CDATA[The poem "Lautan Hijab" by Emha Ainun Najib is a literary work that describes spiritual richness and religious values in the context of Indonesian culture. The aim of writing this article is to describe the educational ideology in the poem Lautan Jilbab by Emha Ainun Nadjib. The approach used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The object of this research is the poem Syair Lautan Jilbab by Emha Ainun Najib which will be studied using the theory of hermeneutical studies. The data used is in the form of stanza quotes from several poems contained in Syair Lautan Jilbab by Emha Ainun Najib which express religious values. The data collection technique steps used are in the following three ways: (1) data collection, (2) data reduction, and (3) data presentation. The data analysis technique uses descriptive analytical methods which have the aim of creating a coherent, factual and actual description or picture regarding the facts, nature and relationships between the events studied. The results of the research show that the Poetry Lautan Jilbab by Emha Ainun Najib contains the relationship between religiosity between humans and God, religiosity between humans and humans and religiosity between humans and themselves. The relationship of religiosity that is often found in this poetry is the religious relationship between humans and God.]]>

<![CDATA[This study analyzes the use and meaning of diction in the lyrics of the song "Malam Tak Berjudul" by Monica Christiana. The song was chosen because it has a wealth of language and deep symbolism, which reflects the emotions and hidden messages behind the words used. This analysis uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive analytical method, focusing on the choice of words (diction) and how they are used to create a certain meaning and atmosphere. The results of the analysis show that Monica Christiana uses diction full of symbolism and emotional connotations to describe the atmosphere of the night full of mystery and loneliness. Words like "night", "untitled", and "sense of loneliness" not only serve as descriptions but also lead the reader to introspective and melancholic feelings. The chosen diction creates a powerful image and influences the listener's interpretation of the song's theme This study concluded that the choice of diction in the lyrics of "Untitled Night" plays an important role in conveying the emotional message of the song. The right choice of words and the use of symbolism are effective in bringing listeners to a deeper understanding of the emotional experience that the songwriter wants to convey. Thus, diction is a crucial element in the formation of meaning and atmosphere in the lyrics of this song.]]>

<![CDATA[Novel Gadis Kretek karya Ratih Kumala merupakan renungan serius mengenai permasalahan gender dalam budaya Indonesia, khususnya di bidang rokok kretek. Kajian ini akan melihat bagaimana konflik gender direpresentasikan dalam karya tersebut, serta bagaimana karakter perempuan menghadapi ketidaksetaraan gender dan patriarki. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif-kualitatif, penelitian ini mengungkap narasi-narasi yang menggambarkan konflik gender melalui interaksi sosial antara laki-laki dan perempuan, serta peran perempuan dalam bisnis rokok kretek, yang terkadang terabaikan dalam sejarah arus utama. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa Ratih Kumala tidak hanya menampilkan sejarah keluarga dan bisnis rokok kretek, namun juga mengecam ketidakadilan gender yang sedang berlangsung. Kisah ini menggambarkan bagaimana perempuan menunjukkan kekuatan dan kegigihan mereka di dunia yang didominasi laki-laki, memberikan suara kepada orang-orang yang sering diabaikan. Kajian ini menekankan perlunya mengakui dan memahami kontribusi perempuan dalam sejarah dan budaya, serta perlunya upaya berkelanjutan untuk mencapai kesetaraan gender.]]>

<![CDATA[Short stories are part of the story that provides character education so that moral values can be derived. Short stories can be enjoyed reading in just one sitting. Many of Ahmad Tohari's short stories have been read and taken from stories of people's lives. The short story Men who suffer when they are praised is part of his work that can be analyzed using literary psychology. Praise given by the public sometimes gives an unpleasant impression to hear. Praise will be given if someone has made progress or made efforts to bring about good changes. But it is different from Mardanu in the short story, who will suffer with praise from other people. According to Freud, literary psychology is divided into id, ego, and superego. Apart from literary psychology, there are also educational values that can be applied in society. The educational values conveyed also include social values, responsibility, religion, discipline, hard work, and so on. ]]>
