Abstract

This paper explores the importance of equality in education for women and men. Through historical text review of scholars works in Islamic world from the stories in sahabah era until now in Indonesian era, the writer found that scholars and society’s view about access to education for women as well as women involvement as leaders in political field were varied and dynamic. In part of Islamic history women often perceived as the second class of society while has not equal access to education and self development compared to men. The writer was then elaborated the discussion to Indonesian context. The study concluded that women should be liberated from any kind of oppressions so that they could improve their self potentials. Public policies should be performed to make it possible for women to become experts in their social, politics, and cultural roles besides and together with men.

Abstract

Grouping Arabic nouns into kinds of mudzakkar and muannats often become the source of gender biases understanding. Such classification is one of the characteristics of the Arabic language which is different from any other languages. With the existence of the classification, it is understood that the Arabic language provide strict distinction between sex differences. Gender bias in the Arabic language is very interesting to be examined not to denigrate the language, but to understand what exactly is a gender bias in the Arabic language so that we do not get trapped in the wrong understanding and seem condescending. This study concluded that when we examined more deeply, the mudzakar and muannats characteristics that exist in Arabic language give uniqueness and richness meaning that may not be found in other languages.

Abstract

This research has been done to reveal the gender bias in text books of Islamic and Christian religious educationas as the basis for promoting gender concept religious education factually. These findings show that the text books of Islamic and Christian religious, which are learnt by students nowadays, are found only a little value of gender norm. Because of this, it is necessary for the religious education lessons are to be revised and implemented the comprehension of gender bias by professional teacher. This is as the innovative movement of religious education about equality and equity of women and men in the access of economic, social, cultural and political activities.

Abstract

This article contains the explanation of gender discourse in thinking development of Islamic education, and it is found some problems of injustice that are needed the right solutions to overcome them. The fundamental problem of gender on the level of epistemology-methodology to develop the islamic education on the basis of this gender is to reconstruct them in the epistemology aspect of islamic education. The educators and learners need to change their paradigm and mindset of sensitive gender. This article is also has explanation of methodology of Islamic education on the basis of integration approaches, normative, historical and intuitive approaches to respond some gender issues in learning process.

Abstract

Gender is the difference of men and women in the role, function, right, responsibility and behavior which is made by social and cultural value, and tradition. Gender bias is the circumstance that indicates male attitude more than female. This article is intended to determine gender bias in the book of Arabic class X that is written and based on a scientific approach as the curriculum characteristic in 2013. Student Books which are used as the principal teaching materials by their teacher, are very important in supporting the learning process.The findings of data analysis show that it has still been happening gender bias in the book in the form of pictures and texts.

Abstract

The issue of gender is an issue that often be discussed in all aspects of life, including Islamic education. The term of gender is not only for women, but also for men. In fact, women are in marginalized position, so this discussion is much more for woman autorities. On the other hand, men that are reputed as persons who have higher levels in several aspects of life. The marginalized position of women is expected to encourage mindset changes in various segments of social life. Gender is determined by several factors, created, and socialized, and implemented by means of social and religion. Islamic education in Indonesia is provided for all citizens. This article is as the explanation of the role of gender of Islamic education in Indonesia.

Abstract

The concept of equality of men and women or feminism concept offered by the West, and it can not be accepted by most people, especially the Muslim community. This is because the legitimacy of religious dogma, which is unbalanced and disposed to the side with men, which is adopted by most Muslims, has been going on up to now. The concept of equality between men and women are expected by Islam can be obtained by further examining the guidelines of Islam (Al-Quran and Al-Hadis). The concept of equality that is desired by Islam, that is inspired from the equation in terms of creation, function and position in the world and freedom of tawheed and worship to the God among men and women

Abstract

The Children traditional games exactly is media that contains high values about the similarity of gender, such as equality value, cooperation value, recoqnition value, tolerance value, dan justice value. The values of gender similarity have ideally been given to the children since childhood. There are three steps of value process of gender similarity in the children traditional games; First, the step of value transformation is to send good information. Second, the step of value transaction is the value education. Third, steps of transinternalization is the application in daily activities.

Abstract

The term scholars, often associated with men. Though not denying the existence of women religious figures in Islamic history. Therefore, efforts to uncover side-scholars of women’s studies should be developed. This article discusses the thinking Ny. Hj. Nok Suyami and their work in the community. This qualitative research study life story that includes the source data obtained through interviews with domain analysis in Temanggung. This study concludes that the figure Hj. Nok Suyami qualify to be called as scholars’ because of some fundamental things inherent in him. Namely: (1) a qualified religious science capacity, (2) academic progression, (3) high human social life, (4) the ability to adapt to a good society, and (5) personal that is recognized by the society.

Abstract

‘NU’ that is an Islamic organization in Indonesia is the largest organization in terms of quantity (number of followers). This can be seen from the followers. There is a amount of 56% of the population of the Islamic religion in Indonesia, or 88,7% of the total populations of Indonesia, or there is a amount of 237,7 millions of Indonesian people. The women’s movement of NU, Muslimat and Fatayat NU, are the largest Muslim organization in Indonesia. Education in Islamic Boarding School (pesantren) as, reading ‘Kitab Kuning’ with teaching methods of ‘sorogan’ and ‘bandongan’ are often held in NU pesantren. Fatayat and Muslimat have been being active in the Indonesian political movements since Indonesian independence. This study is the explanation of their social movements which have been being done by them in several countries. Their particular social movements that have been done, are religious movements.
