Abstract

This study examines the influence of Emotional Quotient (EQ) on students' learning motivation among 12th-grade students at SMA N 1 Lubuk Alung. Employing a quantitative correlational research design, the study involved 175 students selected through simple random sampling. Data were collected using the Emotional Intelligence Scale by Suryati (2024) and the Learning Motivation Scale by Iqbal (2023). The analysis revealed a significant positive relationship between emotional intelligence and learning motivation (p < 0.001, R = 0.610). Findings suggest that higher emotional intelligence is associated with greater learning motivation. The study emphasizes the importance of emotional intelligence in enhancing academic motivation, with practical recommendations for educators and policymakers to integrate emotional intelligence development into educational practices.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the phenomenon of the condition of academic procrastination from students which is classified as high seen from the symptoms that appear such as dislike for certain teachers causing neglect of learning tasks, wasting time chatting, watching television, watching in the cinema and so on, and having difficulty in preparing physical and psychological conditions so that when attending lessons are in a lackluster condition. The objectives of this study are (1) to describe the factors that cause students' academic procrastination at SMKN 2 Padang, (2) to describe the internal factors that cause students' academic procrastination at SMKN 2 Padang, and (3) to describe the external factors that cause students' academic procrastination at SMKN 2 Padang. This type of research is quantitative research with a descriptive approach. The population of this study amounted to 425 students of SMK N 2 Padang who were enrolled in the 2024/2025 school year, with a sample size of 206 students. Sample selection using proportional ramdom sampling technique. The data collection technique used an academic procrastination scale. Data were analyzed using descriptive techniques. The results of this study reveal that the factors that cause students' academic procrastination at SMK N 2 Padang are seen from: (1) physical condition factors are generally in the high category, (2) psychological condition factors are generally in the medium category, (3) family condition factors are generally in the high category, (4) school environment factors are generally in the high category, and (5) community environment factors are generally in the high category. Based on the findings of this study, it is expected that counseling teachers can provide services to avoid students' academic procrastination.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the fact that there are still many students who have low achievement motivation. This research aims to: (1) Describe the level of self-efficacy of students at SMAN 1 Banuhampu, (2) Describe the achievement motivation of students at SMAN 1 Banuhampu, (3) Test whether there is a significant relationship between self-efficacy and the achievement motivation of students at SMAN 1 Banuhampu . The research method used in this study is quantitative with a descriptive correlational approach. The sample of this study was 271 students selected using the stratified random sampling technique. The instruments used in this study were the self-efficacy instrument and the achievement motivation instrument. The data was processed using statistical techniques to determine the percentage value processed in the Microsoft Excel program, to find the relationship between the two variables the Pearson product moment technique was used. The results of the study showed that: (1) Self-efficacy in students at SMAN 1 Banuhampu as a whole was in the moderate category (53.16%). This means that most students at SMAN 1 Banuhampu are not yet confident in their abilities. (2) Achievement motivation in students of SMAN 1 Banuhampu as a whole is in the moderate category (61.88%) this means that most students already have motivation to achieve achievements. (3) There is a significant positive relationship between self-efficacy and achievement motivation in students of SMAN 1 Banuhampu with a correlation coefficient of 0.432 and a significance level of 0.000, where the higher the student's self-efficacy, the higher the achievement motivation in students, and vice versa, the lower the student's self-efficacy, the lower the achievement motivation in students.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the implementation of individual counseling services with the Mauidzah Hasanah approach in overcoming truancy behavior of class X students at MAS Al-Wasliyah 22. Truancy behavior is a form of deviation that affects the learning process and academic achievement of students. The Mauidzah Hasanah approach, which is based on gentle and wise verbal communication, was chosen to provide advice and guide students more effectively and touch on their moral aspects. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The subjects of the study included a guidance and counseling teacher who implemented individual counseling services and seven class X students who had a history of truancy behavior. The results showed that the implementation of individual counseling based on Mauidzah Hasanah had a positive impact on changes in student behavior. The guidance and counseling teacher began by building a warm and open relationship, so that students felt comfortable expressing their problems. Advice and motivation given in a gentle and empathetic manner were able to encourage students to reflect on their life goals, understand the importance of discipline, and improve their attitudes towards learning. As a result, students showed increased awareness, motivation, and self-confidence. This study recommends the implementation of counseling services based on Mauidzah Hasanah values ​​as one of the solutions to overcome student deviant behavior in the school environment.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the relationship between self-efficacy and academic stress in students at SMP N 10 Padang. This research is motivated by the behavior of students who show symptoms of academic stress such as not focusing on studying, often feeling anxious when facing unfinished learning problems and the pressure they feel while studying. This research aims to reveal the phenomenon of self-efficacy and academic stress and describe the picture that occurs and determine the relationship between self-efficacy and academic stress. This research uses quantitative methods through a correlational descriptive approach. The sample for this research was 256 students using Stratified Random Sampling techniques. Obtaining data in this research uses the Pearson Product Moment correlation formula. The results of the research show that (1) the self-efficacy of students at SMP N 10 Padang is in the medium category with an average score of 84.33 (67.3%), (2) the students' academic stress is in the medium category with an average score of 79 .64 (60.54%) and (3) there is a significant negative relationship between self-efficacy and academic stress in students at SMP N 10 Padang with a correlation of -0.608. This means that the higher the self-efficacy, the lower the student's academic stress, and vice versa. Based on the research results, teachers are asked to play an active role in efforts to increase students' self-efficacy and reduce students' academic stress by providing service assistance and counseling to students. The services provided include information services, individual counseling services, group guidance services and group counseling services.

