Abstract

Pekerja Migran Indonesia (PMI) or Indonesian Migrant Workers in Jordan face many problems, especially educational problems, this happens because the majority of them only graduated from elementary school (SD) and do not have sufficient religious knowledge. To overcome this problem, pengabdian kepada masyarakat kemitraan international or  the Community Service International Partnership (PKM-KI) team at Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta (UMS) runs Muhammadiyah Community School project for PMI in Balad Jordan. Various institutions from Jordan, such as PCIM Jordan, PPI Jordan, and the Indonesian Embassy in Jordan, collaborated this project. A Situation analysis was carried out through interviews with partners to start the project planning process. The implementation stage involved determining basic school values, creating learning materials, and training for participants. The results of the evaluation, which was conducted through direct interviews and observations, showed improvements in PMI's social-emotional and religious skills, as well as more ties and awareness of the importance of education. To ensure continuity of learning and evaluation of progress, the mentoring stage was carried out periodically via the Whatsapp group. Therefore, the Muhammadiyah community school pilot project was successful in addressing PMI education problems in Jordan through a collaborative approach between universities, community organizations and government institutions. This shows that community education is a relevant solution to improve the welfare and quality of life of PMI. Thus, through a collaborative approach between community organizations, universities and government institutions, the pioneering Muhammadiyah community school in Balad Amman Jordan has succeeded in overcoming the educational challenges faced by PMIs in Jordan. Abstract

The phenomenon of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang live streaming has become a popular form of entertainment, especially among teenagers, yet the behavior of streamers during live broadcasts often displays diverse characteristics that can potentially influence the viewers' morals. This study aims to analyze the character of Mobile Legends streamers from the perspective of Islamic morals, focusing on how their behavior impacts viewers, particularly teenagers who are prone to idolizing streamers. Using qualitative methods and content analysis, this research identifies two main categories: commendable morals (akhlaq mahmudah) and disgraceful morals (akhlaq madzmumah). Streamers like Marsha Ozawa and R7 Tatsumaki exhibit commendable traits such as patience, teamwork, and self-control, while others like Pascol and Brandon Kent display negative behaviors, including using harsh language, acting impulsively, and showing ungratefulness. These streamer behaviors significantly impact viewers, with negative actions normalizing poor habits and positive actions inspiring Islamic values. This study highlights the importance of educating streamers about Islamic morals and the role of streaming platforms in creating a digital environment that is both educational and ethical.

Abstract

Previous studies have examined leadership and democratic values in Islamic boarding schools, including modern leadership styles and daily activities that reflect democratic principles. However, research on organizational development as a foundation for democratic education in modern pesantren remains limited. This study aims to describe the actualization of democracy education through the development of the organizational structure. This study used qualitative descriptive methods. The result of this study shows that the organizational leadership structure must adopt a democratic and collective pattern to eliminate power dominance by any single individual or group. Deliberation serves as the foundation for establishing and implementing the organizational system in modern boarding schools. The findings of this study can contribute to the scientific development of Islamic education by presenting a model of a democratic modern Islamic boarding school organizational structure, which is able to integrate democratic values into institutional practices and learning as a form of innovation in character and citizenship education.

Abstract

The integration of epistemological theories into educational management has received limited scholarly attention, despite its potential to enhance the effectiveness and responsiveness of educational leadership, curriculum design, and policy-making. This study aims to systematically identify, analyze, and synthesize relevant literature on how key epistemological theories—namely constructivism, empiricism, rationalism, and pragmatism—are applied in the context of educational management. Using a qualitative Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach, 40 peer-reviewed articles published between 2013 and 2023 were selected through a rigorous search in databases such as Scopus, Web of Science, ERIC, and ScienceDirect. The analysis was conducted using Braun and Clarke’s thematic analysis framework to extract dominant themes, trends, challenges, and conceptual implications. The findings show that epistemological integration influences strategic planning, teaching evaluation, institutional governance, and leadership development. Constructivist approaches foster participatory and reflective management practices; empiricism supports evidence-based decisions; rationalism emphasizes systematic reasoning; and pragmatism promotes contextual and flexible policy-making. However, institutional challenges such as epistemological illiteracy among decision-makers and the lack of cross-disciplinary dialogue limit broader implementation. This study offers a theoretical foundation and practical recommendations to embed epistemology into educational management, while also highlighting the need for further empirical research to operationalize these frameworks in diverse educational contexts.

