Abstract

One step in the success of breastfeeding is to refer the mother to the Breastfeeding peer support after the mother returns from the health service. the existence of support group for breastfeeding mothers is an important factor that can support the success of mothers for breastfeeding. (Bevan and Brown, 2014). The existence of peer support for breastfeeding mothers can also increase initiation breastfeeding, the duration of exclusive breastfeeding and the satisfaction of mothers with breastfeeding (Vari et al., 2000; Lawrence, 2000). The aim of research is to determine effect of breastfeeding peer support on early complementary feeding in infant. The type of research used is case control research. This research is carried out in primary health care of Ampel 1, Boyolali District, Indonesia. The sampling method using quota sampling technique with a total sample of 30 respondents. The analysis used is the Chi Square formula. The results showed that breastfeeding peer support had an effect in reducing early complementary feeding. OR values showed 11,000 (95% CI: 1,998-60,572) this meant that breastfeeding peer support had a risk of 11 times lowering breastfeeding mothers' behavior in giving early complementary feeding. Conclusions: breastfeeding peer support affects the reduction of early complementary feeding in breastfeeding mothers.

Abstract

The maternal mortality rate is 19,500 to 20,000 people every year or occurs every 26-27 minutes. The caus of maternal death is bleeding 30.5%, infection 22,5%, gestosis 17,5 and anesthesia 2%.  The infant mortality rate is around 10,000 to 280,000 per 18-20 minutes. The cause of infant mortality is due to Low Birth Weight (LBW) of 15/1000%.  The infant mortality rate in Indonesia is still the highest problem in other ASEAN countries. The infant mortality rate in Indonesia from 2008 was around 248 per 100,000 live births. Basic Health Research (RISKESDA) 2013 shows there are still 10,2% of babies with LBW, which is less than 2,500 grams. Neonatal death because LBW is basically affected by the nutritional status of pregnant women. This study aims to determine the relationship between the nutritional status of pregnant women and the  incidence  of  LBW. This  quantitative  research  uses  a  case  control  approach  using  a  retrospective approach. The population in this study were mothers who had given birth to babies during the last two years (2016-2017). The sampling technique uses total sampling for control cases by using a ratio of 1: 1 for the case group of 40: 40 samples. Analysis using Chi Square with p value 0,000 (OR=3,500, CI 95%=2,313-5,296). There is a relationship between nutritional status of pregnant women and the incidence of LBW. Health Technology Assessment (HTA) which can seek 1000 first day of life can be a breakthrough in assessing and providing interventions of nutrition in families, especially in pregnant women.

Abstract

Breast Milk is known as the best food for babies and contains many nutritious substances. Many factors influenced successful breastfeeding, especially for working mothers. This study is intended to explore the relationship between mothers' employment status and breastfeeding status using a cross-sectional design that utilizes secondary data collected from the implementation of the "Sleman Health Demographic Surveillance System". Other variables collected were education attainment and living location. Data used in this study was 297 by direct interviews with mothers of infants/toddlers or their caregivers. Chi-square analysis was used to determine the relationship between employment status and breastfeeding with a significance level of 95%. The percentage of basic education attainment in the sample did not differ from the national figure, while women who can complete high school and college education are higher than the national figure. More than half of the respondents are not working. No relationship was found in the analysis of relationships between mothers' employment status and breastfeeding status (p-value 0.05).

Abstract

The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that 15% - 20% of pregnant women experience complications. If this problem does not receive adequate treatment, pregnancy complications can contribute to maternal mortality, therefore detecting from the beginning the presence of abnormalities, complications, and complications of pregnancy must be carried out proactively by both health workers and the community, one of them by the health cadres. This study aims to determine the relationship between motivation, supervision, education and training on the ability of the health cadres in the promotion of health of pregnant women. The study was conducted on 7 February to 6 May 2016. This research was an explanatory study with quantitative research methods using a cross-sectional approach. The number of samples was 269 active health cadres. The sampling technique is multi-stage cluster random sampling. Independent variables include motivation, supervision, education and training. The dependent variable is the ability of the health cadres to promote the health of pregnant women. Data collection using a questionnaire, data analysis using Path Analysis. Factors related to the ability of the health cadres in the promotion of health promotion for pregnant women include: motivation (b = 0.68, 95% CI = 0.16 to 1.42, p = 0.01); supervision (b = 1.11, CI 95% = 0.58 to 1.65, p = 0.001), education and training (b = 0.88, 95% CI = 0.36 to 1.21, p = 0.001). Factors related with motivation include: supervision (b = 0.61. 95% CI = 0.13 to 1.11, p = 0.01); education and training: (b = -0.04, 95% CI = -0.52 to 0.44, p = 0.86). df = 1; AIC = 707.81; BIC=732.29. There is a relationship between motivation, supervision, education and training with the ability of health cadres to promote the health of pregnant women. Supervision is the most related factor. Supervision is related to motivation, good supervision will increase the motivation of health cadres, while education and training relate to motivation, health cadres with good education and training, reduce motivation in health promotion, but not statistically significant.
