Abstract

This paper explores the optimization of train ratios for peak and off-peak hours in the Jaipur Metro. The study focuses on the impact of overtaking strategies, where fast trains overtake slow trains at specific locations. Six models were developed, analyzing various overtaking scenarios in terms of location and frequency. The models considered key factors like cycle time (time between consecutive trains), waiting time at stations, and passenger arrival rates during peak and non-peak hours. The analysis revealed that strategic overtaking can significantly reduce passenger waiting times, especially during peak hours. Additionally, it allows for more frequent train services without compromising travel times. Stations with high congestion can benefit from increased fast train ratios during peak times to manage passenger flow efficiently. These findings offer valuable insights for railway planners in the Jaipur Metro. The data-driven approach allows for optimizing train operations and improving passenger experience by reducing waiting times. Moreover, strategic overtaking enhances network efficiency by maximizing capacity utilization during peak hours. The paper concludes by highlighting the potential for further research, including exploring more complex modeling approaches and integrating the findings with existing scheduling software for implementation. By continuously optimizing train operations, the Jaipur Metro can provide a reliable, efficient, and comfortable public transportation system for its users.

Abstract

Inspection and maintenance of infrastructure to maintain service life and to restore the function of railway components to match the replacement plan and ensure the feasibility and reliability of the MRT Jakarta operating system as planned. The priority scale of permanent way maintenance using the Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) method, especially on elevated lines, will be obtained for effective and efficient railway maintenance planning. With quartile calculations based on the criticality value of the first priority results, namely the location of the road or the Fatmawati Station - Cipete Raya Station corridor with a value of 41, the second priority on the Lebak Bulus Station - Fatmawati Station corridor with a value of 38, the third priority on the Cipete raya Station - Haji Nawi Station corridor with a value of 37, the fourth priority on the Blok A - Blok M Station corridor with a value of 36, the fifth priority on the haji Nawi - Blok A Station corridor with a value of 34, and on the sixth priority on the Blok M - ASEAN Station corridor with a total value of 29.

Abstract

Light Rail Transit (LRT Jabodebek) is a light rail train that serves 2 operational crossings, namely cibubur Line and Bekasi Line. The problem that occurs in Jabodebek LRT is abnormal wheel flange wear. This problem will have an impact on the wheel life to be shorter. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the cross that has the most influence on the wear rate of the Jabodebek LRT wheel flange and find out when turning will be carried out. The flange measurement data obtained from daily and monthly maintenance data will be analyzed using the simple linear regression method. The value of flange wear caused by Lintas Harjamukti-Dukuh Atas of 0.00285 mm in one trip is greater than Lintas Jatimulya-Dukuh Atas of 0.001295 mm. While trainset 1 will be turned after traveling 117,962 km or 3944 trips, trainset 2 will be turned after traveling 74,061 or 2424 trips, trainset 13 will be turned after traveling 237,295 km or 7908 trips, trainset 18 will be turned after traveling 85,911 km or 2707 trips. Therefore, the Harjamukti-Dukuh Atas section has a greater influence on the wear that occurs compared to the Jatimulya-Dukuh Atas section.

Abstract

This study elaborates the re-iterative, trial & error procedure adapted to reduce the excessive consumption of balancing weights in the railway wheel sets during wheel set assembling. The process involved MATLAB programming for dynamic balancing equations and CAD simulations to arrive at the solution. On the completion of the study and implementation of findings, the reduction in the consumption of balancing weight by 95.9% has been realized.

Abstract

This research develops and tests an innovative tool called ASLA (Automated Signal Light Brightness Adjustment) designed to automatically adjust the brightness of train signal lights based on environmental conditions such as light intensity, rain, and fog. The main purpose of this tool is to reduce the waste of electrical energy caused by using lights with constant brightness intensity all the time. An experimental method is used in this research, where tests are conducted by measuring important variables such as light intensity, current, voltage, and LED brightness. It uses sensor fusion techniques to combine data from various sensors, such as LDRs, rain sensors, and gas sensors, to obtain accurate environmental information. The test results showed that the ASLA tool successfully reduced power consumption from 2.37W to 2.24W, contributing to electricity savings. In addition, the variation of LED power decreased to less than 0.2W under certain weather conditions. This research proves that ASLA functions optimally by increasing the efficiency of electrical energy use in train signal lights.
