Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of personality (including extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, openness to experience, and neuriticism) on social loafing. The research method chosen is quantitative. The research sample was 222 college students of UIN Syekh Wasil Kediri with an accidental sampling technique. The instruments used were the Big Five Inventory adapted by Agung et al. (2019) and the social loafing scale adapted by Ramdhani (2012). The test results showed F = 7.32 with a significance of p = 0.00 (<0.01), meaning that the variables of extraversion, neuroticism, conscientiousness, agreement, and openness to experience simultaneously influence social loafing. The next result, partially, the dimensions of agreement (β = –0.196; p = 0.005) and conscientiousness (β = –0.276; p = 0.000) had a significant negative effect on social loafing. This indicates that the higher the two dimensions, the lower the tendency of students social loafing behavior.

Abstract

This study examines the effect of Jaran Dor Dance practice on improving the confidence of students in grades IV-VI SDN 1 Tunggorono. Using an experimental approach with a pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design, this study involved 30 students who were selected through purposive sampling techniques. Data were collected using a confidence scale in Likert format and supported by observation and documentation. The Jaran Dor Dance intervention is carried out in a structured manner, paying attention to the characteristics of the development of elementary school students and the potential of local cultural arts as a medium for individual capacity development. The results of the analysis showed a significant increase in self-confidence (t = -42.419, p < 0.001) with an average increase of 13.93 points. Observational data revealed that students progressively demonstrated increased willingness to perform in front of peers, showed more active participation in group discussions, and exhibited greater initiative in leading dance movements by the final sessions. These findings indicate that Jaran Dor Dance is effective in increasing students' confidence through culturally meaningful learning experiences.

Abstract

Syiah Kuala University (USK) is one of the state universities in Indonesia located in Aceh, where the majority of students are Muslim. Such an environment can be an important factor that influences the experience of non-Muslim students in adjusting to an environment rich in Islamic values and norms. The purpose of this study is to determine how non-Muslim students at USK adjust, including the challenges they face and how they adapt to their surroundings. This study uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. Data collection for this study was conducted through observation and in-depth interviews using a semi-structured interview model. There were five research participants obtained through purposive sampling, with the criteria being active students at USK who are non-Muslim. The results of this study show that the adjustment process of non-Muslim students is going quite well. Challenges in the form of cultural differences, religious activities, and social norms on campus were faced with an open attitude, mutual respect, respect for worship time, and adjusting the way of dressing. Conversely, the support of the environment greatly helped them to adapt. Peers, lecturers, and student organizations were perceived as tolerant. They felt mutual respect and received adjustments to their activity and worship schedules in accordance with their religion. The people around them also actively and openly build relationships with them, so that they feel accepted for who they are without discrimination.

Abstract

This study investigates the complex and often regressive social responses to rape victims, highlighting the persistent stigmatization, victim-blaming, and institutional neglect they experience. Even in the face of changing legal contexts and heightened public sensitivity, victims are often confronted with hostility, suspicion, and exclusion that erode justice and emotional healing. By integrating different socio-legal approaches from linguistic research into rape sentencing and sociocultural assessments across South Asian realities, this article highlights how patriarchal ideology, religious meaning-making, and honor ideologies create a culture of impunity and silence. Institutional limitations in the form of underreporting, police indifference, procedural failures, and a culture of shame that both disempower and disempower victims from reporting crimes are discussed. The discussion also covers legal solutions, state obligations, and new activism to redefine the discourse of sexual violence. Finally, the paper seeks a multifaceted critique of current societal responses, calling for survivor-centered reforms, educational campaigns, and institutional accountability to change attitudes in society and in courts. Through this in-depth analysis, this research hopes to create a more empathetic, more informed, and more just environment for rape survivors.

Abstract

General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) pioneered preventive brain health and mental well-being by integrating Life’s Ten Principles into the Certificate in Teaching in Higher Education (CTHE) program during the 2024 Preventive Brain Health Week. The pilot involved 40 early-career academics who participated in interactive lectures, practical sessions, and reflective teaching portfolios focusing on holistic lifestyle factors such as healthy eating, physical activity, sleep hygiene, stress management, metabolic health, and social engagement. The findings suggest that feedback from students and young academics was used to inform decisions regarding program improvement. Furthermore, participants reported that integrating brain health activities may support professional development, teaching effectiveness, and mental resilience, contributing to a healthy, happy, and effective learning environment

Abstract

Discipline is a form of students’ attitudes and behaviors in the school environment that reflects obedience to rules, self-control, and commitment to fulfilling responsibilities with full awareness. However, observations of fourth-grade students at SDN Satak 2 revealed a lack of disciplinary behavior, such as not wearing the prescribed uniform, failing to complete assignments on time, not maintaining order during learning activities, and neglecting classroom duty schedules. These behavioral issues encouraged the researcher to implement a token economy intervention. This study aimed to examine whether the token economy method could improve the disciplinary behavior of fourth-grade students at SDN Satak 2 Puncu, Kediri. This study employed a quantitative method with an experimental approach using a one-group pretest–posttest design. Data were collected through questionnaires, observations, and documentation. The population of this study consisted of all fourth-grade students at SDN Satak 2, totaling 14 students, and the sample included the entire population using a saturated sampling technique. The results showed an increase in the mean score from 43.79 in the pretest to 62.86 in the posttest. The Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test yielded a significance value of 0.001 (p < 0.05), indicating a statistically significant difference before and after the implementation of the token economy method. The N-Gain value was 0.7986, which falls into the high category, indicating a substantial improvement in scores. Therefore, the token economy method is proven to be effective in improving the disciplinary behavior of fourth-grade students at SDN Satak 2 Puncu, Kediri.
