Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease caused by infection with the bacterium Mycobacteria tuberculosis (M.TB). Pulmonary TB cases continue to increase every year. Patients with Pulmonary TB often experience in the respiratory tract, this disorder can inhibit daily activities and even have the potential to be life-threatening if not treated appropriately. One of the ways used to overcome this disorder is the Active Cycle of Breathing Technique, which can help control breathing patterns to become more regular. Analysis of Nursing Care in Pulmonary TB Patients with the Application of Active Cycle of Breathing Technique Therapy to Overcome Ineffective Airway Clearance in Pulmonary Tuberculosis Patients. The design used is analytical descriptive research. This research technique was by measuring breathing and oxygen saturation before the application of ACBT, then respondents were given an active cycle breathing technique intervention and evaluated after 5 minutes. Each respondent was given ACBT intervention 1 time a day for 3 consecutive days for 15 minutes. This case study showed an increase in airway clearance disorders after the application of active cycle of breathing therapy in the three respondents with a decrease in respiratory frequency. Active cycle therapy of brething technique improves airway clearance is ineffective in patients with Pulmonary TB. Suggestion: Active cycle of brething respiratory therapy can be one of the non-pharmacological therapies to reduce airway clearance disorders in pulmonary TB patients.

Abstract

Background: Duration of labor is a key determinant of childbirth outcomes and may influence the mother’s physiological and psychological state. Prolonged labor is often associated with increased maternal fatigue and emotional stress, which can delay the establishment of early maternal-infant bonding during the taking-hold period. Methods: This study employed a cross-sectional design with a quantitative approach. A total of 80 postpartum women who delivered vaginally at hospitals and maternity clinics were recruited through purposive sampling. Data were collected using an observation sheet for labor duration and the Maternal Postnatal Attachment Scale (MPAS). Statistical analysis was performed using Pearson’s correlation test with a significance level of p < 0.05. Results: The findings revealed a significant negative correlation between labor duration and maternal-infant bonding scores (r = -0.432; p = 0.002). Mothers who experienced labor longer than 12 hours demonstrated lower emotional closeness with their infants compared to those with shorter labor (<8 hours). Conclusion: Prolonged labor tends to hinder the development of early maternal-infant bonding. Emotional support and midwifery assistance during the labor process are essential to enhance bonding and psychological well-being in the postpartum period.

Abstract

Bell's palsy is an acute peripheral neuropathy of the facial nerve (N. VII) characterized by sudden unilateral facial weakness without a clear cause, which can cause facial motor function disorders and have an impact on the patient's psychosocial aspects. Physiotherapy management in the acute phase is necessary to aid the recovery of neuromuscular function and prevent complications. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of physiotherapy management in patients with acute left Bell's palsy. The research method used a case study design on a 23-year-old female patient diagnosed with acute left Bell's palsy. Examinations were conducted using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS), Ugo Fisch Scale, and Manual Muscle Testing (MMT). Physiotherapy intervention was given for 3 weeks with a frequency of twice a week (6 sessions) in the form of infrared (IR), massage, mirror exercise, and electrical stimulation (ES) using IDC current, with evaluation at each therapy session. The results showed a decrease in pain from NRS 4/10 to 0/10 and an increase in facial muscle strength based on MMT from a score of 0 to 4 in several muscles, especially the orbicularis oculi muscle. The Ugo Fisch Scale assessment also showed improvement in the ability to close the eyes and several other facial movements. These findings indicate that the combination of physiotherapy interventions in the acute phase has the potential to help improve neuromuscular activation and facial muscle function, thereby potentially aiding in recovery.

Abstract

If pregnant women's dietary needs are not met, pregnancy problems may arise, leading to diseases in both the mother and the fetus. The fetus's development can be impacted by the mother's nutritional state both before and throughout pregnancy. In other words, the mother's nutritional state both before and throughout pregnancy has a significant impact on the unborn child. The purpose of this study is to ascertain how pregnant women's dietary demands and knowledge relate to one another. This kind of study uses a cross-sectional study design and is quantitative in nature. With a sample size of thirty respondents, this study employed a complete sampling approach. The Chi-Square statistical test was employed in the study's data analysis. Pregnant women in the Lahei II Community Health Center's work area have dietary requirements and knowledge (p-value = 0.000), according to the research. Muara Lahei District, Central Kalimantan's North Barito Regency, Central Kalimantan. The implications of this study highlight the need for targeted interventions to enhance maternal nutrition knowledge, ultimately promoting better health outcomes for both mothers and their babies.

