Abstract

According to a report from PT Trans Marga Jateng in March 2011, there was a change in the condition of the Penggaron Bridge located in the Semarang–Solo toll road Km. 20–21. These changes are indicated due to the Landslide, resulting in erosion and subsidence on the east side of the Penggaron bridge. As a result of the ground movement arises fractures in the expansion joint on the right side and there is a decrease in soil. Based on this, monitoring the movement of the soil by studying geological data, the occurrence of soil movements, geomorphology, water, rainfall, land use and installation of stakes. The method used in the form of a sliding stake measured using the Global Position System (GPS) - Real-time Kinematic (RTK) to get the position vector with high accuration. The results show that there are several points on the sliding stakes which show a change between 0.7–69 cm at 6 points of stakes. Horizontal shift shows the direction of the vector to the south and southeast, and vertically the magnitude of the change in peg increase ranges from 2–13 cm and and decrease of stakes around 0.7–17.5 cm for 10 months periods from February until November 2018.

Abstract

Crosta method is a method of remote sensing data processing to determine alteration zones associated with mineralization in an area with favorable geological conditions. The Crosta method is applied to remote sensing image data in the Cisolok field campus area, Sukabumi. The enhancement process of the 1,3,4,5 and 1,4,5,7 bands gives a picture of the significant zone separation between the distribution of clay changes and the distribution of iron oxide changes in the study area. Data validation was carried out on the determined observation points and gave an average Fe 2O3 content of 15.2%. The geological structure and various alteration zones in the Cisolok field campus area, Sukabumi provide significant added value in the application of this method in separating zones of iron oxide and clay alteration.

Abstract

The need for a large number of competent mining operations supervisors at PT Timah Tbk. is very much needed until now. This is an embodiment of fulfilling the mandate in the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Regulation No. 26 of 2018 concerning the Implementation of Good Mining Engineering Rules, Article 7, “every mining business licence must have the competent mining technical personnel in accordance with the provisions of laws and regulations”. As a result of these regulations, PT Timah Tbk seeks to include its employees in the Training and Certification of the First Operational Supervisor at PPSDM Geominerba. This post-training evaluation was carried out at PT Timah, Tbk. Located in Sungailiat City, Bangka Belitung Province. The results of the post-training evaluation specifically found that the practice time was considered to be insufficient. They hope that there will be field observations to implement training courses for conducting inspections. In addition, the duration of mining safety analysis needs to be added.

Abstract

Ciwidey is an area in the southern part of Bandung regency that has the potential for abundant natural resources, there is the potential for nature tourism, plantations, agriculture, geothermal, and if all the potential resources used maximally that will help development in Bandung regency and Ciwidey area especially. Average rainfall in the southern part of Bandung Metropolitan is 1500-4500 mm / yr, while the highest rainfall (3000-4500 mm / yr) is in the Southwest, namely in the magnification areas, such as Mount Patuha, Mount Powo, Mount Sumbul and Mount Kuda. This condition is interesting to be studied for the determination of Local Meteoric Water Line (LMWL). The method for determining LMWL is based on the analysis results of the stable isotope composition of 18O and 2H because rainwater isotopes have unique characteristics that are valued differently at each elevation. Rainwater sampling was carried out in 4 (four) different places, namely Ciwidey KUD with a height of 1114m above sea level (asl), Alamendah Village (1300m asl), Rancawalini (1770m asl) and Mount Patuha (1948m asl). The results of the stable isotope analysis of rainwater produce the local air meteoric equation in Ciwidey and its surroundings, namely δ2H = 7.55 δ18O + 12.06with R2= 0.990. This LMWL line equation can be used as a standard for determine recharge areawhich is very useful for groundwater management or geothermal management in Ciwidey area.

Abstract

The condition of rock mass in nature is influenced by exogenous and endogenous forces, one of the consequences is the existence of a structure of discontinuity in rock mass, which is a rock mass increment which in the concept of stability may be a factor to reduce stability. In more detail, differences in surface roughness of the discontinuous plane (in this study are joint) and joint length (persistence) are properties that cannot be ignored in the assessment of slope stability conditions. Int his study, persistence was grouped into two, namely persistence of more than 3 m and persistence of less than 3 m. The measurement results obtained Joint Roughness Coefficient (JRC) which is a quantification of the roughness at the joint major (persistence more than 3 m) is at a value of 4-6 (as much as 71.4% of the total joints measured) and the rest is 0-2,2 -4, 8-10, and 12-14 based on the Barton-Bandhis scale (1977). In the stability analysis, the roughness of the major discontinuous plane is depicted under the actual conditions recorded in the cross section, while the minor joint (persistence less than 3 m) is described as a joint network with JRC values of combinations 4 and 8. The result, the slope condition of the study is considered safe based on six cross section analyzed. The smallest Strength Reduction Factor (SRF) value is at 1.89 and the probability of failure is at 5.81%, both of which are still within the safe range based on ministerial decree of Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources No. 1827/2018.

