Abstract

Life-satisfaction is an important thing for the elderly. Elderly with all its problems such as a decrease in physical, psychological, and social conditions can feel a decrease in life satisfaction. The decrease in life satisfaction may be avoided if the elderly have a high level of wisdom. This study aimed to see the contribution of wisdom to the life-satisfaction of elderly people. The research subjects were 65 elderly people aged 60 years and over in Yogyakarta. Data retrieval was done using the adaptation of 3D-WS Ardelt (2003) scale to measure wisdom and the translation of Life Satisfaction Index Z Neugarten scale (1961) to measure life satisfaction levels. Research data were analyzed using regression analysis. The analysis found that the affective dimension of wisdom was a significant predictor of life satisfaction in the elderly (b = 0.540; p = 0.003).

Abstract

The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between a father’s involvement and his efficacy to an empathic father. Efficacy to an empathic father was measured using fathering efficacy scale developed by the researcher. Father’s involvement was measured using the Inventory of Father Involvement which modified by a researcher with alpha coefficient 0.992. The subject of this study were 80 fathers of the first children at the elementary age. The data were analyzed using product-moment correlation. The analysis showed a correlation coefficient of 0.442 (p<0.01). That means there was a significant relationship between efficacy on an empathic father and his father’s involvement. Father’s involvement explained 19.5 % of the variance in efficacy on an empathic father. The study showed that father involvement increased efficacy to be an empathic father.

Abstract

This research aimed to examine cognitive learning as a mediator of the relationship between intrinsic learning motivation and statistics learning achievement. The data were collected through the motivation scale of intrinsic learning and cognitive learning strategy. Statistics learning achievement was measured through the grades of mid-semester exam and final exam. The subjects in this research were 208 undergraduate students who took a statistics class.  Multiple regression analysis through mediation model indicated that cognitive learning strategy was a partial mediator for the motivational role of intrinsic learning on statistics learning achievement (p<0.05). However, among four forms of cognitive learning strategy, only rehearsal and organizational learning strategies were capable of predicting statistics learning (p<0.05).

Abstract

The key success for an organization with a millennial workforce to win the competitiveness of the business industry in 4.0 era is having a compatible model of work engagement. In 2020 millennials will dominate, up to 75% of the labor force. Therefore it is necessary to scientifically inquire deeper on this generation. This research adopts the Job Demand Resources Model (JD-R) as a theoretical framework. It specifically aims to analyze the most suitable work engagement model among millennials who work at state-owned companies. Predictor variables in this research are job crafting and meaningful work as a mediator.  This quantitative research (N=318) uses scaling for data collection and Structural Equation Model (SEM) to test the data. This research found: (1) work engagement model fits for the millennial workforce; (2) job crafting has direct significant effect to work engagement; (3) meaningful work plays as a mediator between job crafting and work engagement.

Abstract

This study aimed to find out how young adult understand the economic disparity issue and whether ideas related to that problem had authoritarianism and materialism inclinations. The study was done to a group of university students age 18 – 30 years old. There were 295 people participating in the study. It utilized a survey with an open-ended questionnaire to figure out participants’ feelings and thoughts toward economic disparity. Subjects also filled out authoritarianism and materialism scales. The result showed that subjects’ responses toward economic disparity could be categorized into three types: 1) critical response (structural), 2) naive individualistic response and 3) fatalistic response. Most subjects provided a naive individualistic response. Result of the cross-tabulation test showed that authoritarianism had a negative correlation with a critical response but had a positive correlation with naive individualistic response. Materialism had a positive correlation with naive individualistic response. Authorianism and materialism were not related to a fatalistic response.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to examine the effect of leader-member exchange (LMX) and occupational stress on the turnover intention on PT. Komatsu Indonesia’s employees. It was hypothesized that leader-member exchange (LMX) and occupational stress predict turnover intention together. The subjects of this study were 66 employees of PT. Komatsu Indonesia that had been working for at least 3 years. The data were obtained using the turnover intention scale, LMX-MDM (Leader-Member Exchange-Multidimensional Dimension Measure) scale, and SDS (Stress Diagnostic Survey) scale. The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression. Results showed that occupational stress significantly predicts turnover intention. The hypothesis was rejected because leader-member exchange (LMX) and occupational stress didn’t predict turnover intention together. The significance level of occupational stress’s effect on turnover intention is 0.044 (p<0.05) and it explained 7.2% of turnover intention. Findings does not support the role of LMX and occupational stress in predicting turn over intention.
