Abstract

Early childhood has several aspects that need to be developed to be able to improve cognitive and psychomotor development. One of these aspects is language proficiency. At the age of 2-6 years is the golden age which is the age of children in the early days of their life in the world. This age is at the best development for the child's physique and brain. Similarly, speaking skills need to be trained from an early age in order to form more appropriate speaking skills. This research is a qualitative research conducted by reducing data, presenting data and drawing conclusions. The results of this study show that early children between 2-3 years still speak using syllables or final spoken words, while early children aged 4-5 years who have begun to enter preschool have begun to be able to form words by displaying morphemes, and syntax.

Abstract

The problem mostly experienced by EFL students is the assumption of difficulty in reading English texts. Thus educators are always looking for the best teaching approach methods to develop skills, especially in reading skills.  The present study mainly describes the students’ voices about using SQ3R in improving reading skills in the Indonesian higher education context. This study belongs to a descriptive qualitative study. Data were gathered through observation and interviews with students. The results of the study demonstrate that most students believe that the existence of the SQ3R method can have an impact on the learning process of students. It has benefits including improving students' reading comprehension skills, increasing high curiosity, and being able to provide experiences of understanding discourse more easily.

Abstract

This research seeks to determine the effectiveness of implementing the Directed Reading Thinking Activity (DRTA) strategy in enhancing the reading comprehension abilities of Grade 11 students at SMK SW Persiapan Pematang Siantar during the academic year 2022/2023. The study utilized a quantitative research approach with a quasi-experiment design. The dependent variable is the student's reading comprehension ability, while the independent variable is the DRTA strategy. The research subjects were Grade 11 students at SMK SW Persiapan Pematang Siantar during the academic year 2022/2023. The study's objective is to evaluate the effectiveness of the DRTA strategy on reading comprehension. The study utilized pre-test and post-test instruments, and the results indicated that the mean score of the experimental group was higher than the control group. Therefore, it can be deduced that implementing the DRTA strategy positively influences the reading comprehension ability of Grade 11 students at SMK SW Persiapan Pematang Siantar during the academic year 2022/2023.

Abstract

This study aimed to discover the strategies for learning Arabic in increasing students' interest in studying mufrodat material for class VII Mts Al Khiriyah Bandar Lampung. The monotonous strategy causes a lack of students' interest in learning Arabic. This study used descriptive qualitative methods with student research subjects—data collection techniques using questionnaires, interviews and documentation. Interest is one of the student's internal factors significantly influencing learning success. High interest in learning will make students enthusiastic and can easily achieve the competencies to be achieved. To motivate students, certain strategies are needed in learning. This study's results indicate an increase in student learning interest in class VII Mufrodat material at MTs Al Khairiyah Bandar Lampung in terms of the results of interviews and student questionnaires. CTL (Contextual Teaching and Learning) and PAKEM (Participatory, Active, Creative, Effective) use strategies to enhance learning.

Abstract

This research aims at contrasting two languages, including Indonesian as the source language (SL) and English as the target language (TL). This research data was taken from the news article “6 Fakta Baru Kecelakaan Maut Cibubur Hingga Sopir-Kernet Truk Tersangka” on detikNews website. The researchers used the qualitative method with textual analysis from books, journals and news as the data collection technique in this research. Based on the research result, the researchers found 29 declarative sentences from the news article. According to the text source, there are five similar patterns in Indonesian and English, including SP, SC, SPO, SPC and SPOC. And there are distinct patterns in Indonesian and English, setting them apart. Indonesian exhibits the SPOO and SCPC patterns, which are not found in English. Conversely, English showcases the SPSPC, SPOPC, and SPOCPC patterns not found in Indonesian. Additionally, these patterns are accompanied by varying phrases in each language.

Abstract

This study describes the urgency of using the English Vocabulary Card media. Card media contains pictures (objects, animals, and so on) that can train students and create vocabulary, these cards become instructions or stimuli for students to improve student learning outcomes. The purpose of the researchers conducting this research was to find out the increase in student learning outcomes using the English Vocabulary Card X media at SMAN 1 Tubaba. This research method uses a quantitative method using questionnaires, tests, and documentation instruments. The test was carried out 2 times, namely the pretest to find out the students' initial abilities, and the second test was the posttest to find out the results of the increase in student learning. The samples were taken using random sampling for class X SMAN 1 Tubaba. The results showed that there was an effect of using the English Vocabulary Card media on improving student learning outcomes based on the results of the pretest before using the English Vocabulary Card media, which was equal to 25% in the low category, after using the English Vocabulary Card media, students' grades could increase by 75% in the low category become high category.
