Abstract

Student discipline encompasses not only compliance with school rules and punctuality but also the development of positive habits that can be cultivated through scouting activities. This study aims to explore the role of scout leaders in shaping students’ disciplined practice habits through scouting programs. The research employs a qualitative approach with a case study design to investigate the coaching practices at the SD Negeri Pulias Abaling scout post in depth. Seven respondents were purposively selected as the primary subjects, representing diverse perspectives on participation and involvement in scouting activities. The results indicate that most indicators of discipline reached high levels, including adherence to training schedules (80%), compliance with leaders’ instructions (87%), consistency in active participation (92%), responsibility for equipment and training tasks (87%), and respectful and orderly behavior during activities (93%). The aspect of independence in completing training tasks showed the lowest achievement (77%), indicating the need to strengthen self-reliant habits. These findings reinforce the understanding that scouting guidance is effective in developing student discipline and have implications for designing more systematic and sustainable training programs in schools.

Abstract

Elementary school in Indonesia aims to cultivate a generation that excels academically while embodying Pancasila values and demonstrating environmental awareness. This study analyzes the implementation of a Deep Learning approach in strengthening the P5 framework through mindful, joyful, and meaningful learning in elementary schools, with the goal of fostering students’ environmental concern through practical school-based activities. The research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design at SD Negeri 2 Timoreng Panua, involving 48 informants, including the school principal, two teachers, and 45 students. The results indicate that the implementation of P5 reinforcement based on Deep Learning enhances students’ environmental awareness, measured through moral awareness (83.09%), learning enjoyment (83.53%), and learning significance that reinforces the values of mutual cooperation (81.50%), responsibility (78.05%), and tolerance (75.62%). The mindful, joyful, and meaningful learning approach successfully created a reflective learning ecosystem that is aligned with Pancasila values and environmentally friendly, while effectively promoting students’ critical thinking, empathy, and ecological consciousness. These findings underscore the importance of conscious, enjoyable, and meaningful learning strategies for strengthening Pancasila character and environmental stewardship in primary education.

Abstract

This study examines the increase in primary school students’ library visitation interest through the implementation of a smart library at Bangkok Patana School in Songkha, Thailand. The study aims to identify the effectiveness of the smart library in fostering visitation interest and to understand the factors influencing it. A qualitative approach was employed using a case study design, involving 15 students, 3 teachers, and the head librarian, all selected purposively. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and participatory observation. The findings indicate that the implementation of the smart library significantly increased students’ visitation frequency, from an average of twice per week to 5.4 times per week. Furthermore, 87% of students identified the key factors driving their visits, including user-friendliness (85%), content relevance and quality (80%), accessibility and compatibility (82%), engagement and interactivity (85%), and system reliability and performance (86%). These results suggest that the smart library plays a significant role in enhancing digital literacy and self-regulated learning. The study’s contribution lies in providing an empirical mapping of the effectiveness of digital libraries in primary schools and identifying the key elements that influence students’ visitation interest within the context of digital elementary education.

Abstract

Gamification is expected to enhance students’ motivation, engagement, and understanding in the process of self-directed learning in the digital era. This study aims to analyze students’ sentiments toward the use of gamification-based learning platforms in supporting independent learning at the elementary school level. The research was conducted at SDN 1 Sibaluton, involving 20 sixth-grade students as subjects. The methods employed included observation, questionnaires, interviews, and student worksheets, while data analysis was carried out using the Miles and Huberman model through stages of data collection, reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that approximately more than 85% of students held positive sentiments toward the gamification platform, reflecting high acceptance of its interactive features, reward system, and ease of understanding the material. These findings demonstrate increased motivation, interest, and learning engagement among students, as well as affirming the effectiveness of gamification in supporting self-directed learning. This study provides valuable insights for educators and platform developers in designing more engaging and effective learning experiences, while also emphasizing the importance of considering student feedback in improving learning strategies.

Abstract

The internalization of school norms is a crucial component in shaping character and discipline among primary school students. This study aims to strengthen the internalization of school norms among elementary students through the use of the Monopoly of Local Environment Rules media. The research was conducted using a Research and Development (R&D) approach within the ADDIE framework. A total of 30 second-grade students from SDN Kayu Putih 03 Jakarta participated as respondents to test the effectiveness of the media. Instrument validation results indicated a high level of feasibility, with scores of 90% from media experts, 89.41% from content experts, and 92% from language experts, all categorized as highly valid and suitable for use. Implementation of the media in learning elicited positive student responses, reflected in a total score of 1,135 out of a maximum of 1,200 (≈ 89.67%), classified as very attractive, and demonstrated increased student motivation and engagement in learning. The findings confirm that this media can enhance understanding and internalization of school norms while supporting the achievement of Pancasila Education learning objectives. The study’s implications suggest that the media can serve as an alternative, contextual, interactive, and enjoyable instructional strategy for instilling normative values in primary school students.

Abstract

The research aims to determine strategies to overcome effective communication rigidity through habituation to learning public speaking. This research is qualitative-quantitative descriptive type with data collection techniques including direct observation and interviews involving teachers and students of grades V and VI SDN 6 Tolitoli and distributing questionnaires.  The research findings confirm that a lack of motivation and insufficient speaking habits in classroom forums are the dominant factors contributing to students’ speaking rigidity in both classes, with percentages ranging from approximately 70% to 77%, although all other factors also exert strong influences, each exceeding 70%. In responding to these findings, five effective strategies were determined that teachers can apply gradually in increasing students' effective communication habits as well as effective in overcoming public speaking rigidity, which begins with providing speaking habits in discussion forums/direct speaking practices, building confidence, and advanced assignments (practices in intracurricular, extracurricular, and community forums). Based on the scope of this strategy, it is named as an effective communication habituation strategy. Through the implementation of these strategies, it can contribute effectively in improving students' public speaking skills to be more confident and able to channel their ideas in a wider public forum.

Abstract

Effective communication skills constitute a crucial foundation for the development of children’s social and academic competencies, making it essential to cultivate these skills from an early age in elementary education. This study aims to enhance students’ effective communication skills through the implementation of the Quantum Teaching Model (QTM), which is believed to foster interactive learning and improve students’ communicative abilities. The research employed a qualitative descriptive approach, involving 20 students from SD Negeri 2 Tambun, selected through representative sampling. Students were presented with open-ended problems requiring multiple solutions, thereby stimulating critical thinking and creativity. Data analysis was integrated with triangulation techniques through stages of data collection, simplification, categorization, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate an improvement in students’ communication skills across the dimensions of curiosity (13.40%), attitude (8.25%), competitiveness (12.89%), and external motivation (14.44%). These findings affirm that the implementation of QTM promotes more active and participatory learning interactions, thereby enhancing students’ communication skills and supporting the development of 21st-century competencies, particularly critical thinking, collaboration, and interactive communication. This study provides significant contributions to the development of QTM-based instructional strategies oriented toward improving students’ communication competencies and classroom interactions.
