Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of social capital on the household welfare of women entrepreneurs in the weaving industry in Bima City. Social capital is measured through three dimensions: bonding social capital, bridging social capital, and linking social capital, with demographic factors as control variables, including education level, number of household members, and length of business. The study used a quantitative approach with explanatory sequential mixed methods. Quantitative data were obtained through questionnaires distributed to women entrepreneurs in the weaving industry in Bima City, while qualitative data were obtained through interviews and observations to support the analysis. Data analysis was conducted using binary probit regression to test the influence of social capital on the probability of households achieving welfare status. The results showed that linking social capital has a positive influence on the opportunity to achieve household welfare, while bonding social capital and bridging social capital have not shown a significant influence. In addition, education level also contributes to improving household welfare. These findings indicate that access to formal institutions, government, financial institutions, and empowerment programs play an important role in improving the household welfare of women entrepreneurs in the weaving industry in Bima City.

Abstract

This study examines the income transformation among micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) street vendors during large-scale religious events, with a particular focus on the Sholawatan Al-Busyra gathering in Bangil Square. Using qualitative descriptive methods involving in-depth interviews and direct field observations, the study investigates variations in sales volume, consumer behavior, and profit margins before, during, and after the event. The findings indicate that the vendors' daily income increases substantially by approximately 120–180% during the religious celebration. This economic surge is primarily driven by the influx of visitors, the emergence of emotionally and spiritually motivated purchasing behavior, and the amplification effect of social media promotions. Beyond the direct economic benefits, the event demonstrates how religious activities can serve as a catalyst for local community-based economic development. However, persistent issues such as inadequate infrastructure, limited sanitation facilities, and ineffective waste management pose significant challenges to achieving sustainable economic empowerment for MSMEs.

Abstract

Gender Mainstreaming is a development strategy aimed at achieving gender equality through the integration of gender perspectives into every stage of regional development. Although the Government of East Kalimantan Province has enacted Regional Regulation Number 5 of 2024 concerning Gender Mainstreaming in Regional Development, its implementation still encounters several challenges, including limited inter-agency coordination, inadequate human resource capacity, and uneven understanding of Gender Responsive Planning and Budgeting. This study aims to analyze the implementation of Gender Mainstreaming policy in regional development in East Kalimantan Province and identify the supporting and inhibiting factors affecting its implementation. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed using interviews, observation, and documentation techniques. Data were analyzed using the interactive analysis model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña. The implementation analysis adopted George C. Edward III's policy implementation model consisting of communication, resources, disposition, and bureaucratic structure. The findings reveal that the implementation of Gender Mainstreaming policy has generally been effective. Communication has been carried out through regular dissemination, technical assistance, and monitoring. Resources are supported by adequate regulations, institutional arrangements, the Klik SiGen application, and increasing Gender Responsive Budget allocations, although human resource capacity remains a challenge. The disposition dimension reflects the commitment of local government institutions and strategic partnerships in promoting gender equality. The bureaucratic structure has been strengthened through Gender Mainstreaming Working Groups, Gender Focal Points, Driver Teams, and cross-sector coordination mechanisms. Supporting factors include regulatory commitment, institutional capacity, and collaborative governance, whereas the main constraints involve limited human resources, inadequate gender-disaggregated data, and the misconception that Gender Mainstreaming is solely the responsibility of the Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Office.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the level of human resource (HR) readiness in implementing the Integrated Dynamic Archival Information System (SRIKANDI) application at the South Sumatra Provincial Archives Office. The approach used was descriptive qualitative research with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The analysis was conducted using the E- Readiness theoretical framework from the Harvard Kennedy School combined with the People dimension of the STOPE Framework. The results of the study indicate that HR readiness is in the transitional or fairly ready category, with three main dimensions being examined: support, capacity, and value. From the support aspect, implementation has been supported by hierarchical regulations from the central to regional governments. From the capacity aspect, some employees have been able to operate the application, although there is still a gap in digital competency among employees. From the value aspect, the SRIKANDI application has been proven to increase administrative efficiency and encourage a transformation of work culture towards electronic-based governance. Supporting factors include the development of digital competencies, employee openness to technology, and leadership support. Inhibiting factors include the disparity in digital capabilities among employees, dependence on non-civil servants, and limited internal information technology experts.

