Abstract

CV. Delia Bakery is a home-based bakery factory located in Jatinegara, East Jakarta. It produces bread every period and currently has 30 salesmen. The amount of bread produced every period depends on the requests of each salesperson, who only asks what their target wants without any clear basis. This results in inefficient daily production levels and suboptimal profits for the company, highlighting the necessity for a well-thought-out production plan. Hence, bread production demand is predicted using the Double Moving Average forecast for 3 and 6 periods and Double Exponential Smoothing by Brown with α = 0.1. Production planning involves heuristic aggregate planning with two strategies, workforce control, and overtime control, aiming for cost-effective results. Based on the results of forecasting calculations that have been carried out using data from May and June 2023, a total of 53 periods were analyzed, revealing that the Double Exponential Smoothing by Brown method with α=0.1 achieved the lowest MAPE of 9.91%. The forecasted values for the 54th period are 9510 pcs, 55th period 9502 pcs, 56th period 9494 pcs, 57th period 9486, 58th period 9478, and 59th period 9470. The heuristic aggregate method showed that workforce control is the most cost-efficient production control strategy, costing Rp 4,800,000 over six forecasting periods.

Abstract

One of the most common products grown by many in North Sumatra, especially Karo Regency, is coffee. This plant can bring in foreign exchange, making it a valuable plantation item in the Karo Regency's local economy. Despite the industry's high production and farmers' favorable experiences, soil erosion and water scarcity on agricultural land pose sustainability challenges. This occurs due to farmers needing more technical expertise or real-world post-harvest processing experience. Simultaneously, the Circular Economy (CE) notion is becoming more popular due to its capacity to improve sustainable development. By further utilizing waste to create an alternative product, this research aims to apply CE to the Karo coffee supply chain to increase sustainable elements, specifically social and economic, and lessen its environmental impact. Aside from that, utilizing the Soft System Methodology approach, adjustments must be made to policies or management practices in order to facilitate the deployment of CE. When implementing CE ideas in the agriculture supply chain, Soft System Methodology can help identify issues from the viewpoints of different supply chain actors. The investigation's findings indicate that there is a chance to apply CE to the Karo coffee supply chain. The rise in economic value resulting from utilizing and reprocessing the generated garbage into substitute items is evidence of this, with total sales increasing from Rp 1.130.400.000 to Rp 1.229.350.000 after CE implementation.

Abstract

Fritter is the traditional food of the people in Indonesia and is very popular and well-liked because of their crunchy, delicious taste, not to mention the affordable price. Fritters are generally sold by street hawkers, a type of business categorized as micro-enterprises. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, fritter sellers have experienced a drastic drop in sales, because buyers doubt the hygiene of the fritter offered, especially the packaging used. Micro, small, and medium enterprises are the target of the Indonesian government to be supported and empowered. To maintain the sustainability of their business, the efforts that can be made are to design packaging that ensures food hygiene and accommodates customer needs. The design of packaging for the fritter is done based on interviews and the Quality Function Deployment method to accommodate customer needs. The new packaging is designed using thin cardboard covered with kitchen tissue. This packaging improves the function of ordinary packaging, which is more hygienic, absorbs oil and moisture, can be closed tightly, is more durable, and can store leftovers that are not eaten immediately. The packaging is also more eco-friendly because it eliminates the use of plastic bags. Not much research has been done on fritter packaging, so this research is expected to contribute to providing better fritter packaging.

Abstract

Traditional business models consider physical assets such as shops, factories, and offices important in generating the company's revenue. This situation also occurs when a company tries to expand its market. For market expansion, using the traditional business model, the company tends to consider opening several sales office branches to support sales. It has consequences for generating additional costs for the company. With the advanced development of information technology, such as the Internet, customers can be reached through e-market platforms. Therefore, the research presented in this paper proposes a platform business model that can support market expansion without adding additional physical assets to the company. This research hypothesizes that developing websites using local language can help the company gain visitors from the area where it is trying to expand its market. Therefore, in the proposed platform business model supported by a website, it is recommended that the website be developed using the local language to expand the market without adding physical assets such as a sales office. The proposed platform business model is then implemented at PT. D&W International, which has been exporting products overseas since 2005. Using the proposed platform business model, the company develops the websites in three different languages: English, Portuguese, and Spanish. The result shows that the platform business model of using a website supported by local language effectively supports the company's business expansion.

Abstract

Kenaf plants are able to absorb 21 to 89 tons of CO2 per hectare per year, depending on the agronomic management and environment. Kenaf plant-based fiber agro-industry in Indonesia serves as an upstream industry that has a potential to increase the export value contribution of kenaf dried fiber, while allowing domestic demand for kenaf dried fiber to be met through Indonesian production. This will have an impact on the reduced value of kenaf dried fiber import. The purpose of this study was to develop a digital platform prototype of a sustainable decision support system for kenaf fiber agro-industry supply chains. Development of this digital platform relied on an Android OS with Java language based decision support system framework, which was previously established using a system development life cycle (SDLC), Waterfall model. This research has succeeded in developing a digital platform decision support system for a sustainable kenaf fiber agro-industry supply chain using a waterfall model SDLC approach. This digital platform helps users to make decisions regarding alternative opportunities for cleaner production and increasing green productivity through measuring green productivity indexes with GVSM as the input. This research can be further developed for implementation of intelligent system-based DSS. Therefore, in future research, DSS can be developed with a model-based management system using an intelligent systems approach.
