Abstract

Purpose: Prayer, as a fundamental act of worship in Islam, not only has spiritual value but also contains physiological dimensions that have the potential to improve musculoskeletal health. The urgency of this research lies in the need for an interdisciplinary approach that integrates thematic interpretation of the Qur'an with physiological science to understand the relationship between the spiritual dimension and human body balance. This article aims to examine the relationship between the concept of "ahsani taqwīm" in Surah Al-Tīn and the musculoskeletal balance mechanism reflected in prayer movements. Methodology: This research uses a qualitative method with a thematic interpretation approach (maudhu'i) and literature study of classical and contemporary literature on physiology, biomechanics, and interpretation. Results: The results of this study indicate that prayer movements such as bowing, prostrating, and sitting between two prostrations involve the activation of key muscles that play a role in maintaining posture and balance. The integration of the theological meaning of taqwīm and the physiology of movement demonstrates that prayer is a form of worship that is in harmony with the human anatomical system and has the potential to be a preventative therapy for musculoskeletal disorders. This research contributes to strengthening the paradigm of embodied spirituality that connects science and Islamic theology.. Applications/Originality/Value: ValueThis research contributes to strengthening the embodied spirituality paradigm that connects science and Islamic theology. In conclusion, prayer can be understood not only as an expression of faith but also as a bodily balance mechanism that reflects the perfection of human creation. Further research is recommended to test these findings through an empirical approach based on biomechanical measurements.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of teachers as role models in strengthening students’ character, particularly in instilling honesty values in the era of Society 5.0, where rapid technological advancement has significantly influenced students’ moral behavior and increased academic dishonesty. This research employed a qualitative approach using library research by reviewing relevant literature, including books, scientific journals, and research articles related to character education, teacher exemplarity, honesty values, and educational challenges in the digital era. The collected data were analyzed descriptively to identify key concepts and theoretical perspectives regarding teachers’ roles as uswah hasanah in character formation. The findings indicate that teachers’ exemplary behavior plays a crucial role in shaping students’ honesty character, reflected through consistency between words and actions, fairness in assessment, openness in communication, responsibility, and ethical use of technology in learning activities. Through continuous role modeling, teachers enable students to internalize honesty values not merely as theoretical concepts but as practical attitudes applied in daily academic life. However, teachers also face various challenges, including the influence of digital culture, external environmental factors, limited instructional time, and the dominance of instant oriented academic practices. Therefore, strengthening teachers’ awareness, professionalism, and moral commitment is essential to ensure the effectiveness of honesty character development in contemporary educational settings. This study provides conceptual insights into strengthening honesty character through teacher exemplarity and contributes to the development of character education strategies that integrate moral values with technological advancement in the Society 5.0 era.

Abstract

The development of digital technology, particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI), has driven significant transformation in the banking industry, including Islamic banking in Indonesia. Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI), as the largest Islamic bank resulting from a merger, faces great opportunities in utilizing AI to improve operational efficiency, service quality, and risk management, while also facing challenges in maintaining compliance with Islamic principles. This study aims to analyze the opportunities and challenges of implementing AI in the development of Islamic banking products and services at Bank Syariah Indonesia, with an emphasis on operational efficiency, Sharia-based risk management, digital infrastructure readiness, and human resources. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive-exploratory method. Data was obtained through a literature study of scientific articles, industry reports, policy documents, and official publications relevant to the application of AI in Islamic banking. Data analysis was conducted using qualitative descriptive methods through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, and was reinforced with source triangulation techniques to maintain data validity. The results of the study show that AI has great potential to improve BSI's operational efficiency through business process automation, more accurate risk analysis, fraud detection, and personalized customer service. However, the implementation of AI also faces significant challenges, particularly related to data infrastructure limitations, human resource readiness, and ethical and sharia compliance issues, especially algorithm transparency and the potential for gharar due to "black box" AI models. Therefore, AI development in Islamic banking needs to be directed towards strong governance, strengthening human resource competencies, and implementing explainable AI to ensure compliance with the principles of fairness, transparency, and maqashid sharia.

Abstract

Purpose: This study examines the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in education, with an emphasis on personalized learning across K–12, higher education, and online learning, and evaluates both its benefits and implementation challenges. Methodology: The research uses a qualitative literature-based synthesis of empirical and conceptual studies on AI-enabled personalized learning. Evidence is compared across education levels and learning domains to identify (1) observed learning impacts (e.g., engagement and achievement) and (2) recurring adoption barriers (e.g., infrastructure readiness, equity, and governance). Results: The findings indicate that AI-supported personalized learning can improve learner engagement and motivation by delivering adaptive content and feedback. Reported outcomes include performance gains in adaptive learning implementations, such as an increase in average scores from 68.4 to 82.7. However, implementation obstacles remain substantial, including limited infrastructure, unequal access, insufficient educator training, data privacy risks, and institutional resistance to change. Several studies also highlight unintended effects such as learner over-reliance on technology and reduced teacher–student social interaction. Applications/Originality/Value: This study consolidates cross-level evidence on where AI personalization is most effective and where it is most fragile. It provides practical implications for policymakers and institutions: invest in infrastructure, deliver sustained teacher training, and enforce strict data protection governance to enable responsible adoption. The study argues for a balanced integration model that leverages AI’s adaptivity while preserving human-centered educational values.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to analyze the construction of the meaning of maghfirah in Wahbah az-Zuḥailī’s Tafsīr al-Munīr and examine its relevance in building values of optimism in the context of modern life. The study positions maghfirah as a theological, semantic, ethical, and psychospiritual concept with significant implications for the moral development and inner well-being of individuals. Methodology: The research employs a qualitative design with content analysis of az-Zuḥailī’s interpretation of seven maghfirah-themed verses, reinforced by literature related to Qur’anic theology, ethics, and psychology. Data analysis is conducted through data reduction, narrative presentation, and structured conclusion drawing. Results: The findings indicate that az-Zuḥailī interprets maghfirah as a form of divine compassion and protection that is transformative, encompassing the purification of the soul, moral strengthening, and the opening of opportunities for life change. Each verse highlights specific emphases, ranging from universal forgiveness, divine love, to the restoration of spiritual rank, with consistency in the idea that maghfirah fosters hope and positive motivation. Applications/Originality/Value: This research contributes theoretically by mapping the role of maghfirah as the foundation of optimism within the psychospiritual framework of Islam and offers a model of understanding that can be applied in the development of Qur’anic ethics literature and studies in mental health based on religious values.

