Abstract

The digital media that is currently developing makes human activities centered around digital media. However, there are various negative impacts of digital media that are detrimental to humans, such as being affected by inaccurate information (hoax). The purpose of this study was to determine the readiness of Unpar students in facing the development of digitalization to avoid confusion and the spread of hoaxes in digital media. This study uses quantitative methods, data collection is carried out by conducting a survey via google form to Parahyangan Catholic University students from all generations and faculties with 80 respondents. Based on the results of the survey and discussion of the survey, it shows that the majority of Unpar students have received hoax news through digital media, particularly across group chats and social media like Instagram and Facebook. According to most Unpar students, the factors that cause the number of hoaxes circulating in digital media are the public's tendency to easily believe in new information or news and the lack of public digital literacy. As well as effective efforts to minimize hoax news circulating in digital media is to increase people's digital literacy through educational institutions such as schools, universities, and other educational institutions. In addition, preventive steps that can be taken so as not to be easily consumed by hoaxes are critical in receiving information and not easily believing in news that is not yet known to be true.

Abstract

The Indonesian government believes that the development of an electric power plant in Gunung Talang will have a positive impact on improving the welfare of the community. However, this plan is not uniformly accepted by the local community, as their area will be affected by the development. The local community around Gunung Talang who will be affected by it have protested the government's plan. It is important to consider the local community's thoughts in development planning. The methodology used in this study is ethnography, utilizing emic and etic data, and employing purposive sampling, key informants, and ordinary informants. The results indicate that the local community's understanding and beliefs about their customary land are essential to their survival and well-being. They feel that the land is a source of life that needs to be protected and preserved. They also feel that the government has not considered their needs and interests in this development plan. The conclusion of this study is that involving the local community in development planning and considering their perspective is crucial to minimizing negative impacts and maximizing positive outcomes from it. Therefore, this can provide broader benefits to the community and strengthen social and ecological sustainability.

Media literacy in modern times has become a fundamental need required to be owned by the community, especially students. Through the application of good and wise media literacy, readers can avoid bad influences due to inaccurate information. In its application, media literacy has a lot of contact with social media (a digital platform that is often used for social interaction as well as a reference for exchanging information). Many cases and violations have occurred as a result of misuse of information and the spread of fake news in the digital world, for this reason, high awareness is needed for social media users to apply ethics and morals as formed in the concept of Digital Citizenship. Through globalization theory which can provide direction regarding the relationship of the three important points (media literacy, social media and digital citizenship), it is hoped that this research report can add new insights and points of view for readers. In an effort to get mature conclusions, accurate data is needed, where in this research report the related group has approached students majoring in International Relations at Parahyangan University as the target respondents to fill in the questions given through a questionnaire form. Furthermore, the analysis is created in accordance with existing data and is not contrived

Abstract

This article delves into the philosophical-theological significance of Huma Betang, the traditional house of the Dayak people in Central Kalimantan, within the context of the Church's faith dialogue. Huma Betang, serving as a cultural representation, articulates values of humanity, familial bonds, communal living, and equality. The research aims to delineate the theological values manifested in the daily dynamics of Huma Betang, concentrating on the faith dialogue within the Church's responsibilities, including diakonia, kerygma, martyria, the celebration of faith/liturgy, and koinonia. The research methodology employs a literature review approach, drawing from previous writings, the perspectives of Aloysius Pieris, and documents from the Catholic Church. The study's findings reveal that the Theology of Huma Betang mirrors the religiosity of Asia, illustrating communal living where the community gathers to listen to the word of God. Values of familial bonds, communal living, and equality serve as the foundation for the everyday dynamics of Huma Betang, illustrating the principle of collective living in harmony with others.

Abstract

Epicurus had four remedies called tetrapharmakos, which were as follows: 'Don't fear God, don't worry about death: what is good is easy to get, and what is terrible is easy to endure.' Death should not be feared because when it arrives, we are no longer capable of experiencing it. In reality, why do humans fear death? This issue has been examined using the research method of studying literature, particularly the philosophical thoughts of Epicureans. Many of the implicit fears humans have about death are actually fears of suffering (pain). Those who are excessively afraid of death and plan for it in great detail end up disturbing their inner peace and, as a result, they are not happy. Therefore, Epicureans suggest that we should enjoy the present moment. Death will certainly come, but we can face it with a calm and undisturbed soul (ataraxia), which is the happiness that Epicureans seek to achieve.

Abstract

Appreciating a work of art, particularly in theater performances, often leaves humans overwhelmed with indescribable emotions. This is due to the role of empathy within human beings that relates to what is seen on stage. In theoretical studies, art can be enjoyed through phenomenological aspects and more empirical approaches. One of them is through the lens of neuroaesthetics. This article employs a qualitative descriptive approach using the ChatGPT AI. The conclusion is that the relationship between aesthetic experiences and brain function ultimately reinforces each other.
