Abstract

Parents' anxiety, especially mothers', regarding the effects of immunization remains a factor influencing the implementation of basic immunization in children. Pentabio immunization is a mandatory vaccine in the national immunization program to prevent diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, hepatitis B, and Haemophilus influenzae type b. However, negative perceptions and anxiety regarding possible side effects after immunization can hinder the acceptance and implementation of immunization. This study aims to analyze the relationship between mothers' knowledge level regarding Pentabio immunization and their anxiety level regarding the effects of immunization in children at the Lemo 1 Community Health Center. This study used an observational analytical design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 30 mothers selected using a purposive sampling technique. The research instruments included a 15-item knowledge questionnaire and a modified Hamilton anxiety scale. Data analysis was performed using the Chi-square test with an alternative Fisher's Exact Test at a significance level of 0.05. The results showed a significant relationship between mothers' knowledge level and anxiety (p = 0.048). Respondents with low knowledge levels tended to have higher anxiety levels compared to mothers with good knowledge. The conclusion of this study shows that maternal knowledge plays an important role in reducing anxiety regarding Pentabio immunization, so that structured education and effective health communication are needed in immunization services at primary health facilities.

Abstract

Emesis gravidarum is a common complaint among pregnant women in their first trimester that can interfere with daily activities, nutritional intake, and quality of life. One safe and easy-to-apply non-pharmacological intervention to reduce this complaint is lemon aromatherapy. This study aims to determine the effect of lemon aromatherapy on emesis gravidarum in pregnant women in their first trimester. The study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design. The study sample consisted of 30 pregnant women in their first trimester who were selected using purposive sampling. The intervention involved the administration of lemon aromatherapy through inhalation. The level of emesis gravidarum was measured before and after the intervention using an appropriate nausea and vomiting scale. Data analysis was performed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The results showed a significant difference between the levels of emesis before and after lemon aromatherapy (p = 0.000). Before the intervention, most respondents experienced moderate to severe emesis, while after the intervention, the majority of respondents experienced mild emesis and no severe emesis was found. The conclusion of this study indicates that lemon aromatherapy has a significant effect in reducing gravidarum emesis in first trimester pregnant women and can be used as a supportive non-pharmacological therapy in antenatal care.

Abstract

A crucial and beneficial step in avoiding the development of hypertensive illnesses during pregnancy is to provide calcium supplementation. To lower the risk of pregnancy problems, special consideration should be given to the degree to which expectant mothers are knowledgeable about and adhere to the use of calcium supplements. Utilizing a quantitative methodology and correlational analytical design, this study seeks to examine the impact of calcium supplementation on the prevention of preeclampsia in expectant mothers. All pregnant women who were the targets of the study were included in the study population, with a total sample size of 90 respondents obtained using total sampling methods. Because the data being analyzed was on an ordinal scale, the Kendall's tau b correlation test was used to conduct bivariate analysis. With a correlation coefficient value of τ = 0.672 and a p value of 0.000 (0.01), the study's findings revealed a strong and statistically significant link between calcium supplementation and the occurrence of preeclampsia. According to these findings, calcium supplementation has a substantial impact on preventing preeclampsia and is crucial in lowering the risk of preeclampsia in expectant mothers.

Abstract

Preeclampsia remains a major contributor to maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality, particularly in low- and middle-income countries where early detection at the primary healthcare level is often limited. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between maternal risk factors and the incidence of preeclampsia among third-trimester pregnant women at Tilamuta Primary Health Center. An analytical observational study with a cross-sectional design was conducted in 2025 involving 45 pregnant women selected using total sampling. Data were collected from antenatal care registers and maternal medical records. The independent variables included maternal age, gravidity, educational level, history of hypertension, and history of diabetes mellitus, while the dependent variable was the incidence of preeclampsia. Data analysis was performed using chi-square tests and logistic regression with a significance level of 0.05. The prevalence of preeclampsia in this study was 42.2%, indicating a high burden of hypertensive disorders during pregnancy. Maternal age and educational level were significantly associated with preeclampsia (p < 0.05). A history of hypertension showed a significant association with preeclampsia and remained the strongest independent predictor in multivariate analysis. In contrast, gravidity and history of diabetes mellitus were not significantly associated with preeclampsia. These findings highlight the importance of strengthening antenatal screening, particularly for women with pre-existing hypertension, to support early detection and prevention of preeclampsia at the primary healthcare level