Abstract

The existence of students with poor self-esteem those who doubt their own skills, are timid when speaking in front of the class, experience fear and anxiety when confronted with challenges, and minimize their abilities was the driving force for this study. (1) To describe the self-esteem of SMP Muhammadiyah 6 Padang students; (2) to describe the peer pressure that students at SMP Muhammadiyah 6 Padang experience; and (3) to determine whether there is a relationship between peer pressure and students' self-esteem. Descriptive and correlational models are used in this kind of quantitative study. Using the stratified random selection approach, 111 students were selected from the 153 students enrolled at SMP Muhammadiyah 6 Padang during the 2024–2025 academic year, which served as the study's population. A self-esteem measure and a peer pressure scale were utilized to collect data for this study. With the aid of SPSS version 20, the data was processed using descriptive analytic methods and Pearson product moment correlation analysis. According to the study's findings, (1) students' self-esteem falls into the low category (42.34%), (2) students' experiences of peer pressure fall into the high category (45.05%), and (3) correlation analysis reveals a significant and negative relationship between peer pressure (X) and students' self-esteem (Y), with a significance level of 0.000 ˂ 0.05 at a weak relationship level, or -0.329. The findings of this negative and significant connection suggest that students' self-esteem tends to decrease with increasing peer pressure and increase with decreasing peer pressure. According to the study's findings, BK instructors and counselors may offer subject mastery services that include resources on enhancing social skills as well as individual and group therapy.

Abstract

Blended learning using Google Classroom is a combination of face-to-face and online learning that utilizes the Google Classroom platform to facilitate interactions between students and teachers outside the classroom. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of implementing blended learning using Google Classroom. The study employs a quantitative method with a descriptive research design. It involves 27 students from the Grade XI Industrial Mechanical Engineering program at SMK Negeri 1 Sumatera Barat. Data collection was conducted through questionnaires and documentation The questionnaire in this study assessed five aspects: the use of Google Classroom, interaction in learning, technological accessibility, comfort and satisfaction, and the effectiveness of blended learning. The analysis results for each assessed aspect were as follows: the use of Google Classroom at 76.66%, interaction in learning at 71.29%, technological accessibility at 75.37%, comfort and satisfaction at 70.74%, and the effectiveness of blended learning at 68.51%. This indicates that students’ overall response to the effectiveness of blended learning using Google Classroom was 73.19%, categorized as effective.

Abstract

This research discusses the role of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in shaping students' Islamic character through the BAMALAM Program at Sekolahalam Minangkabau in Padang City. In a digital era full of moral and social challenges, character education is an urgent need for students. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method to understand the role of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in internalizing Islamic values through nature-based camping activities. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation by involving teachers, principals, and students as participants. The results showed that Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers have a strategic role in shaping religious, independent, tolerance, cooperation, discipline, responsibility, and environmental care characters in students. This character building is realized through activities such as congregational prayer, tadarus Al-Qur'an, spiritual reflection, independent cooking, nature exploration, and the practice of caring for the environment. Although there are challenges such as the diversity of student characters and time constraints, Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers are able to overcome them with an inspirational and exemplary-based approach. In conclusion, the BAMALAM Program is an effective tool in building students' Islamic character, where the role of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers as spiritual companions, motivators, and facilitators greatly contributes to the success of this program in forming a noble and responsible generation.

Abstract

Socialization is one of the human social developments. Social development refers to an individual's ability to behave or act in interactions with social elements in society that meet social demands. The elements of socialization in society include family, friends, school, and mass media. In the school environment, students learn to build relationships with their peers from various family social statuses. To face the problems in the school environment, students must be brave in expressing their feelings and opinions, which is often referred to as assertiveness. This study aims to determine the influence of self-concept on assertiveness in students at SMA Negeri 15 Padang. This research uses a quantitative method. The population in this study consists of 700 students from classes XI and XII at SMA Negeri 15 Padang. Sampling was conducted using purposive sampling with 140 respondents. The study used self-concept and assertiveness scales as measuring instruments. Data analysis was performed using simple regression analysis with IBM SPSS 27. The results of the hypothesis testing showed a significance value (Sig.) of 0.001 < 0.05 with a coefficient of 0.425 and an R Square value of 0.181, indicating that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected. This means that there is a positive influence of self-concept on assertiveness among students at SMA Negeri 15 Padang, with an effect size of 18.1%, while the remaining influence is shaped by other factors such as gender, parenting style, culture, and social economic status. In conclusion, the higher the self-concept, the higher the assertiveness.
