Abstract

In the era of the industrial revolution, 4.0 has opened up opportunities and challenges in increasingly fierce competition between companies in the same industry. Companies are required to utilize various effective strategies to increase sales results. This study aims to look at the application of SWOT analysis in building a marketing strategy that is expected to increase sales results at PT Arhapro. The method used is qualitative, with data obtained through interviews and literature studies. The results showed that the application of SWOT analysis was carried out through several stages, namely the identification of the company's internal strengths and weaknesses and opportunities and threats from the external environment. Through the analysis, researchers found that PT Arhapro's strengths lie in product quality and a loyal customer base, while its weaknesses include limitations in promotion. From the external side, the opportunities that can be utilized are the increasing market demand, while the threats come from aggressive competitors. The implication of this research is that SWOT analysis not only strengthens the theory but can be used as a practical guide for companies that can be applied by marketing practitioners in facing various increasingly modern market dynamics. Further research is needed with a wider sample and with more varied methods to deepen the understanding and application of SWOT analysis in various industrial contexts and market dynamics.

Abstract

Many developing countries' tourism economies rely heavily on the informal sector. This includes the set of economic activities, often but not exclusively carried out in small firms or by the self-employed, that evade government requirements such as registration, tax and social security obligations, and health and safety regulations, known as informal actors. Both informal and formal players collaborate with one another through mutual trust and shared resources, which has the potential to improve resource utilization and efficiency. This study aims to investigate the impact of cooperative practices on tourism service quality, examine how informal actors influence cooperative practices and service quality, and analyze the role of core competencies among formal actors in shaping tourism service quality and cooperative dynamics. With 165 participants, this quantitative study made use of SPSS and structural equation modelling. We find that firms' core competencies influence tourism service quality, whether through coopetition or direct relations, whereas informal actors' threat influences tourism service quality solely through coopetition. The factors that contribute the most in: 1) core competencies are marketing, finance, and human resource competence; 2) perceived threat of informal actors are market competitiveness, the existence of informal actors, impersonators of informal actors, and price competitiveness; 3) coopetition are market commonality, resource similarity, and willingness to cooperate; and 4) tourism service quality are assurance, responsiveness, and empathy. This research contributes to the strategic management literature by expanding on basic game theory, transactional cost theory, resourcebased theory, dynamic capabilities theory, and social network theory, all of which have the potential to lead to win-win situations and mutual benefits.

Abstract

The wealth of natural resources in different countries has a complex impact on economic development and people's welfare. The aim of this research is to critically evaluate the influence of natural resource wealth on happiness, assess the effectiveness of governance and policy in mediating this relationship, and provide actionable recommendations for policymakers to optimize the benefits of resource extraction. The analysis was conducted using data from 116 countries over the period 2017-2022. Linear regression models were used to examine the effect of mining production and national GDP on happiness. Data was taken from World Mining Data, the World Bank, and the World Happiness Report. The model used includes two approaches: one that measures the effect of national GDP on happiness, and another that considers the interaction between national GDP and mining production. Results show that national GDP has a significant positive correlation with happiness, supporting the “resource-based development” theory. However, the interaction between national GDP and mining production shows a negative effect, reflecting aspects of the “resource curse” theory. Variability in the impact of mining production was also observed, suggesting that the social and economic context influences this relationship. This research highlights the importance of effective natural resource management to improve people's happiness. While resource wealth can support economic growth, over-reliance on resource spending can reduce its positive impact. The findings provide insights for policymakers to formulate balanced strategies to utilize natural resources for sustainable social welfare.

Abstract

West Java Province is the most populous province in Indonesia, facing significant food insecurity challenges, particularly among poor households. With a growing population and increasing poverty rates, understanding food consumption dynamics is critical for policy-making. his study aims to analyze the impact of price, income, and socio-demographic factors on food consumption in poor households in West Java Province, both in urban and rural areas. The analysis method was carried out using the Linear Approximation Almost Ideal Demand System (LA-AIDS) model. The results of the study show that the food consumption of poor households in West Java is generally influenced by the own price of the commodity, the price of other commodities, income, number of household members, type of region (rural/urban), education of the household head (average years of schooling of the head of household) and the type of work of the head of the household (agriculture/nonagriculture). The overall expenditure elasticity of poor households shows the results of positive expenditure elasticity. This means that all groups of food commodities are normal goods and some of them fall into the category of luxury goods. The government should make a policy to control food demand through controlling food prices, through decreasing food prices so that household food demand increases.

Abstract

Indonesia's economy relies heavily on Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), which contribute greatly to GDP and employment. Among them, the food and beverage (F&B) industry has experienced tremendous growth, driven by consumer trends and the increasing popularity of coffee. The purpose of this study is to suggest strategies to improve the competitiveness of Talanoa Kopi and Space, a coffee shop located in Cibubur, by increasing brand awareness, consumer attitudes, and purchase intention. Structural Equation Modeling Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) was used to test the hypotheses regarding Marketing Mix, Brand Awareness, Consumer Attitude, and Purchase Intention in this study, which used a quantitative approach. The results show that Customer Attitude and Purchase Intention are substantially influenced by Brand Awareness, both directly and through mediation. In the same way, Marketing Mix affects Customer Attitude, but its effect on Purchase Intention is mediated by Customer Attitude. These observations underscore the importance of improving brand recognition and adjusting marketing strategies to meet consumer expectations. Proposed business solutions include implementing a multi-channel ordering system, launching a loyalty program, diversifying product offerings, and improving customer experience through innovative services and interactive engagement. This research contributes to the academic understanding of the interaction between marketing variables and consumer behavior while providing actionable recommendations for MSMEs in the food and beverage sector. Future research can explore similar frameworks in different contexts to validate these findings and increase generalizability.

Abstract

The dividend policy, proxied by dividend payout ratio, of conventional commercial banks in Indonesia from 2019 to 2023 showed a downward trend, giving a negative sentiment to the market. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of liquidity, operational efficiency, and profitability on dividend policy applied by conventional commercial banking companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange between 2019 and 2023. This study uses a quantitative approach with panel data regression method. Secondary data were taken from the annual financial statements of 11 conventional commercial banking companies, which were selected through purposive sampling. Data analysis was performed using EViews 13 software. The results show that liquidity has a negative and significant influence on dividend policy, operational efficiency also has a negative and significant impact, while profitability shows a positive and significant influence on dividend policy. This study suggests that companies balance loan distribution and third-party funds for liquidity while efficiently managing cash flow, reducing operating costs, and diversifying revenue to enhance profitability and dividend policy. This study provides valuable insights for managers and investors in making decisions related to dividend policy amidst changing economic dynamics. Further research is expected to explore other variables that may be influential in a broader context.
