Abstract

As an archipelago, Indonesia has a vast ocean and is rich in biodiversity. With a vast ocean, Indonesia has considerable marine ecotourism potential. However, the problem that needs to be solved is destructive fishing in Indonesian waters. Destructive fishing can damage the marine ecosystem and reduce the number of marine life that characterizes Indonesian waters. Kapoposang Island is one of Indonesia's areas with great marine ecotourism potential. However, on Kapoposang Island, there are cases of destructive fishing which are feared to hurt the development of marine ecotourism. Besides that, community participation is needed so that an increase can follow the growth of marine ecotourism on Kapoposang Island in the standard of living of the local community, one of which is the economy. This study examined the relationship between destructive fishing and tourism development on Kapoposang Island. The research was conducted using a qualitative approach to analyze the impact of destructive fishing on the development of marine ecotourism on Kapoposang Island, Pangkajene Islands Regency, South Sulawesi. Researchers used data sources in the form of interviews and literature studies.

Abstract

The International Tourist Levy (ITL) policy, implemented by the Bali government in 2023, aims to fund environmental conservation and the development of tourism infrastructure to ensure the sustainability of Bali's tourism industry. This study aims to explore the perceptions of international tourists regarding this policy and its impact on their decision to visit Bali. The research employs a qualitative approach, using in-depth interviews with five international tourists who visited Bali after the introduction of the ITL policy. The findings reveal that the majority of respondents support the policy, although there are concerns about the additional cost, particularly among tourists with limited budgets. Transparency in the management of the funds and clear allocation for environmental preservation were key points of concern. Support for the policy was especially strong among tourists who are aware of the importance of sustainability, although several respondents expressed the need for more detailed information on how the funds are used. The study suggests that the Bali government should enhance communication about the policy and ensure transparent fund usage to maintain tourist trust and support.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the discovery of unfavorable assessments regarding employee performance, as well as self-evaluation methods that have not been maximized, which in turn affect performance outcomes. Additionally, many employees have worked for more than five years but show the potential for declining performance, and the majority of employees have an educational background equivalent to senior high school. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of work experience and career development on employee performance at Savero Hotel Depok. This study employs a descriptive quantitative method with a causal associative approach. The total sampling technique was used, involving all 46 employees as the population. Data were collected through questionnaires designed using a five-point Likert scale. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS version 23.00. The results of the hypothesis testing show that work experience has a positive but not significant effect on employee performance, with a significance value of 0.059 (> 0.05). In contrast, career development has a significant positive effect on employee performance, with a significance value of 0.000 (< 0.05). Simultaneously, work experience and career development have a significant effect on employee performance, indicated by an F value of 40.496 and a significance value of 0.000 (< 0.05). The coefficient of determination (Adjusted R Square) is 0.637 or 63.7%, indicating that work experience and career development collectively explain 63.7% of the variance in employee performance, while the remaining 36.3% is influenced by other factors not examined in this study.

Abstract

This study explores strategies for preserving the sanctity of Pura Taman Pecampuhan Sala Bangli amidst the growing development of spiritual tourism. Pura Taman Pecampuhan Sala is a temple in Bali that holds significant historical and spiritual value. The development of tourism, especially spiritual tourism, presents unique challenges in maintaining the temple’s sacredness and authenticity. This research adopts a qualitative approach using case study methods, in-depth interviews, and participatory observation to collect data. The findings reveal several key strategies in preserving the temple’s sanctity. First, strengthening the role of customary laws and local traditions in every religious activity at the temple. Second, implementing strict regulations regarding tourist access and behavior, including restricting certain sacred areas. Third, educating and raising awareness among tourists about the importance of maintaining the temple’s sanctity and understanding its spiritual values. Fourth, establishing collaboration between the government, temple administrators, and local communities to manage and promote spiritual tourism without compromising the temple’s sacredness. Fifth, conducting regular monitoring and evaluation of tourism’s impact on the temple’s sanctity. The study concludes that these strategies are effective in preserving the sanctity of Pura Taman Pecampuhan Sala amidst the pressures of spiritual tourism. However, ongoing efforts and strong commitment from all stakeholders are essential to ensure that the temple’s sacred and spiritual values are sustained and passed on to future generations.

Abstract

The culinary industry is growing rapidly with the trend of product innovation, including the use of food waste. This study processed non-gluten taro flour as a healthier homemade pasta ingredient than instant pasta. The challenge of using taro flour is low binding, so it is necessary to modify or mix high gluten flour to improve the quality and ease of processing. This research focuses on the use of taro flour and soybean flour as ingredients for making pasta. Through sensory evaluation, the characteristics of taste, color, aroma, and texture were studied. The goal is to collect relevant and reliable data to determine the effect of adding taro flour on the quality of paste, so as to provide answers and solutions to research problems. The results showed that sample C scored the lowest on all indicators, while the highest scores varied: color, aroma, texture in sample A taste and overall in sample B. Experimental constraints included manual pasta cutting that was not neat and the dough was difficult to mix, taking a long time to achieve the texture of the khalis. Fettucini paste from taro flour and soybean flour is made through weighing, mixing with eggs, water, salt, kneading until smooth, grinding, cutting, and boiling. This product has a chewy texture, is pale yellowish, and is healthier because it is low in gluten. It tastes naturally savory with a typical soybean aroma, as well as a chewy texture but can be crumbly if the taro flour is excessive.
