Abstract

In athletes, it is very important to maintain a good performance from start to finish, especially at certain times. The use of oxygen and blood flow will increase to meet the oxygen needs of the muscles during exercise. When there is increasing oxygen demand happens in the body, there will be stimulation of erythropoietin to produce red blood cells in the bone marrow, which is affect to the haematocrit value. The purpose of this literature review is to make a distinction about the difference in haematocrit levels in athletes and non-athletes. The reviewed articles were obtained through the Google Scholar and PubMed databases. The articles included are in English and Indonesian, published in 2011-2021. Different results were found between the studies appraised in this review, this could be due to differences in several factors such as duration, frequency, type of exercise, dehydration, gender, and nutritional intake

Abstract

Low back pain is a very common health problem and can affect the quality of life. Pain that arises in low back pain can be either nociceptive pain or neuropathic pain. This literature review discusses the neuropathic pain component of low back pain.  This review uses a narrative review method. The articles were obtained from keyword searches in the Science Direct, PubMed, and ProQuest databases with a publication range of 2011-2021 in Indonesian or English, and research on the components of neuropathic pain in low back pain. Of the eight articles included in this literature review, the prevalence of neuropathic pain in low back pain was 2.8% - 65.3%. Neuropathic pain can be ruled out using LANSS, DN4, and PDQ. Low back pain with neuropathic pain had symptoms of burning (34.58% - 82.9%), pinpricks (31.77% - 78%), tingling (32.71% - 84.8%), numbness (42.05% - 97%), electric shock (38.97% - 78%), itching (16.82% - 42.4%), cold sensation (12.15% - 48.5%), allodynia (19.62% - 85.4%), 61% hyperalgesia, 14.6% autonomic dysfunction, 100% had dysesthesia, and 100% experienced a decrease in tenderness/prickling. Radicular low back pain is often caused by L5 or S1 root compression and rarely L4. Neuropathic low back pain can be based on an assessment of the symptom profile. Associated risk factors are older age, being a female, greater anthropometric status, the habit of drinking alcohol, smoking, and history of previous lumbar, abdominal or pelvic surgery

Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is a disease caused by the dengue virus and transmitted through the bite of the Aedes aegypti mosquito. One effective option to prevent the transmission of the disease is by avoiding the bite of the Aedes aegypti mosquito by using a repellent-type insecticide. The use of chemical insecticides widely circulated in the market often has negative effects, such as irritation to the skin. Red betel leaf contains several active compounds that may act as contact poisons and are effective as repellents. The purpose of this study was to test the effectiveness of ethanol extract of red betel leaf against Aedes aegypti mosquitoes. This study was an true experimental post-test only with a control group design, consisting of 4 concentrations of ethanolic extract of red betel leaf (12.5%, 25%, 50%, 100%), DEET 15% K(+), and aquades K(-) with four replications. Serial concentrations ethanol extract of red betel leaf K(+), and K(-) were applied to the back skin of mice exposed to mosquitoes for 5 minutes for every minute. The concentration of 100% at every minute had no significant difference with the positive control (p>0.05). The conclusions from this research were red betel leaf ethanol extract with concentrations of 12.5%, 25%, 50%, and 100% was effective as a mosquito repellent Aedes aegypti, and red betel leaf ethanol extract with a concentration of 100% was equivalent to 15% DEET

Abstract

Hypertension in pregnancy is one of the most common causes of maternal death in Indonesia as well as in other developed countries such as the United States. The cause of preeclampsia is currently uncertain, but there are several risk factors that can increase the occurrence of preeclampsia. Coronavirus disease 19 (COVID-19) is caused by the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus-2 (SARS CoV-2). Pregnant women and hypertension are factors that can increase the risk of COVID-19. If not treated properly, hypertension in pregnancy can cause maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality. The purpose of this study was to describe the incidence of maternal hypertension in pregnancy with COVID-19 based on age, parity, gravida, history of preeclampsia, and education at Ulin Hospital Banjarmasin for the period May 2020-June 2021. This research method was descriptive with data collection through medical records. patient. The sampling technique used is total sampling. The subjects of this study amounted to 88 patients. This study shows preeclampsia is the type of hypertension in pregnancy with COVID-19 being the most common, which was 57 patients (64.7%). Most of the patients were in the age range of 20-35 years, as many as 52 patients (59.3%). Based on parity, most of the cases occurred in mothers with multilipara as many as 39 patients (44.3 %). Gravida was found mostly in mothers with multigravida as many as 63 patients (71.6%). Based on a history of preeclampsia, patients who did not have a history of preeclampsia were found to be more than patients who had a history of preeclampsia, namely as many as 52 patients (59.1%) and the majority of patients' education at the high school level, which was 29 patients (32.9%).
