Abstract

Abstract Hindu Religious Education and Character Education play a strategic role in shaping students' spiritual and moral character. The Independent Curriculum demands adaptive learning through a process differentiation approach, but its implementation at SMP Negeri 1 Bangli faces challenges such as differences in student learning readiness, limited resources, and diverse teacher abilities. This descriptive qualitative study employed field research and a phenomenological approach, collecting data through observation, interviews, and document studies. The theoretical basis used Vygotsky's Zone of Proximal Development and Carl Rogers' humanistic theory, which supports the differentiation of the learning process. Results indicate positive implementation, with increased student motivation, engagement, and understanding of religious values. Key challenges include large class sizes, diverse teacher abilities, limited time and resources, and insufficient parental support. The study recommends strengthening teacher competencies, providing adequate resources, parent outreach, and developing a collaborative school culture. Keywords: Process differentiation, active learning, project-based learning

Abstract

This paper examines the role of teachers in shaping students' spiritual habits through theapplication of behavioristic principles in Hindu Religious Education (PAH) which includesformal (school), non-formal (pasraman), and online-offline learning. The main objective is toidentify how stimulus-response and reinforcement can be designed operationally to strengthenspiritual habits such as ritual discipline, empathy, tolerance, and dharma attitudes in students'daily lives, while nurturing Hindu cultural values (Tri Kaya Parisudha and Sad Dharma).Conceptual methods are used to formulate a behavior-based instructional design framework, followed by multidimensional evaluation guidelines (cognitive, affective, psychomotor) that linkritual actions to learning consequences. Practically, the role of teachers includes (a) being a rolemodel and facilitator of reflection through consistent feedback; (b) designing explicit stimuli(tattwa, morality, events) that are combined with positive reinforcement (rewards, roles, certificates) and educational reinforcement (explanation of action consequences); and (c)integrating instructional designs such as blended learning, behavior-oriented problem-basedapproaches (PBL), and multidimensional rubric-based evaluations. This writing contributes tothe development of PAH learning models that are more systematic, dharma-value-oriented, andculturally and globally relevant.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the process of the Melasti Wewalen Barong Ceremony tradition in enhancing the character development of students within the Pancasila Student Profile (P3) at SMP Negeri 1 Bangli. The background of this research is based on the need for a contextual, local wisdom-based character education model, in line with the implementation of the Pancasila Student Profile in the national education system. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study design. The object of the study is the process of the Melasti Wewalen Barong Ceremony tradition, which is institutionally implemented at SMP Negeri 1 Bangli. Data collection techniques were carried out through participatory observation, in-depth interviews with the principal, teachers, traditional leaders/stakeholders, and students, and documentation studies. Data analysis was conducted thematically through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results show that the Melasti Wewalen Barong Ceremony tradition plays a significant role in developing student character, encompassing the six dimensions of the Pancasila Student Profile: faith and devotion to God Almighty, global diversity, mutual cooperation, independence, critical thinking, and creativity. Character development occurs through planning, implementation, supervision, organization, and leadership, involving active student participation. This tradition serves not only as a religious ritual but also as a medium for experiential character education and the instillation of values. This research has theoretical significance in enriching studies of local culture-based character education and practical significance as a model for integrating local traditions in strengthening the Pancasila Student Profile in formal education.