Abstract

Evaluating Learning Motivation as a Mediator Between Family Environment and Academic Achievement: Evidence from Indonesian Secondary Students. Objective: This study aims to investigate the role of motivation as a mediating factor in the relationship between family environment and academic achievement in the Indonesian context. Previous studies have examined the relationships between family environment and academic achievement, as well as the connection between learning motivation and academic achievement. However, based on a literature review, a study investigating the relationship between family environment and academic achievement with learning motivation as a mediating variable has not yet been conducted in Indonesia. Methods: A quantitative approach using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was applied to a sample of 156 students from a junior high school in West Java. Results: The results show a significant effect of family environment on learning motivation (β: 0.502, p < 0.001), and a significant effect of learning motivation on academic achievement (β: 0.276, p = 0.030). However, the effect of family environment on academic achievement was not significant, confirming the full mediation of learning motivation. However, the influence of the family environment on learning achievement is not significant, as evidenced by the full mediation of learning motivation (Indirect Effect: 0.129, p = 0.046). Therefore, educational interventions that combine family awareness and student engagement strategies are necessary to help students achieve satisfying academic performance in school. Conclusion: Although the family is the primary environment in the process of student growth and development, its influence on learning achievement occurs indirectly. This influence becomes significant only when the family environment fosters students' motivation to learn. Educational interventions need to strategically integrate increased awareness and the active role of the family with programs to strengthen students' learning motivation, as motivation is a key link between family support and academic success. Keywords: learning motivation, family environment, academic achievement, students.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the role of education in supporting adolescents' transition to adulthood, focusing on its impact on psychosocial development, identity formation, and emotional regulation. The approach used is a systematic literature review (SLR) with the PRISMA 2020 guidelines to ensure transparency and accuracy in data synthesis. A literature search was conducted on the Scopus database, which yielded 10 articles that met the inclusion criteria related to formal education and adolescent development. The results showed that education has a significant influence on shaping self-identity, improving emotional regulation, and preparing adolescents for mature decision-making, especially regarding careers and social responsibilities. In addition, education also improves psychological well-being, with interventions that combine social-emotional learning and experiences that enhance adolescents' emotional resilience. These findings also highlight the importance of the role of family and an inclusive educational environment in supporting adolescent development. Based on these findings, it is recommended that education policies place greater emphasis on psychosocial aspects rather than just academics, by creating an educational environment that supports the development of adolescents' identity, autonomy, and emotional well-being. Education that focuses on social-emotional development can accelerate adolescents' transition to healthier and more responsible adulthood.

Abstract

This research aims to provide a systematic review of the application of deep learning technology in education and the challenges faced in its implementation. With the increasing adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) technology in education, especially in personalized learning, this research is important to understand the potential and barriers that affect the successful implementation of this technology. The main objective of this study is to identify the application of deep learning in education, evaluate the challenges faced, and assess its impact on the quality of learning in the formal and non-formal sectors. The method used is a systematic literature review by following the PRISMA 2020 guidelines. Relevant articles were selected from various academic databases published between 2020 and 2026. After screening, 13 articles that met the inclusion criteria were analyzed using narrative synthesis and thematic analysis approaches. The results show that deep learning can improve learning personalization, provide faster feedback, and increase student engagement. However, the main challenges faced are the limitations of technology infrastructure, unrepresentative data quality, and the difficulty of educators in integrating this technology. Issues related to data privacy and technology access gaps are also significant obstacles. This study recommends the need for policies that support more equitable access to technology, educator training, and increased transparency in the use of deep learning models.

Abstract

Purpose: This study examines the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in education, with an emphasis on personalized learning across K–12, higher education, and online learning, and evaluates both its benefits and implementation challenges. Methodology: The research uses a qualitative literature-based synthesis of empirical and conceptual studies on AI-enabled personalized learning. Evidence is compared across education levels and learning domains to identify (1) observed learning impacts (e.g., engagement and achievement) and (2) recurring adoption barriers (e.g., infrastructure readiness, equity, and governance). Results: The findings indicate that AI-supported personalized learning can improve learner engagement and motivation by delivering adaptive content and feedback. Reported outcomes include performance gains in adaptive learning implementations, such as an increase in average scores from 68.4 to 82.7. However, implementation obstacles remain substantial, including limited infrastructure, unequal access, insufficient educator training, data privacy risks, and institutional resistance to change. Several studies also highlight unintended effects such as learner over-reliance on technology and reduced teacher–student social interaction. Applications/Originality/Value: This study consolidates cross-level evidence on where AI personalization is most effective and where it is most fragile. It provides practical implications for policymakers and institutions: invest in infrastructure, deliver sustained teacher training, and enforce strict data protection governance to enable responsible adoption. The study argues for a balanced integration model that leverages AI’s adaptivity while preserving human-centered educational values.
