Abstract

Background: As we get older, the ability to balance the body is decreased, which will cause health problems because the risk of falling increases. The effective exercise is needed for the elderly to maintain and improve their ability to balance the body. Aims: This study aims to determine the effectiveness of adding dynamic stretching exercise to the balance strategy exercise in improving balance in the elderly. Participants and Methods: This study was a randomized control trial with a total number of 24 elderly as subjects who were selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria which were then divided into 2 groups. Group 1 was given dynamic stretching exercise and balance strategy exercise, and group 2 was given balance strategy exercise only. Exercise is done 3 times a week for 6 weeks. Results: The results of data analysis using the Paired Sample T-test showed that the results of p<0.05 indicated that there was a significant increase in the BBS score before and after exercise. The Independent T-test on the BBS score after exercise showed a p<0.05 which indicated that there was a significant difference in the post-test BBS scores between groups 1 and 2, where group 1 experienced a higher increasement of BBS score in balance compared to group 2. Conclusion: Based on the results of data analysis, the addition of dynamic stretching exercise to balance strategy exercise is more effective in improving balance in the elderly compared to balance strategy exercise only.

Abstract

Pregnancy can have a positive or negative effect on a woman's life in her reproductive cycle. Evaluation of the quality of life of pregnant women can aim to improve the effectiveness of health services. Stress in the form of high anxiety in pregnant women can affect the pattern of fetal heart rate. The aim is to describe the effect of early stimulation of fetal growth and development on the quality of life of pregnant women and fetal heart rate. The research was carried out in September 2021 - May 2022 with locations in two Community Health Centers. Type of quasi-experimental research (before and after with control experiment design). The sampling technique was purposive with a total of 30 divided into two groups. Data analysis with ANACOVA. The quality of life score of the experimental group was 22.99 points higher than the control group (b = 22.99; 95% CI; 20.56 to 25.41; p < 0.001). Adjusted R2 = 95.2%. And the experimental group had a fetal heart rate score 0.14 points higher than the control group (b = 0.14; 95% CI; -0.03 to 0.32; p < 0.001). Adjusted R2 = 43.9% by controlling for the level of formal education and the score before treatment. The conclusion is that there is an effect of early stimulation of fetal growth and development on the quality of life of pregnant women and fetal heart rate.

Abstract

In children aged 9-12, reduced bone density, length of schooling, duration of daily bag use and bag weight exceeding the recommended weight of 10-15% of body weight can affect changes in the vertebral curve either into kyphosis, lordosis or scoliosis. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between bag load and changes in the vertebral curve as measured by the plumb line and scoliometer. The load of the bag is seen from 2 things, namely the weight of the bag and the duration of use of the bag. The research method used a cross sectional study with a sample of 207 school children aged 9-12 years using 2 analytical tests. The results of the Kendall's tau-b analysis test showed p-value = 0.773 and 0.262 (>0.005) which showed that there was no relationship between the weight and duration of bag use and changes in the vertebral curve. The results of the Spearman Rho test analysis showed p-value = 0.448 and 0.407 (> 0.005) which showed no relationship between weight and duration of bag use with the degree of change in the vertebral curve (Angle of Trunk Rotation/ATR).

Abstract

The literature review has the aim of reviewing and comparing the similarities of several research results regarding the factors that influence the occurrence of low birth weight babies and their management methods in several hospitals in Indonesia. Literature review method with this study was carried out by conducting a literature review by searching several national journals. Literature search using several keywords, namely "low birthweight (LBW)", "infants", "management of LBW" for 10 literature publications from 2012-2022. Article searches used Sciencedirect, Garuda Portal, Mendeley and Google Scholar for articles with quantitative and qualitative designs. Results Of the ten articles stated that LBW occurs not only in premature babies but normal babies can also experience LBW. LBW is not only influenced by the mother's knowledge but other factors such as nutrition, pregnancy interval, age, parity, lifestyle, and pregnancy complications. Discussion and Conclusion: Here the role of health workers and parents in handling LBW is very important without having to be expensive and can be done at home so that it can help increase LBW with exclusive breastfeeding, prevent hypothermia, prevent infection and keep the baby healthy so that stunting does not occur.
