Abstract

The purpose of the research was to evaluate the physical characteristics and sensory of bread from the composite flours of wheat and cassava with optimum fermentation and the proportional water volume. The study was conducted by optimizing the fermentation of the dough and using the proportional water volume. The research was conducted with 4 treatments of composite wheat flour and cassava flour, which were 100: 0, 90:10, 80:20, and 70:30. The bread was then tested for the expansion, hardness, elasticity and sensory acceptance. The results indicated that the higher portion of cassava flour, the lower the expansion of bread. The highest expansion of bread was given by the 100: 0, which was 64.9 mm for 55 min fermentation. The highest hardness of bread was displayed by the 70:30, which was 3482.7 g for 75 min fermentation and 3372 g for 85 min fermentation, whereas, the lowest hardness of bread was shown by the 100:0, was 1355.3 g for 55 min fermentation. Variations of composite flour ratios of wheat and cassava flours affected the color, aroma, taste, texture and overall acceptance of bread. The composite flour 100:0 gave the highest overall sensory acceptance, followed by the 80:20.

Abstract

Previous studies reported findings that indicate drawbacks linked to the long-term completion of the final assignment at various universities in Indonesia. One of the major findings of these studies revealed that the communication problem between students and supervisors is the main obstacle in the completion of their final assignment. Based on the assessment and observation at the level of Bachelor’s degree (S1) and magister program (S2), it can be assumed that a high number of lecturers/supervisors incline to allocate less special time for guiding their students. They commonly give various reasons and indecisive time for guidance. The reason such as the lecturers’ reluctance to supervise students in relation to their less interest of student’s final paper topics, dislike of the student’s personality, absence of consultation schedule without obvious reason, and being emotional in supervising the students’ writing. In the contemporary era, communication is dominated by the individual use of social media. Each individual must always be connected with Smartphone, including lecturers and students. In addition, it also affects the communication pattern of lecturers and students. This research is a literature study using qualitative approach. It was done by examining and analyzing the prevailing problems based on the existing literature. Based on the analysis, it can be concluded that code of ethics is needed as solution to overcome the problems of communication between student and supervisor. It formulates code of ethics named the “ETIC" code as a system or norm established as a set of basic principles of communication between students and supervisors to promote effective and efficient final assignment guidance in the contemporary era. "ETIC" is the acronym of the four basic principles of Ethics (E), Timeliness (T), Innovation (I), and Transparency (C). In addition, the “ETIC” code is expected to support the acceleration program of final assignment completion. Nevertheless, both systematic administrative procedures and the ease of access to documents of administrative requirements for final assignment are required to support the implementation of this code. In addition, the monitoring and evaluation process of this code and the acceleration program of final assignment completion are performed by the Final Assignment Ethics Review Committee (FAERC).

Abstract

Nowadays, private labeling has become a widely implemented strategy by modern market retailers. Retailers such as supermarkets and hypermarkets have superior supply chain in the country that they begin to extend their brand and make their own products, which is called private brand. The growth of private brands in Indonesia has been fairly stagnant as brand names step up both promotional activity and innovation efforts to protect share positions and drive growth. Based on Nielsen survey, the private label share in Indonesia only reaches one percentage. Why has the growth of private labelling in Indonesia been so slow? In short, Asian shoppers are strongly brand-loyal and retailers have not invested enough in marketing private label to persuade shoppers to trust its quality. Meanwhile, Superindo as one of the biggest retails in Indonesia has 8% growth of private brand share. Numerous studies have identified several factors affecting the purchase decision of private brand, and yet little empirical research has investigated the factors underlying consumer’s purchase decision of private brand in Indonesia especially of Superindo. In order to expand market share, private brands need to clearly identify what triggers consumer purchases. This paper aims to investigate the relationship between consumer’s decision-making styles and actual purchases of private label products in Indonesia market. This paper extends the work of Glynn and Chen (2009), Lian Fong et al (2015), and Thanasuta (2015) by examining Price consciousness, Price-quality association, Brand loyalty, Quality variability, Search vs. experience, Price perceived, Promotion, Brand Image, Quality Consciousness, Brand Consciousness, Value Consciousness, and Risk perception factors for investigation. In this research, both secondary data and primary were utilized. The primary data in the form of quantitative data were collected through online survey to 400 respondents and factor analysis was employed to identify the associations. The secondary data were obtained from relevant literatures, online journals, articles, blogs, and other electronic sources. The results indicate that Brand Consciousness and Search vs. experience influence consumer’s proneness to buy Private Brand.

Abstract

The aim of this paper was to present an overview of Indonesia’s automotive component export by the country of destination. The data were taken from the Statistics Indonesia (Badan Pusat Statistik/BPS) of 2014, particularly the code of HS8708. Descriptive statistics, cluster analysis and principal component analysis were used in the analysis. The results showed that histogram of total export value indicated that the curve was skewed to the right which means there were some extreme values on the right. The largest export value, subsequently, came from Thailand, Japan, and Malaysia. Based on dendogram of the cluster analysis, there were five clusters of country of destination. Meanwhile the countries of destination include Thailand, Japan, Malaysia, Brazil, Mexico, and others. Biplot principal component analysis identified the diverse characteristics of export destination countries among clusters. Gear boxes, clutches, and chasis frames were mostly demanded by Thailand; most of road wheels and part of radiators were exported to Japan; numbers of fuel tanks were sent to Malaysia; drive axles were mostly exported to the cluster of China, United Kingdom, and Philippines; while high demand of radiator spare-parts were obtained from United States.

Abstract

It must be recognized that rivers differ among themselves, and through time, one river can vary significantly in itsdownstream direction. Most of the riversclassification was published by US or European researchers. In fact, these classifications of the river cannot be applied thoroughly to other regions such Asian Countries due to its differentcharacteristics and situations. Therefore, the general purpose of thisresearch is to establish a simple and easy-touse practice in interpreting the morphological aspect of river by using planimetric characteristics. We selected four major rivers to develop the conceptual model for classification of meandering rivers in Borneo (Kalimantan) Island. Further, we divided themeandering rivers in Borneo Island by three zones to get the informed data in detail. Based on the results, the variability variesin all planimetric characteristics except the slope, which is considered as conformity.

Abstract

Most waste disposal sites in developing country are still using open dumping and open burning. However, in developing countries, there are a lot of economic and technical problems with high level landfill technologies of first world countries, which makeimplementation of improvement is not feasible. Therefore, there is a significant need for transfer of landfill technology that is considered simpler, low cost, and that can be maintained locally. A method that provides these standards, which has recently gathered attention is the Fukuoka Method (semi-aerobic landfill).By life cycle cost analysis method, with the lifespan of the landfill is 20 years and an estimated volume of586,789 m3 (469,431tons), the required capital investment was about US$296,739 (natural clay liner)and US$463,406 (syntheticliner) or about US$0.63 and US$0.99/ton of waste. It is also calculated thatthe total cost of operation was about US$3,187,728 or US$6.79/ton of waste. The closure cost of the landfill was estimated to beUS$278,116 or US$0.59/ton of waste.