Abstract

The third trimester of pregnancy is a critical phase that is often accompanied by increased anxiety due to concerns about the delivery process, the safety of the mother and fetus, and readiness to take on the role of mother. Anxiety that is not managed properly can have a negative impact on the psychological well-being of the mother and the delivery process. Music therapy is a non-pharmacological intervention that is considered safe, easy to implement, and has the potential to reduce anxiety in pregnant women. This study aims to analyze the effect of music therapy on the anxiety levels of pregnant women in the third trimester. This study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design. The study sample consisted of 20 pregnant women in their third trimester who were selected using purposive sampling at a community health center. Anxiety levels were measured before and after the intervention using a standardized anxiety questionnaire. The intervention consisted of relaxing instrumental music therapy administered for approximately 20–30 minutes in comfortable conditions. Data analysis was performed using univariate and bivariate analysis with the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test at a significance level of p < 0.05. The results showed that before the intervention, most respondents were in the moderate to severe anxiety category, whereas after music therapy, severe anxiety was no longer found and there was an increase in the proportion of mild anxiety. The Wilcoxon test showed a statistically significant difference between anxiety levels before and after the intervention (p = 0.000). In conclusion, music therapy has a significant effect in reducing anxiety levels in third trimester pregnant women and has the potential to be an effective non-pharmacological intervention to be integrated into antenatal care.

Abstract

Anemia during pregnancy remains a public health problem in many countries, including Indonesia, especially among pregnant women in their third trimester who have increased physiological needs for iron and supporting nutrients. Maternal nutritional status is one of the factors that influence the incidence of anemia, one of which can be measured through Mid-Upper Arm Circumference (MUAC) as a simple indicator of the body's energy and protein reserves. This study aims to determine the relationship between LISA and the incidence of anemia in third-trimester pregnant women in the working area of the Margasari Community Health Center (UPTD Puskesmas Margasari). This study used an observational analytical design with a cross-sectional approach. A sample of 30 third-trimester pregnant women was selected using purposive sampling. LISA measurements were taken using a non-elastic measuring tape, while anemia status was determined based on hemoglobin levels using WHO standards. Data analysis was performed using Fisher's Exact Test with a significance level of 0.05. The results showed a higher proportion of anemia in pregnant women with LISA < 23.5 cm compared to the group of women with LISA ≥ 23.5 cm. Statistical tests showed a significant relationship between LILA and the incidence of anemia (p = 0.004). The conclusion of this study is that maternal nutritional status based on LILA measurements is significantly related to the incidence of anemia in third trimester pregnant women. The LILA indicator can be used as an early screening tool in antenatal care services to prevent the risk of anemia and pregnancy complications.

Abstract

Surgical site infection (SSI) is a postoperative complication that can increase morbidity, length of hospital stay, and treatment costs. Prophylactic antibiotics are the primary preventive measure, but their effectiveness is greatly influenced by the timeliness, type, and duration of administration. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between prophylactic antibiotic administration and the incidence of SSI in post-obstetric and gynecological surgery patients at H. Badaruddin Kasim Tanjung Regional Hospital. The study used an observational analytical design with a cross-sectional approach and involved 35 respondents through a total sampling technique. Data were obtained from medical records regarding the time, type, dose, redosing, and duration of antibiotic administration, along with the incidence of SSI. Statistical analysis used the Chi-square and Fisher Exact tests. The results showed that the timeliness of antibiotic administration was significantly associated with the incidence of SSI, while the type of antibiotic and the duration of postoperative administration did not show a significant relationship. All respondents received the correct dose and did not require intraoperative redosing. This study concluded that timeliness is a key factor determining the effectiveness of antibiotic prophylaxis in preventing SSI, while variations in the type and duration of administration did not have a significant effect. These findings emphasize the importance of improving adherence to antibiotic dosing standards in obstetric and gynecological surgical practice to strengthen infection prevention efforts.
