Abstract

Indonesia is the largest Muslim population in the world. By establishing Halal-based agro-industry, Indonesia is expected to avoid the status of the largest world’s largest Halal market. Indonesia need to gradually develop its capability as internationally recognized competitive Halal products producer. Malaysia, Thailand and Brunei Darussalam as ASEAN members have been globally recognized as the world’s Halal products hub and building their Halal industry as their main platform of agro-industry development to penetrate international market. High level of competition abounds from both Muslim and non-Muslim nations, including ASEAN members which have been aggressively setting up their industrial estates and marketing their Halal products around the global market. This study observed Halal-based Agro-industry Competitiveness among six ASEAN countries. Quantitative SWOT analysis and Multi Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) analysis were used to find out the details of intrinsic and extrinsic factors in each country. The result showed that Malaysia and Thailand placed as the most advance country among ASEAN countries, while Indonesia placed as number five due to its weakness in some most important intrinsic and extrinsic factors

Abstract

Nowadays, carton boxes are very popularly used, mostly in food industries, pharmacy and other consumer products. Most carton box industries work base on customer order (Make-to-order company), because most of carton box order are prepared for particular customer. Carton box are not only used for containing and protecting the product, but also functioned to inform the product to the customers. Make-to-order company has a high level of uncertainty such as the type and design of the product, the step of production, production time, cost, equipments and machine. This could create further problems; the overdue of order and completing process, and the acceptability of the product. This research is intended to design an order processing model for the carton box industry to accelerate order receipt process and evaluate the feasibility of the order. This paper focused on two models, those are the order entry model and order evaluation model. In order entry model, product code is given, and calculation model for needed raw material is made by using mathematical formulation. In order evaluation model, expert system and decision tree are used for analyzing the process capability and selecting machinery as well as designing the steps of production.

Abstract

Agro-industrial work system, especially the sugar industry is a very complex work systems. In the approach to ergonomics, system components can be divided into human (workers), equipment and materials, physical environment and organizational environment. Each component interacts with the pattern of interrelation in the principle of autopoeisis (self-organizing system). Ergonomics analysis of the each component are needed in order to design or redesign the system, to ensure that work system can be sustainabe. This paper discusses some of the ergonomic aspects of work systems, among others, physical workload of manual harvesting, manual transporting of sugarcane and physical environmental conditions in the factory include vibration, temperature, noise, and lighting, as well as employee perceptions of work facing the system. Based on the comparison value IRHR (increase ratio of heart rate) for each job, the workload of manual harvesting categorized in moderate and severe categories (IRHR between 1.27 to 1.66) and manual transporting categorized in heavy and very heavy (IRHR between 1.43 to 1, 93). The physical condition of the factory there are some of the data beyond the allowed limit, for example, the highest temperature reached 37 0C, very low illumination of 7.5 lux, and the noise reached 93.2 dB. While the boiler operator workload is very heavy category (IRHR 1.67). From some of these results, it can be concluded that conditions are less ergonomic work systems, and requires some improvement in microergonomics aspects.

Abstract

Production Planning and Inventory Control (PPIC) activities in the food industry requires a reliable decision model to support the effectiveness and efficiency of PPIC function. Master Production Scheduling / MPS is one of the PPIC decision model that aims to get the number of items that must be produced by the company to meet consumer demand based on its production capacity. This research had been done in the food industry with a case study on PT NIC bread industry, using Fuzzy Multi Objective Linear Programming Model as a decision model to determine the amount of production.This model is an optimization model that was developed by utilizing the modified S-curve membership function for Fuzzy Linear Programming problems with the aim of minimizing costs and maximizing production utilization. This model is reliable enough to improve the functioning of PPIC in the food industry.

Abstract

This study is aimed to design a generic decision support system on early warning system for cassava agroindustry. The intelligent system was established as controlling tools through formulating policies for managing crisis as impact of chaotic occurences. This integrated system was formulated using computer program consist of 5 models which are: variable identify source of turbulence designed with Fuzzy Pairwise Comparation, chaotic investigation model designed with chaos theory approach, Price and material supply forecasting model designed with Artificial Neural Network. Crisis warning model was set up with threshold analysis, and supplemented with control management procedure. When Price or material supply was evaluated at crisis level, then option of recovery will be presented. The inteligent System was implemented in user friendly decisión support system named CHAOTICA ( Chaos Theory for Cassava Agroindustry).

