Abstract

Doctrine of the church in the context of ecclesiology, focusing on several important aspects. First, the definition of church doctrine is explained as the study of the identity, function, and role of the church as the body of Christ, emphasizing that the church is not merely a physical building, but a community of believers united in faith. Next, the history and development of the church are outlined, demonstrating how the church has adapted to various challenges and social changes, including the emergence of different denominations that contribute to the understanding of ecclesiology today. The discussion also highlights the importance of doctrine for the spiritual life of the congregation, where doctrine serves as a theological foundation that influences faith growth, the formation of Christian character, and provides relevant moral guidance. Additionally, this paper identifies the challenges faced by the church in the modern era, such as secularism, religious pluralism, and social change, which require the church to remain relevant and responsive to contemporary issues.

Apart from that, behavior and thinking are chaotic, causing commotion or quarrels which result in victims. This is part of the abuse of alcoholic drinks among local congregations and continues to increase from year to year. Abstract

A person's religious experience is a very individual inner matter. Everyone experiences a spiritual experience that brings maturity in practicing the religion they believe in. In Indonesia, there are still religious conversions. This is because there are inner conflicts and conflicting feelings that result in turmoil that originates from the problems of faith faced. Religious conversion can be experienced by anyone. As experienced by AW, the conversion from Christianity to Islam. Starting from the interpretation of the understanding of divinity based on the philosophy of Divinity. This happened when AW continued his Strata-3 education. The purpose of this study is that the researcher wants to know how Mr. AW uses philosophy to question and criticize the beliefs and values of Christianity until he has an interpretation of Christian teachings about God. In this study, the author uses a qualitative method with a case study approach. Where the author collects data by interviewing participants as a source of information. In addition to interviews, literature related to religious conversion is also used. Thus, the results of this study are expected to provide researchers with the reasons for AW's conversion. Recommend that religious leaders and congregations be wary of all religious philosophies. Spiritual leaders and parents can protect their congregations or children from understanding philosophical teachings that influence and shake Christian faith. There needs to be serious faith formation in the congregation to strengthen their faith and answer the challenges of understanding that can destroy Christian faith.

Abstract

Religious conflicts in Indonesia still occur to this day even though Indonesia is known as a plural country. There are still claims that the teachings of one religion are better than other religions. In this study, the author discusses the concept of the Trinity in Christianity and Trimurti in Hinduism, and the implications of both concepts for inter-religious harmony. The Trinity, consisting of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, is the core of Christianity that emphasises unity and diversity in one God. The Trimurti consisting of Brahma (Creator), Vishnu (Sustainer), and Shiva (Destroyer) describes different aspects of God in Hinduism. Analyses were conducted using a religio-cultural approach to understand how these two concepts can complement or contradict each other. The research shows that although there are fundamental differences in the understanding of divinity between Christianity and Hinduism, there are also common points that can be used as a basis for interfaith dialogue. This research provides theological insights and practical solutions to create social harmony.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the challenges and opportunities in the role of Catholic religious instructors related to religious moderation in the Riau Islands Province. Religious moderation has become a crucial issue in maintaining social harmony amidst the pluralism of Indonesian society. The Riau Islands Province, with its diversity of religions and ethnicities, presents unique dynamics in the context of tolerance and coexistence. Catholic religious instructors play an important role in promoting the values of moderation, tolerance, and interreligious dialogue, but they face various challenges, such as limited resources, skills, and policy support. This research employs a qualitative method with a case study approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with Catholic religious instructors, religious leaders, and local communities, as well as document analysis of related religious policies in the region. The study results indicate that the main challenges faced by Catholic religious instructors include limited access to training on religious moderation, and insufficient infrastructure and logistical support in remote areas. On the other hand, there are significant opportunities to strengthen the role of Catholic religious instructors, particularly through interreligious collaboration and increasing understanding of religious moderation values relevant to the local context. The study suggests the need to enhance the competence of religious instructors through continuous training, and to increase synergy between the government and religious institutions to facilitate dialogue and cooperation among religious communities. In this way, the role of Catholic religious instructors can be optimized to support religious moderation and create harmonious religious life in the Riau Islands Province.

Abstract

The fifth commandment in the Ten Commandments, "Honor your father and your mother," found in Exodus 20:12, remains relevant in modern life despite the various social, cultural, and technological changes society has undergone. This research employs a qualitative literature approach to explore the meaning and significance of honoring parents in contemporary contexts. An analysis of theological, sociological, and Christian ethical literature demonstrates that honoring parents is not only a religious obligation but also contributes positively to the well-being of families and communities. This value helps maintain intergenerational relationships, strengthens family bonds, and supports social stability. In the modern era, challenges such as individualism, globalization, and technological advancement often affect the interactions between children and parents. Nevertheless, the essence of respect as a moral and social responsibility remains significant. This study also highlights how the principle of honoring can be adapted to modern conditions without losing its original meaning. Such respect encompasses care, attention, and appreciation, which continue to be relevant in contemporary contexts.

Abstract

The history of Christianity in Asia encompasses various aspects, including its origins, development, and the dynamics of the Church in a continent rich in cultural diversity and traditions. Christianity first entered Asia in the first century through trade routes and the missions of the apostles, spreading rapidly in regions such as Mesopotamia, Persia, and South India. Despite facing significant challenges, such as interactions with major religions like Hinduism, Buddhism, and Islam, as well as complex social and political influences, the Christian Church continued to develop. During the colonial era, European missions provided a new impetus for the spread of Christianity in Asia, though it was often linked with foreign dominance, triggering resistance from local communities. However, the Christian Church in Asia managed to adapt to local cultures and traditions, creating unique expressions of faith in each country or community. This diversity resulted in a unique dynamic within the Church, where Christianity not only survived but thrived despite ongoing social, political, and cultural challenges. In addition to exploring theological and historical aspects, this article also discusses the contributions of the Christian Church in Asia to education, healthcare, and social justice, which played a significant role in shaping social structures and improving the well-being of society. In the modern era, churches in Asia face new challenges such as globalization, religious pluralism, and social change, yet they continue to play an important role in society, both spiritually and socially. Overall, this article portrays Christianity in Asia as an integral part of the continent's history and development, continually adapting to changing times while making significant contributions to society, all while maintaining the core values of its teachings.
