Abstract

The goal of this research is to identify the factors that lead to financial difficulties for businesses in the transportation sector. Many separate theoretical investigations and empirical studies on the causes of financial distress were pooled together to form the basis for this inquiry. This research strategy takes a causal associational tack. Purposive sampling was used to select 16 transportation-related companies trading on the Indonesia Stock Exchange during the study's time period (2019-2021). Logistic regression using SPSS 25 is the method used for analysis. Financial difficulty was found to be related solely to the size of the company. Meanwhile, inflation and currency rates, both macroeconomic variables, have little effects on financial distress. In order for it to serve as a cohesive role model, we suggest that future research on financial distress through firm size, which is a component of financial and macroeconomic ratios, be prioritized. Most of the previous research only used the variable financial ratios as a whole and no one has detailed them yet. However, the focus of the significance of our research is on the comprehensive and overall description of these aspects as well as the details of the drivers of financial distress.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic not only has an impact on health, but also has an impact on income levels for street vendors (PKL) in the Yahim District, Jayapura City. Even though street vendors continue to run their businesses, they are always controlled by the government. People are obliged to follow the regulations set by the government on the other hand they must fulfill their family's economic needs. Society must be able to adapt to changing social environmental conditions. The aim of this research is to analyze the forms of active adaptation and passive adaptation carried out by street vendors during the Covid-19 pandemic. There are several forms of active adaptation carried out by street vendors, namely continuing to run the business but with lower production volumes, continuing to run the business with the risk of receiving sanctions from the government, reducing expenses for household needs, and prioritizing basic needs in the form of food, education and health. Meanwhile, the form of passive adaptation carried out by street vendors is temporarily closing their businesses in accordance with government regulations, utilizing remaining capital or profits from businesses run before the Covid-19 pandemic, and utilizing savings.

The local finance institution in Bali is popular called Lembaga Perkreditan Desa (LPD). The GCG principles used in this study are transparency, accountability, responsibility, independence, and fairness. The population in this study was 557 employees. There are 102 respondents collected using the purposive sampling method which consists of the head of LPD, the head of the supervisory board, and the head of the accounting of each LPD in Denpasar. The data analysis technique used is multiple linear regression analysis. The research results show that independence positively influences the performance of LPD. In contrast, transparency, accountability, responsibility, and fairness do not affect LPD performance. The LPD’s management has an important role in increasing the principle of independence because independence has the most dominant influence on the performance of LPD in Denpasar.

Abstract

The research focuses on determining the effect of commercial bank’s market power on net interest margin and the moderating role of financial access. The study uses annual data of 33 commercial banks in Indonesia from 2012 to 2019 based on the category of State-Owned Commercial Banks and National Private Commercial Banks. The data is obtained from secondary data, using financial reports published by commercial banks. The data is analyzed using moderated regression analysis to estimate two models, basic model is used to estimate the effect of market power on net interest margin, while the interaction model is used to estimate the moderating effect of financial access. Market power was measured using the Lerner index of each bank. Financial access was measured by the number of branches and the availability of electronic banking channels such as mobile banking, internet banking, and digital branch. The results show that the increase in commercial bank’s market power significantly increases net interest margin. Other results also show that branch and mobile banking & internet banking significantly moderate the effect of market power on the net interest margin, while the digital branch is not significantly moderating the relationship between market power and net interest margin.
