Abstract

Teaching is a profession that requires high dedication and commitment due to the heavy workloads and responsibilities. There has been a trend of turnover intention among teachers that results from the undervaluation and underappreciation of the profession. Schools have to manage teacher turnover since it impacts student outcomes, teacher well-being, and school performance. This systematic review aimed to summarize the findings of teacher turnover intention and its impacts on teacher well-being and explore well-being factors that influence teachers’ decisions to remain in the profession. The review was done following PRISMA guidelines with 11 articles published from 2013 to 2024. The studies consistently show that higher well-being is associated with lower desire to leave the profession. The implications of this study emphasize the need for systemic interventions to enhance teacher well-being and keep teachers in their roles, which will benefit the broader education sector.

Abstract

Vocational interest assessments play an important role in supporting high school students in identifying appropriate career paths, particularly for those planning to pursue tertiary education. Nevertheless, a comprehensive evaluation of the literature is essential to assess the relevance, gaps, and current state of vocational interest measurement. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze global publication trends and research related to vocational interest assessment. Using a bibliometric approach, 232 articles were retrieved from the Dimensions AI database, covering the period from 1924 to 2024. The Journal of Vocational Behavior emerged as the most prominent journal in this field, while James B. Round from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign was identified as the most influential author. Between 2014 and 2024, 62 relevant publications were recorded, including six from Indonesia. This study offered insights into publication growth, author affiliations, and key themes while identifying underdeveloped areas requiring further exploration in the measurement of vocational interest.

Abstract

Based on the Quest for Significance Theory (SQT), violent extremism is a consequence of the quest for significance activated by significance loss, significance gain, and threat of significance loss. This systematic literature review aims to synthesize previous research related to the quest for significance using SQT. The authors selected 103 articles, and 24 articles met the inclusion criteria. The review results indicate that loss of significance consistently tends to activate the quest for significance and predicts violent extremism stemming from various factors, including vulnerable environments, perceptions of injustice, social rejection, and failure to achieve goals. Conversely, significance gain shows inconsistency; studies suggest this factor strengthens, weakens, or predicts future involvement in violent extremism. There has been no empirical research specifically addressing the threat of significance loss. The measurement of significance loss and significance gain has not been clearly distinguished and uses various proxies, indicating that standardized measurement tools have not yet been established. Additionally, there is still overlap in the operationalization of measurement between significance loss and the quest for significance.

Abstract

Social media platforms are now inseparable from children as well as parents, making social media literacy a critical skill for maintaining family well-being in the digital age. This analysis explores whether social media literacy genuinely influences family well-being, as reflected in how each family member engages with social media. A systematic literature review was conducted using Antecedents, Decisions, Outcomes (ADO) and Theory, Context, Method (TCM) frameworks analyzing 66 studies. Findings identified five main antecedents: individual and psychological factors, social and family influences, access to media and technology, intervention and empowerment, and cultural and environmental context. These antecedents shape family decisions: responsible digital use, parental mediation, privacy, and the use of social media for education and advocacy, impacting the objective and subjective well-being of the family both positively and negatively. The review highlights theoretical, contextual and methodological gaps including geographical bias towards Western countries, the dominance of cross-sectional studies and limited focus on intergenerational digital literacy.

Abstract

Child marriage is a public health concern that significantly affects the physical, mental, and social well-being of adolescent girls. While prevention strategies often target structural factors, such as poverty and education, they tend to overlook the psychological influences underlying early marriage decisions. This study explored child marriage from a health psychology perspective, using the theory of planned behavior (TPB) as the primary analytical framework. A narrative literature review was conducted by analyzing 26 peer-reviewed articles published from 2016 to 2025. The findings revealed that permissive attitudes toward early marriage, strong social pressure, and low perceived behavioral control are key contributors to the persistence of the child marriage phenomenon. The consequences include adolescent pregnancy, childbirth complications, gender-based violence, and mental health issues, such as depression and anxiety. These insights underscore the importance of TPB-based interventions aimed at reshaping attitudes, challenging social norms, and empowering girls with behavioral control. This review offers a foundation for developing more effective and context-sensitive strategies to prevent child marriage through a health psychology approach.

Abstract

Online prosocial behavior is an important topic in digital psychology, yet bibliometric studies on this subject remain limited. This study aimed to analyze publication trends and map key themes in online prosocial behavior research. Descriptive bibliometric analysis and thematic mapping were conducted using Biblioshiny (Bibliometrix) in the R software package. Additionally, international collaboration networks were examined through VOSviewer using a country-based co-authorship method. A total of 40 bibliographic records were retrieved from the Scopus database using keywords related to online prosocial behavior from 2011 to 2025. The findings highlight research landscapes, including the most influential authors, leading affiliations and countries, emerging research trends, temporal development, and frequently cited articles. Thematic mapping reveals core themes, such as online prosocial behavior, human, motivation, well-being, behavioral, and social interaction. This study highlights global trends and research directions on online prosocial behavior, emphasizing the importance of context in examining this phenomenon, particularly within the Indonesian setting. Furthermore, from a practical perspective, the findings may serve as a reference for the development of digital literacy programs for adolescents.

Abstract

Previous studies on older widows have focused on the negative aspects of spousal loss, such as loneliness, anxiety, and depression, positioning them as vulnerable groups. This perspective tends to overlook the potential of older widows in achieving successful aging. This study aimed to map the concepts within the scope of positive psychology that have been applied in research on older widows, and to explore how these approaches can support healthy and successful aging. A literature search was conducted on Google Scholar, covering publications from 2016 to 2025. A total of 9,480 articles were identified and screened based on predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. After reviewing abstracts and full texts, eight articles were included in this scoping review. There is a consistent pattern: older widows can achieve successful aging through positive psychology and spirituality. However, several contradictions between concepts were found, particularly regarding the sources of emotional resilience, between external social support and internal spiritual strength. Views on the meaning of life also vary, rooted in past achievements and acceptance of painful experiences and present hopes. Adaptation is described through both active (autoplastic adaptation) and passive (surrender to fate) approaches. Optimism is often considered a universal strength, but it has not been widely studied in the context of the socioeconomic limitations faced by older widows. The integration of intrapersonal aspects, e.g., resilience, meaning in life, well-being, and optimism, along with social and spiritual dimensions, including social support and spirituality, contributes to helping older widows achieve successful aging.
