Abstract

Leprosy is a chronic contagious disease caused by the mycobacterium leprae bacteria which attacks the skin and peripheral nerves. This disease can cause physical disabilities if not treated properly. Physical disabilities that appear can cause psychological problems such as anxiety. The purpose of this study was to analyze the level of anxiety in patients with leprosy based on respondents' demographic characteristics. This type of research is analytic observational with a cross-sectional research design. The sample in this study were 106 leprosy patients, with the accidental sampling technique. Data collection using a questionnaire consisted of demographic characteristics, namely age, gender, occupational education, degree of disability, and the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS) questionnaire. Data analysis used the chi-square statistical test.  Results Age, employment, education, and patients' disability degree were associated with patient anxiety (p-value <0.05), while gender was not associated with patient anxiety (p-value> 0.05). Conclusion The variables of age, education, employment, and patients disability degree can affect anxiety in leprosy patients.

Abstract

Refraction abnormalities are the second most common cause of limited vision after cataracts and being a health problem around the world, including Indonesia. Vision is the main factor of information input and learning process. Vision ability develops optimally until the age of 9 years, delays in refraction correction can cause reduced ability to absorb learning material and further will have an impact on learning achievement. However in pandemic era, learning system is turn into online system. Another factor that affects it is nutritional status, a body state caused by a balanced nutrient intake and needs. This study aims to prove the theory of the effect of refractive errors, nutritional status, on learning achievement. A cross-sectional design that linked refractive errors (myopia, hypermetropia, astigmatism) and nutritional status to learning achievement in elementary school student. The sample consisted of 26 students in grades 3-6. The refractive spearman test with learning achievement got a significance value of 0.733(p>0.05), while nutritional status and learning achievement has a significance value of 0.679(p>0.05) which means there are no meaningful relationship in both variable with learning achievement. Multivariate analysis was not performed because of the bivariate analysis were not significant. There was no correlation between students’ refractive abnormality and nutritional status with their learning achievement in pandemic era.

Abstract

Menopause is the natural end of the menstrual cycle which results in decreased estrogen (hypoestrogen) levels. The number of free radicals can increase due to decreased estrogen as a natural antioxidant in the body. The effect of increasing free radicals can be reduced by consuming antioxidants. Cempaka flower (Michelia champaca L) contains flavonoids which function as antioxidants. Materials and methods: proved a relationship between blood MDA levels and aortic foam cells in menopausal wistar rats treated with Cempaka flower extract. Research Methods: using experimental design with post test only control group design approach. The sample used 24 female rats (Rattus novergicus strain Wistar) with a menopausal age (450-540 days). Reasult: The normality assumption test with Saphiro Wilk obtained a p-value of 0.537 more than α = 0.05 (p> 0.05). The homogeneity test of variance with the Levene test obtained a p-value of 0.271 more than 0.05 (p> 0.05). Testing the effect of giving Cempaka flower extract on MDA levels using ANOVA obtained a p-value of 0.000 smaller than α = 0.05 (p <0.05). There was a significant difference in MDA levels due to the administration of cempaka flower extract at different doses. Testing the effect of giving Cempaka flower extract on the number of foam cells with the Kruskal-Wallis test obtained a p-value of 0.004, smaller than α = 0.05 (p <0.05). There is a significant difference in the number of foam cells due to the administration of Cempaka Flower extract with different doses. Testing the correlation between MDA levels and the number of foam cells used the Spearman correlation test with a correlation coefficient of 0.380 and a p-value of 0.067. P-value more than 0.05 (p> 0.05). Conclusion: There is a significant effect of giving Cempaka flower extract on blood MDA levels and aortic foam cells of menopausal wistar rats. There was no significant relationship between blood MDA levels and the number of aortic foam cells.

Abstract

Background: Patients after undergoing arthroplasty surgery will experience several changes in carrying out functional activities and daily routines. This is due to altered joint and muscle function due to decreased strength and limited range of motion after arthroplasty surgery. Post-hip arthroplasty conditions require comprehensive treatment so as not to cause impairment/disability that will interfere with function and gait. How effective is the early postoperative exercise program in preventing further decline in ability and speeding recovery? Methods: This exercise program is given since the patient has finished surgery and is gradually progressing to standing and walking exercises. This research was conducted on patients in the inpatient room of RS Ortopedi Prof. Dr. R. Soeharso Surakarta. Assessment and evaluation of post-hip arthroplasty results using the Harris Hip Score functional index before and after being given an exercise program. Results: The statistical test showed that the data was not normally distributed (p<0.05) and the results of the influence test using the Wilcoxon Test showed that there was an effect of early postoperative exercise on reducing pain (p=0.005) and increasing the Harris Hip Score (HHS) index. The result of the action is that there is an increase in functional ability in post-hip arthroplasty patients. Conclusion: Based on this study, it can be concluded that the program of giving exercise therapy as early as possible in post-hip arthroplasty patients can accelerate recovery and improve functional ability.
