Abstract

Sleep is a necessity for every human being in everyday life. However, several times are not recommended, including sleeping after dawn. In the hadith, it is also mentioned that the Prophet forbade his people to sleep after dawn. However, not all hadiths are authentic and can be used as evidence. Therefore, it is necessary to re-examine the validity and meaning of the hadith. To examine the meaning of the hadith, the author uses the study of tahlili. This study aims to describe the prohibition of sleeping after dawn from the hadith perspective with a scientific approach. The method used in this research is the descriptive qualitative method. The results of this study prove that sleeping after dawn is not suitable for health, and the views of the scholars regarding sleeping after dawn are highly discouraging and make it a habit.

Abstract

This research examines creative work in Hadith studies in Ceuta due to its significance. Scholars in this region have been distinguished by their scholarly contributions, influencing others from different and being influenced by them as well. They introduced new areas in Hadith studies regarding book composition and refinement, similar to Al-Qadi 'Iyad in his book "Masyariq al-Anwar ala Sehah al-Athar," which had a clear impact on subsequent writings by scholars. This includes their discussions on "Tarajim al-Bukhari," as exemplified by Ibn Rushaid al-Sabti, whose influence extended to those who followed him and transmitted from him. They also played a prominent role in knowledge transmission in general, especially in Hadith, by categorizing books as indices, programs, proofs, dictionaries, and chains of narrators. These books among scholars contain the chains of transmission through which they reached the books of scholars, such as "Al-Ghunyah" by Al-Qadi 'Iyad, Ibn Khair al-Ishbili's Fihris, Al-Tujibi's Barnamaj, and others. They also took the lead in explaining Sahih Muslim and in preserving its narration in mosques and schools. All of this highlights that the Maghrebi and Andalusian scholarly figures went beyond mere knowledge transmission; they made valuable additions that contributed to the development of Islamic knowledge. Thus, the research objectives are to explore the contributions of Ceuta scholars in Hadith studies, evaluate their impact on others, and identify their distinctive aspects. In this study, we employed historical methodology, textual analysis, and comparative study techniques.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the role of ‘aql in the criticism of the matn of hadith by Islamic scholars. In religious studies, hadith is one of the primary sources for understanding Islam and the practice of Muslim life. However, with the progression of time, a need has emerged to reassess this method from a contemporary scientific perspective. This is evident in the application of scholars in assessing hadith using the indicator of ‘aql, which varies among them. More specifically, the background of this research is based on several facts. First, hadith scholars have paid more attention to the development of sanad criticism than the matn. This points to the statements of contemporary scholars that the discussion and research on hadith have focused more on analyzing and developing the theory of sanad. Second, scholars who recognize ‘aql as a criterion for matn criticism exhibit varying applications of this concept, with these differences already evident since the time of the Prophet's companions. The research methodology will involve literature studies, hadith text analysis, and exploration of the thoughts of Islamic scholars and intellectuals regarding the use of ‘aql in matn criticism.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the verses related to the discourse on the prevention of sexual violence in Tafsir Fi Zhilal Al-Qur'an by Sayyid Qutb. The phenomenon of sexual violence has been prevalent since the pre-Islamic Arab era, prior to the revelation of the Qur'an. It continues in Indonesia in both domestic and public spheres. This issue stems from the disparity in the relationship between men and women and the decline in ethical and moral values within society. This research focuses on two main questions, how Sayyid Qutb interprets the verses related to the prevention of sexual violence, and how the prevention of sexual violence can be applied in the educational context. This is a qualitative study that gathers bibliographic data, which is then analyzed descriptively. The study concludes that according to Sayyid Qutb in Tafsir Fi Zhilal Al-Qur'an, the prevention of sexual violence as outlined in the Qur'an can be implemented through several stages. First, Q.S. An-Nur/24: 58-59 emphasizes education and supervision of children to prevent them from viewing others' private parts, thereby promoting mental and emotional health. Second, Q.S. An-Nur/24: 30-31 and Q.S. Al-Ahzab/33: 59 stress the importance of guarding one's gaze, chastity, and modesty in clothing. This stage is essential for self-protection against sexual violence driven by lustful desires. Third, Q.S. Al-Isra’/17: 32 prohibits approaching acts of adultery. Fourth, Q.S. An-Nur/24: 33 forbids the trade of women for prostitution or exploitation. In conclusion, the verses of the Qur'an discussed can be implemented in education through the following means: First, education on values and ethics, teaching the importance of privacy, proper etiquette in dressing, and maintaining personal dignity in social interactions. Second, supervision and protection, where parents and society are responsible for providing oversight to ensure that children grow up in a nurturing environment, free from prohibited behaviors. Third, the protection of women, by preserving their dignity and rights through education on gender equality and combating sexual exploitation practices.

Abstract

Lately, the mining issue in Indonesia has become controversial due to the regulation of the President of Indonesia Number 76 of 2004. The studies focusing on the issue of mining and its connection with the Qur`an have not existed at all. So far, articles on mining issues have been merely descriptive, not applicative. Hence, this article aims to contextualize the Qur`an with mining operations in Indonesia. This article is qualitative research and utilizes al-tafsīr al-maqāṣidī as the approach. By examining the maqāṣid of the Qur`anic verse, this article reveals that managing the earth to obtain its benefits is allowed as it is a natural thing given by God while maintaining the sustainability of the environment as well as complying with sharia. In addition, government’s regulations have been compatible with the maqāṣid as well.

Abstract

This research aims to delve into the perspectives of Haji Abdul Malik Karim Amrullah (Hamka) concerning the role of women in Islamic leadership. Through a qualitative analysis of the Tafsir al-Azhar, this study reveals that Hamka emphasised the significance of justice, integrity, and consultation as the foundations of leadership, regardless of gender. By analysing various verses, interpretations, and written works on his thoughts, this research identifies several inclusive leadership principles within Hamka's thinking, such as the principle of prioritising the collective good over individual interests. These findings suggest that Hamka opened up opportunities for women to play a more active role in leadership, challenging patriarchal norms that restrict women's potential. This research is anticipated to contribute to the development of a more inclusive framework for Islamic leadership and to foster efforts to empower women in various fields, including politics and religion.
