Abstract

The purpose of this Art Gallery designing is for giving space for the local artist to place and promote their art products. It’s because Medan city has not decent gallery according to the national standard. The surplus of this art gallery out of showing fine art is giving room experience impression to support fine art showcase. The theme of the building is a metaphor of water ripple to represent Babura river, so the art installation to the building is using water concept that gives unique aspect to building and can be art identity of Medan city. This gallery building is hoped to fulfill gallery estimation which is decent in national and international rank because Medan is the third biggest town in Indonesia where been visited by so many foreign tourists.

Abstract

Illegal settlement becomes one of the factors that cause the order of an irregular city and tend to slum. Its location in the region of the River could potentially interfere with the conservation of the river. One of the ways t design and organize the settlement as well city to make it better. This design aims to rehabilitate the area from physical, environment, facilities and infras community. In this case, a vertical research because of the narrowest area and the progressing human’s life every year. With this design, land use can be optimally, and the collaboration of architecture ecology approach which exploits the facility naturally that will be exposed human’s need with should not have to spend expenditure too much. Residential unit use container materials to provide a flexible dwelling, easy to put on and work quickly. Then, to reduce the effect of radiation is acquired by container material that contained a metal using isolation and giving aperture maximally to create a thermal situation comfortably for people. The a watering conservation is programmed by apply biofilter to distill the gray improving the economy, it will on organized by utilizing area gardening on floodplain a river that can be a part of the communal area as the waterfront.

Abstract

The construction of facilities such as Youth and Creative Center is to meet the needs facilities and urban infrastructure. As a container that enables youth to engage in positive activities to appreciate themselves, exchanging ideas and channeling energy, hobbies, and ideas shared by local youth. Strategically located on the outskirts of Medan City and located in the city center of education, the presence of the youth center is expected to take a role in the local moral and social control of the teenager which has increased annually, and hopes to someday cope with the social problems that often arise; such as fights between students, theft, vandalism, and drug with prevention to turn into a quality generation. With the existence of Youth and Creativity Center Medan-Selayang, is expected to adapt to the characteristics of teenagers who are always evolving progress of time, can interact, and be creative with others positively and in an integrated environment between education, recreation, and sport, which is useful and convenient to use. Teenagers Youth and Creativity Center is using the Neo-Vernacular Architecture design approach, which impressed magnificent and sturdy. Therefore the concept of the shape taken is a square geometric shape, and the overall shape shows the symmetrical shape.

Abstract

Lake Toba is one of the ten most priority developing tourism destinations in Indonesia, as for 2019 President Joko Widodo targets one million Lake Toba visitors. Toba region strategic location, which surrounds Lake Toba, in addition to the variety of existing natural tourism and culture, become an attraction to the visitor. But, the facilities in this area tend to be an imbalance of what was targeted by the government. The planning of Sibisa Toba Samosir Business Hotel is expected to fulfill lodge accommodation to domestic or international tourists who come over to Lake Toba business activity. Tropical climate potential with the combination of daylight, wind, and rainfall can be a consideration in design. Design approach which initiates bioclimatic architecture can be an eco-friendly building. The sustainable design also can reduce energy usage in all buildings needs aspects.

Abstract

Business Hotel and Convention Hall Selayang design start with looks of the business improvement in Medan Ring Road. Medan Ring Road has several new shopping malls and another business center. Medan Selayang District becomes the location of design because it is not located too far from the downtown and the ring road. The site refers to RDTR (Detailed Spatial Plan) Kota Medan 2035 is a commercial area which suitable to design hotel and convention hall as a commercial building. The site is located in a master plan which contains other several commercial buildings; they are a youth center, a museum of art, and shopping mall. The design of this hotel and convention hall have a concept of neo-vernacular architecture which is referred to Malay Architecture in Medan because Medan culture starts from Deli Serdang Empire which has Malay culture and architecture. Therefore, Malay Architecture is rarely visible in Medan City. Malay architecture in Medan is potential to entertain the customers and show to the local communities about the origin of Medan. The hotel design uses modern technology that mix with architecture elements in Malay Architecture. The convention hall design shows big Malay roof to be the point of view. The shape of the buildings is designed from suppression of the site shape.