Abstract

Purpose: The digital technology era has transformed the way of learning and communicating within Islamic education. In an entirely online environment, the focus extends beyond academic achievement to include character building, spirituality, and higher-order thinking skills. Deep learning has emerged as a meaningful, reflective, and contextual pedagogical strategy. Currently, the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the education sector has reached a major transformative stage through the application of deep learning. This technology enables highly precise personalized learning, automated assessment, and the development of virtual assistants capable of understanding students' emotional needs. Methodology: This research employs a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) based on the PRISMA 2020 Statement. Results: After going through the 2020 PRISMA guidelines, we started with 37 studies. Out of those, 22 actually fit our inclusion criteria for this Systematic Literature Review. Seven of these studies came from Indonesia. Iraq, the USA, the UK and China each had two. The rest—just one each—came from South Africa, Turkey, Spain, Greece, Russia, Australia, and Central Europe. Applications/Originality/Value: Amidst the rapid advancement of AI technology in Deep Learning processes, the teacher remains a central and irreplaceable figure. AI must be positioned as a tool (wasīlah), not a replacement for educators. Teachers do not merely teach; they serve as ethical mentors who ensure that AI technology remains aligned with faith, spiritual values, and moral standards. The original contribution of this research lies in the formulation of a conceptual framework for integrating religious values into the design and implementation of AI-based learning, ensuring that technology not only enhances cognitive achievements but also shapes the character and spirituality of students.

Abstract

Character education in Indonesia is currently facing serious challenges in the form of administrative formalities and a dichotomy between ritual piety and social reality. The phenomenon of bullying, corruption, and loss of empathy is clear evidence of moral deterioration. This research aims to explore the implementation of Al-Ma'un Theology as the foundation of character education in Muhammadiyah schools in overcoming the moral crisis. The research method used is qualitative with a literature study approach. The results of the study show that Al-Ma'un Theology transforms the understanding of religion from texts to social actions through three main pillars: the cultivation of the character of generosity, the internalization of social piety, and the use of the Ismuba curriculum as an instrument of value. This implementation succeeded in synergizing individual piety with public concern, where students were educated to have empathy for the poor through real philanthropic practices. In the digital era, Al-Ma'un values are relevant as a fortress of ethics and digital moral literacy. This research confirms that Al Ma'un-based character education creates 'organic intellectuals' who are not only personally pious, but also socially progressive, so as to be able to answer global humanitarian challenges and the nation's moral crisis.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to determine the level of understanding and application of Islamic financial literacy in Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) around the University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) Campus in utilizing Islamic bank financing products. MSMEs have a strategic role in the national economy, but the level of Islamic financial literacy in Indonesia in general is still lagging behind conventional finance. Methodology: The research method used is qualitative descriptive. Data was collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation of 15 MSME actors engaged in various fields, especially culinary. The sampling technique was carried out by purposive sampling and data analysis using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña models which included data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawn. Results: The results of the study show that the level of sharia financial literacy of MSME actors around UMS is still relatively low. In terms of knowledge, the majority of respondents were in the category of Not Literate (46.7%) and Less Literate (40.0%). In terms of financial behavior, most respondents (66.7%) are in the Less Literacy category. Regarding access to financing, as many as 60.0% of respondents were in the Not Literate category, which showed a major obstacle in reaching Islamic banking products due to a lack of understanding of the product and how to apply. This study concludes the need for more active and innovative socialization from Islamic banking to increase the literacy and interest of MSME actors in sharia financing products.

Abstract

This article examines the position of teachers in contemporary education through a pedagogical study of the content of Qur’anic Surah Al-Mujādilah (58) verse 11. The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics and challenges of contemporary education, to examine the position of teachers in both national and international contexts, and to reveal the Qur’anic pedagogical foundations concerning teachers’ dignity and justice. This research employs a qualitative approach based on library research using the pedagogical exegesis method (Tafsir Tarbawi), focusing on conceptual and normative analysis of the Qur’anic text as well as scholarly literature on contemporary education and teacher professionalism. The findings indicate that contemporary education is characterized by the dominance of instrumental rationality, the standardization of educational systems, and increasing professional demands on teachers that are not always accompanied by social recognition and structural justice. This condition creates a gap between the professionalism expected of teachers and the social status they receive. Qur’anic Surah Al-Mujādilah (58) verse 11 provides a pedagogical foundation that emphasizes the elevation of rank based on faith and knowledge; therefore, dignity, moral integrity, and social justice become fundamental principles in understanding teacher professionalism. This study affirms that the Qur’anic perspective offers a relevant value framework for reaffirming the dignity of teachers within contemporary educational systems.
