Abstract

Latar belakang: Penggunaan obat kumur mulai dianjurkan selama pandemi Covid-19. Obat kumur yang disarankan oleh American Dental Association (ADA) dan the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) selama pandemi Covid-19, yaitu Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), Chlorhexidine gluconate (CHX), Cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC), dan Povidone-iodine (PVP-I).

Abstract

Background : Dental implant is one of the options to restore extracted tooth with fixed partial denture. This method of restoration is popular because of the ability of dental implant to replace the teeth without disturbing neighboring hard and soft tissues with very high long term survival rate. Dental implant procedure should be planned and executed with proper procedure to get an esthetic and functional restoration. This case report will discuss the treatment planning and procedure of placing of single unit implant placement on posterior tooth Case report : A 26-year-old woman came with complain of extracted lower right tooth 2 years ago and she wanted a fixed prosthesis to replace this tooth. Straumann BLT dental implant of diameter 4.1x Height 10mm is placed on this patient after treatment planning with radiograph image and study model analysis. Screw-cemented retained prosthesis was delivered on the implant to restore the function and esthetic of the missing 47 tooth. Conclusion : Planning and proper procedure during implant placement and restoration will lead to a good long-term esthetic and functional outcome.

Abstract

Background: Tooth loss can be replaced with dentures, implant dentures are one of the treatment options that can be chosen because they have a comfort, function, and aesthetics. This case report will explain the procedures for the loss of 1 unit mandibular tooth subcrestally. First year after implant placement, there will be a decrease bone in the implant area 1-1,5 mm and followed by normal decrease of 0.1-0.2 mm each year. Case Report: The patient complained of missing lower left tooth and wanted to have permanent prosthesis. The patient had no systemic disorders and allergies. The patient planned to do  implant treatment on tooth 37. There are 2 stages of surgery. Stage one involved the implant placement. Second stage the healing abutment installed. The prosthetic stage monolithic zirconia screw and cement retained prosthesis was used. Conclusion: Dental implant treatment with subcrestal placement is considered to have good results in the long term. In the first year after treatment, the alveolar bone will experience a decrease of 1-1.5 mm in the implant area. In this case, implant placement 1 mm below the bone level will reduce the risk of implant exposure in the long term

Abstract

Background: Caries is a problem that is most often found in children and adults. Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) have various obstacles both in their skills and in their cognition, which makes maintaining their oral hygiene very difficult. Objective: To determine the factors associated with dental caries in patients with ASD aged 6-12 years. Method: Scoping review using journals published in the last 10 years which can be accessed through Google Scholar and Pubmed databases using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) method. Results: Both databases obtained 421 journals. Duplication filtering found 17 journals with the same title. Filtering titles that do not match the research topic leaves 365 journals. Journal screening through abstracts resulted in 40 journals. All journals were then screened for eligibility leaving 16 journals that met the criteria. Conclusion: Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) provides many factors that can cause caries in children aged 6-12 years. Conditions experienced by children with ASD, such as limited motor movements, cognitive problems, eating patterns, oral cavity conditions, and limited access to health services, cause caries in children with ASD.

Abstract

Background: Periodontal disease is a global health problem that affects up to 90% of the population and can worsen during pregnancy due to hormonal changes. This condition increases the risk of Adverse Pregnancy Outcomes (APOs), such as preeclampsia, premature labor, and low birth weight. Proper periodontal care during pregnancy is essential to prevent these complications. Objectives: Identifying effective and safe periodontal treatments for pregnant women to reduce the risk of periodontal disease and related pregnancy complications. Methods: The research was conducted by reviewing literature regarding the relationship between periodontal disease and pregnancy, pathophysiological mechanisms, as well as treatment approaches. Results: Non-surgical periodontal therapy has been proven to reduce gingival inflammation and improve the periodontal health of pregnant women. Treatment in the second trimester has been found to be safest for elective procedures, while certain medications, such as amoxicillin and chlorhexidine, can be used safely. Conclusion: Periodontal treatment during pregnancy is effective in improving periodontal health and reducing the risk of APOs. This therapy is highly recommended for use during pregnancy to support better pregnancy outcomes.

Abstract

Bone grafts are biomaterials that act as a scaffold for bone regeneration. It is used to fill voids and provide support. Due to its high demand, researchers have been investigating bone grafts as well as potential alternatives in order to enhance bone regeneration. A material must first be properly analysed for its characteristics as it could affect the results. One of the most commonly used characterization tools is X-Ray Diffraction, which is used to analyse the crystallinity of a material. Crystallinity is an important characteristic to analyse as it could affect degradation and bone regeneration. This article aims to provide information about bone grafts as well as the characterization of materials using X-ray Diffraction (XRD).

Abstract

Background: Ignoring dental and oral hygiene can cause a variety of illnesses such as tooth decay and periodontitis. One of the symptoms caused by tooth decay is a change in tooth color. Periodontitis is characterized by bleeding, discoloration, viscosity, and edema of the gums. Periodontitis is characterized by the presence of periodontal pockets, recession, or both. Bad breath can be part of periodontitis. Object : This study was conducted to obtain descriptive data on individual attitudes and behaviours for maintaining dental and oral health in preclinical students in their final year. Method: The target of this activity is the final stage preclinical student of DKI Jakarta School of Dentistry. The revised Indonesian Hiroshima University-Dental Behavioural Inventory (HU-DBI) questionnaire was distributed to 103 respondents. Data processing uses the sum of the question values and percentages. Results: The data collected show that female respondents are not always good at keeping their teeth clean. Toothpaste is common, but dental floss and mouthwash are not used on a daily basis. The incidence of periodontitis does not occur in most senior students. Conclusion: Female respondents are more willing to maintain dental and oral health than male respondents. Male respondents have better dental and oral hygiene practices than female respondents. The actions of male respondents do not perform correctly for all questions. The use of dental floss and mouthwash achieved good results among female respondents.