Abstract

From the Central Bureau of Statistics (2014) survey for the happiness index according to the province, North Sumatra is ranked 6th lowest. This data was becoming the basis of the design background of the Medan Amusement Center. Where has, the design in the city becomes a solution due to the distance to the people of Medan for recreation, aims to save time, cost and want to build a city image. Accordingly, the design of the Medan Amusement Center, which located at Jendral Abdul HarisNasution is adjacent to the access to the Kuala Namu International Airport. The design aims to give a new face or Landmark, then the design of the Amusement Center should be an icon for easy to remember. Therefore, the theme applied to the design is High Tech where the theme gives the impression of Futuristic with the use of materials and structures.

Abstract

Medan City is one of the big cities in Indonesia that also can not be separated from the process of guidance and talent of the youth who often become issues that are closely linked with the nation's moral problems as a whole there is no guidance and talent for young people. At the regional level, the number of youths reaches 40% of the total population. It is the responsibility of the government to provide a means of talent development to boost the sporting achievements and youth work that will become leaders in the future. Based on the background of this problem required a facility that can support and develop the talent of the youths in the city of Medan.

Abstract

According to the Presidential Regulation of the Republic of Indonesia Number 62 The year 2011 on Spatial Plans of Medan, Binjai, Deli Serdang and Karo (Mebidangro), Pinang Baris was included in TOD Route Map. The commercial area will be redesigned by the division of each building function, corresponding to one of TOD's four segmentation divisions [1]. The building designed in this commercial area is a transit hotel due to its location right next to Pinang Baris Terminal, with the dominance of visitors with tourist destinations to Berastagi, Bukit Lawang, Tangkahan, Lake Toba or Aceh. Hotel Transit Pinang Baris is right in front of T.B Simatupangmain street, adjacent to Mall Pinang Baris, and fitted with Pinang Baris Market building. Inter-building integration will be applied to support the factor of commercial function in the built area. By raising the "Global Warming" Issues, the Pinang Baris Transit Hotel will apply the green architecture concept on a 2.7-hectare site area, with 1.1-hectare of land built, and overall 26.746m2 building area and a maximum height of 4 floors according to local regulations. Then the hotel will be systematically designed using Glass-Box Method with form following hotel's site and standard. From the analysis, the hotel is a 3-star hotel. The transit hotel has 128 rooms, with 120 rooms of 6x4m standard size and eight rooms of 6x6m Deluxe size. Additional facilities are available at this Transit Hotel, by 3-star standards, i.e., coffee shop, bar, swimming pool, fitness, spa & sauna, and a ballroom. Thus Transit Pinang Baris Hotel with its implementation can be a place to stay that can meet the needs of visitors in the commercial area TOD Pinang Baris.

Abstract

The development of architecture in Indonesia cannot be separated from foreign countries; we can see from the many forms of buildings in Indonesia that adopted the overseas architectural styles, one of them is Dutch Colonial Architecture Style. Pematangsiantar is one of the city that got influence from Dutch Colonial in architecture. The Building of The Mayor Office and the Ria Cinema is including the building of the colony’s historical relics around The H. Adam Malik Park Pematangsiantar that applied The Dutch Colonial Architectural Style. This research reviewed the application of Dutch Colonial Architectural Style in Indonesia in the building of The Mayor Office and Ria Cinema in Pematangsiantar. This research used the descriptive qualitative method that is, the data generated through direct observation of the object research and conduct literature study by studied the results of research and books related to Dutch Colonial Architecture Style in Indonesia. The results showed that the building of The Mayor Office in 1920, Pematangsiantar dominantly applied The Dutch Colonial Architectural Style in Indonesia in Period of 1800s-1902, Ria Cinema Pematangsiantar dominantly applied The Dutch Colonial Architectural Style in Indonesia in Period of 1920s-1940s.

Abstract

Lake Toba is one of the areas in Indonesia that has an attractive culture and tourism sector. Therefore the government targets lake Toba performance, as one of the destinations that will be prioritized especially, foreign tourists. But the facilities and infrastructure for the tourists to enjoy the diversity of local culture is still below standard. Therefore, the Sibisa cultural arts center as well as close to Sibisa airport is something that is expected to meet the needs of tourists who come to visit and enjoy the local culture and also accommodate artisans of local art workers culture.