Abstract

This study examines the effect of Related Party Transactions (RPT) and Capital Intensity (CI) on Tax Aggressiveness, with Earnings Management serving as an intervening variable and Audit Quality as a moderating variable. The study employs a quantitative approach using industrial sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange during the 2019–2023 period. The final sample consists of 12 companies, resulting in 60 firm-year observations. Panel data regression analysis is employed to test the proposed hypotheses. The results indicate that Related Party Transactions do not affect Earnings Management but have a positive effect on Tax Aggressiveness, and this relationship is not mediated by Earnings Management. In contrast, Capital Intensity positively affects Earnings Management but does not significantly affect Tax Aggressiveness, although its effect on Tax Aggressiveness is mediated by Earnings Management. Furthermore, Earnings Management has a significant negative effect on Tax Aggressiveness, while Audit Quality does not moderate the relationship between Earnings Management and Tax Aggressiveness.

Abstract

This study addresses a phenomenon that challenges a fundamental assumption of Norm Activation Theory (NAT): that consumer personal norms are not sufficiently strong to consistently drive the intention to support sustainable practices among micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in the food and beverage sector. The study aims to examine whether the inclusion of mediating and moderating variables can explain why the relationship between personal norms and consumer intention has appeared weak and inconsistent in previous research. A quantitative explanatory approach was employed, utilizing purposive sampling to select 204 consumers with experience consuming eco-friendly products from MSMEs. Data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (SmartPLS 4). The results indicate that personal norms have a significant positive effect on consumer intention (β = 0.167; p = 0.027); however, the strength of this effect relies heavily on two linking mechanisms: perceived behavioral control was found to significantly mediate the relationship, whereas attitude toward behavior did not. Regarding moderation, brand engagement negatively moderated the relationship between personal norms and consumer intention, while social media influence was not found to act as a moderator. These findings suggest that NAT needs to be extended to incorporate conditional cognitive (behavioral control) and relational (brand engagement) mechanisms to more precisely explain how personal norms translate into the intention to support MSME green marketing.

Abstract

Inconsistent evidence on how social media marketing (SMM) affects purchase intention for high-involvement products motivates this study of Instagram-based SMM among Generation Z and Millennial consumers of local Indonesian skincare brands. Grounded in the Theory of Planned Behavior, the study tests whether consumer involvement and attitude towards influencer-endorsed products mediate the SMM-purchase intention relationship. Data from 251 respondents were analyzed using PLS-SEM. All five hypotheses were supported: SMM most strongly drives involvement, which shapes attitude and directly raises purchase intention, while attitude towards influencer-endorsed products is the strongest predictor of purchase intention, and involvement significantly mediates the SMM-purchase intention link. The novelty lies in treating involvement as a full mediator rather than a moderator. Managerially, local skincare brands should build engaging, personalized Instagram content to raise involvement, then leverage credible influencers to shape attitude. SMM exposure alone does not directly drive purchase intention; it works through involvement and attitude formation

Abstract

This study measures technical efficiency and identifies the determinants of technical inefficiency in Indonesia’s basic metal industry during 2017 to 2019 by using a translog stochastic frontier model. The analysis employs firm-level data from the annual manufacturing large and medium industry survey (IBS) of Bureau Statistics Indonesia, comprising a balanced panel of a 420 firms with 1,260 observations, and is estimated following the Battese Coelli (1995) with one-step-approach. The results reveal that the basic metal industry is on average 90.58% technically efficient, leaving an aggregate output gap of approximately 11.6%. it is noted that downstreaming depth contributed most strongly to reducing technical inefficiency, followed by import intensity, and export orientation, whereas firm size contributed to higher inefficiency, meanwhile foreign ownership and research and development were found to be insignificant. The estimates of input elasticities indicate that material is the dominant input, and the industry operates under slightly increasing returns to scale. Suggesting that capacity expansion through smelter development remains economically efficient. These findings provide firm-level quantitative evidence that the mineral downstreaming policy is associated not only with higher aggregate value added but also with improved production efficiency.