Abstract

Hormonal contraceptives, particularly the 3-month injectable and implant methods, are widely used by women of reproductive age. Despite their effectiveness, concerns remain regarding their potential impact on hemoglobin (Hb) levels and the risk of anemia. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between the use of 3-month injectable contraceptives and implants with hemoglobin levels, as well as to examine the association between family support and hemoglobin status among women at Kedi Public Health Center. This study employed a quantitative descriptive design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 30 women of reproductive age who had used either 3-month injectable contraceptives or implants for at least six months. Data were obtained from medical records and laboratory measurements of hemoglobin levels. Univariate analysis was used to describe respondent characteristics, while bivariate analysis was conducted using Kendall’s tau-b correlation test. The results showed that most respondents were aged 20–35 years and predominantly used the 3-month injectable contraceptive. The majority of respondents (90.0%) had normal hemoglobin levels, while only 10.0% experienced mild anemia. A statistically significant relationship was found between family support and hemoglobin levels (p < 0.05). However, the use of hormonal contraceptive methods did not appear to negatively affect hemoglobin levels. In conclusion, 3-month injectable contraceptives and implants are safe in terms of hemoglobin status, and family support plays an important role in women’s health outcomes.

Abstract

Introduction: To address micronutrient deficiencies in pregnant women, the WHO, in updating its 2020 Antenatal Care (ANC) guidelines, recommends the provision of Multi-Micronutrient Supplements (MMS) to replace Iron Tablets (TTD). However, compliance with MMS consumption in pregnant women is still low. The level of education, knowledge, and family support are factors that influence the compliance of pregnant women in consuming MMS. Objective: To determine the relationship between the level of education, knowledge, and family support with compliance with MMS consumption in pregnant women in the Basarang Community Health Center working area. Materials and Methods: This study is an analytical observational study using a cross-sectional design. The sample was obtained using a total sampling technique of 96 pregnant women. The research instrument used a questionnaire on compliance, knowledge, and family support. Data analysis used the chi-square test. Results: Based on the results of the study, the majority of pregnant women were highly educated (62.5%) and had good knowledge (67.7%), lacked family support for pregnant women (68.8%), and were not compliant in consuming MMS (58.3%). After statistical tests were conducted, the results showed a significant relationship between education level and compliance with MMS consumption (p-value = 0.000), knowledge with compliance with MMS consumption (p-value = 0.009), and family support with compliance with MMS consumption (p-value = 0.004). Conclusion: Compliance of pregnant women in consuming MMS is still relatively low, and there is a relationship between education level, knowledge, and family support with compliance with MMS consumption in pregnant women in the Basarang Community Health Center work area. Therefore, to increase compliance with MMS consumption, it is recommended for families to remind pregnant women to consume MMS by collaborating with health workers to get education regarding the importance of MMS.

Abstract

Postpartum care is a strategic component of maternal health because the weeks after birth are associated with physical recovery, breastfeeding adaptation, psychological adjustment, and risk of preventable complications. Midwives are positioned to provide continuous, woman-centered care through clinical assessment, health education, breastfeeding support, early detection of danger signs, mental health screening, family engagement, and referral. This systematic literature review aimed to synthesize evidence on the role of midwives in improving postpartum maternal health. A structured search was conducted in PubMed, ScienceDirect, CINAHL, and Google Scholar for studies and guidelines published between 2020 and 2026. The review followed PRISMA 2020 reporting principles. Eligible sources discussed midwife-led, postnatal, postpartum, home-based, community-based, or continuity-of-care interventions involving postpartum women. The synthesis indicates that midwives contribute to improved postpartum health through five interrelated functions: continuity of care, complication surveillance, breastfeeding promotion, psychosocial support, and health-system coordination. Evidence consistently shows that respectful, timely, and individualized midwifery care strengthens maternal confidence, improves care-seeking behavior, supports exclusive breastfeeding, and facilitates early referral. The review implies that postpartum programs should integrate midwives as primary care coordinators supported by standardized guidelines, digital follow-up, interprofessional referral pathways, and culturally responsive family involvement.

Abstract

Anemia among adolescent girls remains a major public health problem because it affects growth, cognitive capacity, learning productivity, and future maternal health. Iron-folic acid tablet supplementation, commonly implemented through schools, is one of the most widely recommended strategies to prevent and reduce anemia in menstruating adolescents. This systematic review aimed to synthesize recent evidence on the effectiveness of iron-folic acid tablet programs in reducing anemia among adolescent girls and to identify implementation factors that influence program outcomes. A structured literature search was conducted in PubMed, Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, and relevant institutional databases for studies published between 2020 and 2026. Articles were selected using predefined eligibility criteria and synthesized narratively following the PRISMA 2020 approach. The reviewed evidence indicates that iron-folic acid supplementation can increase hemoglobin concentration, reduce anemia prevalence, and improve anemia-related knowledge when supported by regular distribution, adherence monitoring, nutrition education, and school-health collaboration. However, effectiveness is frequently limited by low compliance, fear of side effects, poor understanding of anemia, irregular tablet supply, and weak monitoring systems. The review concludes that tablet supplementation is effective, but its public health impact depends on implementation quality and sustained behavioral support.