Abstract

School of Pusaka Bangsa was founded by Yayasan Pusaka Bangsa and started operating from academic year 1999/2000. This school still uses an assessment system that focuses on the academic aspect of the students. The decision-supporting system suggested is a system that allows the holistic evaluation of the studesnts achievement that includes academic achievement, behaviour, extra curricular activities and attendance. The designing of the system consists of planning steps, research, analysis, design, construction and implementation. The decision-supporting system in the School of Pusaka Bangsa Karawang has a few functions. The first one is as a data keep, where we can use it to add, change and delete the data of students and teachers. The second function is the assessments of the students that is used to give a final score of the students achievements according to the attributes in the assessments that varied for each academic levels.. The third function of the system is students analysis diagram which gives the diagram of the students score. The applications of the decision-supporting system gives a better result. This improvement can be observed from the ratio of the work evaluation before development and those after are 2.58 and 4.18 respectively. The indicator of the evaluations are completeness, ease, timing, accessibility and information representations.

Abstract

One of important aspect in codification strategy in relation to knowledge management implementation is selective in choosing knowledge area to be codified. This paper showed a model for selecting key knowledge area using knowledge gap analysis and importance-performance matrix with fuzzy logic approach from latex dipped production process. Model was packaged in decision support system which designed using visual basic for applications and Matlab programming. Fuzzy average technique and Sugeno fuzzy inference system were used in this model. Four key knowledge areas detected based on two methods. They were compound formulation, product inspection and failure analysis, dispersion inspection and leaching.

Abstract

This paper was done to learn about the urgency of sustainability in agroindustry palm oil development to reduce global warming. Nowadays global warming should reduce its bad influence to all of us. As part of role in creation of global warming, palm oil industry have to conduct sustainable development. Various tool can be implemented for reach it such as AMDAL, Ecolabelling, ISO 14000, cleaner production and Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO). Abstract

PT Extrupack is one company that is engaged in the packaging industry aluminum tube that is often used as a packaging material for products - pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, toothpaste and others. In an effort to improve the quality of products it produces, PT Extrupack trying to improve existing production processes at this time that the number of defects that arise during the production process can be further minimized in number.First of all observations made on the production of 13.5 x 70/CE Collapsible Tube and search for the critical quality characteristics of this production process from product inspection standards in terms of variables there are several variables that have a low process capability that is high nozzle (Cp = 0.76) and flabbiness tube (Cp = 0.65), then this is the quality characteristics selected for further analysis. Of cause and effect diagram is known that the deviation is mainly due to long-run penyettingan engine is still done based on experience and trial and error. Therefore, design of experiments performed using the response surface method can be proposed for the optimum engine settings on the machine exturder affecting the response variable nozzle height and optimum setting for the machine anneling affecting the response variable softness tube.From the full factorial experiment and the results of data processing and analysis has been done, it is known that factors which significantly influence the response variable nozzle height is a factor B (Extrusion Pressure) and factor C (Levels of Zinc Stearate). With the response surface method to obtain the optimum setting Extruder machine that can be proposed is a factor A (Extrussion Speed) with the level 90mm/detik, factor B (Extrussion Pressure) with the level of 50 tons, and the factor C (Levels of Zinc Stearate) with the level 22.3%. As for the variable response of tube softness in mind that a significant factor is the factor A (temperature) and factor B (Old heating). Next by using the method of steepest Ascent and Central Composite Design to the proposed setting is optimum for engines Anneling Factor A (temperature) with the level of 523oC, Factor B (Old heating) with a value of 137 seconds and the level of factor C (Humidity) with values as low as 20% .From the results of the implementation of the proposed new setting can be seen that the characteristics of the process capability for high quality and softness nozzle tube after implementation is much better than before.

Abstract

Manufacturing company engaged in textile manufacturing in the Job Order system with an extensive network and market orientation requires more attention to the quality of products and services that meet customer requirements, one of them by way of the fulfillment of an order at the time agreed in advance. The problems are often found in the companies are delays in the completion of orders. This is due to less optimal job scheduling order by weight or penalty different on each job which will ultimately lead to the total weighted delay of the delay comes from the accumulation of a different job with the weights. This paper is intended to help companies create a new and more optimal scheduling in order to minimize the total weighted delay in the completion of order.The model used in this paper is an integer linear programming model for resource-scheduling problem for multiple simultaneous parallel job-compound and compound-operation. The initial steps of the use of this model is the formulation of the decision variables, and the objective function is minimizing total weighted tardiness or delay subject to the limiting functions. Software used in the processing of this data is WinQSB. At the end of the text is given a numerical example using the proposed model.