Abstract

Fragmentation of blasting results is one of the aspects assessed in the training of the 1st Class Blaster whose the plan of blasting is carried out at the PPSDM-Geominerba field campus. The results of blasting must consider three conditions including a fraction size greater than 80 cm (boulder)maximum of 5%, a powder factor (PF) maximum of 0.30 kg/m³, and evenly fragmentation size distribution. Blasting geometry is designed with a vertical level of 8 m, average holes depth of 9.4 m with a slope of 20°, spaced 3.45 m, and burden 2.67 m. Total weight of explosives (ANFO) of 396,3kg charged in to the 18 blast holes with diameter of 76 mm. Rock fragmentation distribution predicted by Kuz-Ram model exposed a final result of blasting containing boulder of 9,53%, PF of 0,28 kg/m³, and uniformity index of 1,39. The design of blasting geometry is modified by changing the burden to 2.4 m and the other parameters being relatively the same. The results of blasting are predicted to leave a boulder of 5.76%, the uniformity index improves to 1.50, but the PF increases by 0.31 kg/m³. The modification is the optimum design of blast geometry that is feasible to be applied at the beginning of blasting activity on the field campus.

Abstract

In seismic wave propagation modeling, the problem is the boundary conditions of the model to approach the real situation. The boundary conditions of the model are edges, free surfaces, and boundaries between layers. In this study, 2D elastic wave propagation simulation was made using a fourth order finite difference approach and staggered grid by applying boundary conditions to the modeling. At the edges of the model, the pseudo boundary conditions were applied using the damping function to eliminate the effect of reflection on the edges of the medium model. On the free surface, the boundary conditions of the free surface are applied where the stress on the surface is zero and in the boundary between layers, all stresses and shift vectors are continuous so that propagation at the boundary of the medium will be correct. The wave source used is a Gaussian derivative. By varying the use of damping factor (Df) and damping width (nabs) at the edge of the medium model, the optimum attenuation for the pseudo boundary conditions of the model is at Df= 3 and n abs at 70-100 grid points. Free surface and between layers boundary condition are used to make corrections to the wave propagation phase changes when a wave hits the model boundary.

Abstract

PT Vale Indonesia Tbk is a subsidiary of Vale S.A. (Brazil) under Vale Base Metal group (Canada) located at Sorowako village, East Luwu regency, South Sulawesi province, in Indonesia, a foreign investment company in mining industry that running to explore, mine, process, and produce nickel in mate as an intermediate product. This paper is intended to introduce the “reusereduce-recycle” (3R) idea as an environmentally friendly concept by means of utilizing the scrap tires as alternative construction material for geotechnical engineering purposes. In terms of mining operational, PT Vale Indonesia Tbk consumes prefabricated tires that required for heavy equipment such as hauling trucks and wheel-loaders. Tire consumption for the mining operational is fluctuated ranging of 350–600 ea. per annum depending on some technical factors in example pavement condition, road geometry, braking frequency, payloads, et cetera. The large number of the current tire consumption is remaining a big problem in terms of availability of disposal (waste dump) to disposing the scrap tires. So far, the scrap tires are disposed merely into the waste dump as if a less valuable waste material. There is an idea to use scrap tires as construction materials. Geotechnical stability of the retaining structure made of the scrap tires are analyzed to obtain safety factor and reliable of the structure to stabilize the widening road in durable manner. The result of the research is that the utilization of scrap tires has fulfilled safety factor for long term about 1.46 without load seismic and 1.04 with load seismic.

Abstract

The development of the processing and refining industry cannot be separated from the mandate of Law No. 4 of 2009 concerning Mineral and Coal Mining which requires domestically is obliged to process and refine minerals and coal in the country. There are still few schools that specialize in mining and metallurgy. Including high school (SMA) and vocational high school (SMK) still do not have a metallurgical curriculum. Thus there are competency gaps possessed by high school /vocational school students to enter metallurgical industries. Therefore, to reduce the competency gap possessed by high school / vocational school graduates in the locations around the smelter industry that are built, vocational training is needed to be able to provide the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed by high school/ vocational graduates to be accepted in the smelter industry. Post-Training Evaluation was carried out in Southeast Sulawesi province, where the rapid development of the smelter industry in this province. The results of the post-training evaluation specifically found that the practice time in the training was considered to be added. Even though it is quite a large amount of practice time allocated to education and training (50%), the skills provided are not too specific as those done in companies in South Sulawesi.
