Abstract

Energy is the initial driving source in the automotive field. Where in the automotive world there is renewable energy such as hydrogen gas. Hydrogen gas is a gas-shaped fuel that has the characteristics of colorless, tasteless, and odorless. Hydrogen gas can be produced by electrolysis of water (H2O). Where the electrolyte solution will be reacted using an electric current to produce hydrogen (H2) gas and oxygen gas (O). This study uses experimental research methods to determine the effect of variations in the number of electrode plates on the electrolizer on the volume and rate of HHO gas production using a measuring cup. The results showed that the effect of the variation in the number of electrode plates on the electrolyzer to the highest HHO gas volume occurred in the variation of 14 electrode plates with an increase of 33%. While for the highest gas production rate occurs in the variation of 14 electrode plates with an increase of 36%.

Abstract

This gas comes from the mixing of liquid waste oil and cow dung, liquid waste oil and animal waste into energy that can be utilized through the process of anaerobic digestion. Making biogas from waste oil, especially oil and cow effluent has the potential as an environmentally friendly alternative energy, because in addition to utilizing waste oil and cattle, the rest of the biogas production in the form of slurry can be used as organic fertilizer rich in elements which are needed by plants. biogas very much. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of mixing liquid waste oil and cow dung on the length of time the process of biogas and the color of the flame. Testing of this study using a gouge and medium pressure gas stove. In the biogas test results on day 10 but not significant, after day 15 to 20 days there was an increase in the reaction to the occurrence of biogas. For the color of the flame produced, the color of the flame was blue.

Abstract

Human needs are increasing in the world of transportation, especially for two-wheeled vehicles or more. In the automotive world, especially cars, there are various kinds of systems that work. These systems work in conjunction with one another so that if one of these systems is damaged, the car will be damaged. such as damage to the cooling system which can cause overheating of the engine. Overheating is the occurrence of excessive heat above the engine's working temperature which is caused by damage to one of the components of the cooling system. The occurrence of overheating in the Hilux double cabin car engine is caused by a lack of coolant, the thermostat is not functioning properly, the radiator cap is leaking, the inlet and outlet hoses are cracked and the water pump is damaged. To avoid damage, preventive maintenance must be carried out. Check the coolant in the radiator reservoir every 1 week and change the fluid every 80,000 km. Thermostat replacement every 80,000 km. Replacement of radiator caps every 80,000 km. Replacement of inlet and outlet hoses every 80,000 km. Water pump replacement every 80,000 km. and a v-belt replacement every 60,000 km.

Abstract

Briquettes are solid fuels derived from biomass waste obtained from the compression of the shaped powdered material. This study aims to obtain the physical characteristics and flame characteristics of leaf briquettes of Javanese bamboo (Gigantochloa Apus) and ori bamboo (Bambusa Arundinacea). The method used in this research is varying the pressing load of 5 kg, 10 kg, 15 kg, and the size of the briquette powder (particles) of 20, 40, 60, a cylinder-shaped mold with a diameter of 38 mm and an inner hole diameter of 9 mm. The analysis includes the characteristics of the fire products (area, color and temperature) and the surface morphology of the briquettes. The pressing load affects the characteristics of the resulting flame. The results showed that the type of bamboo, the size of the biomass particles and the pressing load affected the characteristics of the flame.

Abstract

The landing gear of the Airbus A330 aircraft uses a green hydraulic system, which is currently still found several leaks which result in a decrease in flight safety because the propulsion force on the landing gear does not function normally so it must use the freefall system when landing. This study analyzes the events that cause leaks of the flexible hose system, swivel valve and pitch trimmer. Flexible hose in Aircraft's Maintenance Manual has no limitations when a rapture occurs, while for swivel and pitch trimmers there are still limitations so that research is more directed towards the causes of leaks in flexible hoses. The hydraulic system leak data was taken in January 2020 – December 2020 with a total of 49 cases of leaking hydraulic system cases in the landing gear area, where flexible hose has a very high leakage rate compared to other cases. To identify the causes of hydraulic system leaks, this study uses ultrasonic internal leak measurement tools and hydraulic fluid analysis methods. Internal leak is used to determine hydraulic flow, while fluid analysis is to determine contamination of hydraulic fluid. In measuring the internal leak, the results are satisfied so that it is known that the flow rate is not the cause of the leak. While in fluid analysis measurements, from 10 registrations there were 5 registrations that obtained particle contamination results. Improvement progress using the PDCA method is expected to reduce the level of risk of leakage in the hydraulic system by making an engineering order (EO).

Abstract

Biogas is gas produced by bacteria when organic matter undergoes a fermentation process under anaerobic conditions, and will produce methane gas which is temporarily stored in a container called a biogas bag. The biogas bag needs to be controlled to ensure the biogas bag remains safe. The control system is in the form of a two-position control because it has the advantage of being cheap and simple, besides that the solenoid valve as an actuator has a non-linear output property. To detect the capacity of the biogas bag, the HCSR-04 proximity sensor is used as feedback on the set point value that is set, which is 50 cm for the maximum set point and 30 cm for the minimum set point. The results obtained by the proximity sensor is able to read the distance with an accuracy of 5.8% and the On-Off control has a response of 0.25 seconds.

Abstract

Strength, toughness, machinability and damping capacity are properties of compacted graphite iron thatdistinguish the properties between flake graphite cast iron and spheroidal cast iron. The formation of compactedgraphite can be set to achieve the required specification. The formation of compacted graphite is started fromspheroidal to compacted cast iron. The residual magnesium after magnesium treatment and the solidification ratehave a significant role in the formation of compacted graphite. The high content of residual magnesium canobstruct the graphite plane to grow during the transformation from spheroidal to compacted shape. In addition,the cooling rate of the casting can be controlled by varying the casting thickness. The compacted graphite in thecast iron are characterized according to shape, size ai`nd distribution. The optimum compacted graphite in thecast iron that can be produced has 30 mm of casting thickness with 0.017 % of residual magnesium.

Abstract

The natural gas potential in Indonesia can be used to support the renewability of alternative fuels for motorcycles.LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) is one of the Gas Fuel products that can be used as fuel to replace the use of OilFuel. Therefore, an energy conversion tool is needed to utilize LPG as a motorcycle energy source. The purposeof this research is to design and manufacture a gas motor converter kit. This converter kit has three technologies,such as 1) a fuel distribution system that uses a manual fuel faucet so that the fuel distribution process is better,2) there is a solenoid valve that functions to cut off gas flow when the vehicle stop without removing the regulatoron the fuel tube, and 3) the position of the gas fuel tube is under the motorcycle seat so that it is safer. The researchmethod using VDI2221 (Verein Deutcher Ingenieure). The research result is the creation of converter kits thatare made through the design process, turning process, milling process, welding process, and assembling process.The research conclusion obtained is that the converter kits that have been made can be implemented on 100ccmotorcycles, and no leaks or defects were found in the converter kits, so the tool can be used properly on 100ccmotorcycles.

Abstract

The characteristic of fluid flow and heat transfer on a circular cylinder with particular pattern is frequently used in various branches of modern technology today. The amount of heat transfer when fluid cureent passes through circular cylinder is expressed by Nusselt number parameter, eiter local Nusselt number (NuФ) or average Nusselt number. Forced convection heat transfer on the circular cylinder with a staggered-type of using Reynolds number (ReD) varied as the value of 80, 200, 5000 while the tranverse pitch (2D, 2D). The fluid inlet temperature entering shell is 350 oK and the tube temperature is 300 oK, which is modeled whith Gambit 2.4.6 and simulated using Fluent 6.3.26 whith turbulent model k- SST 2D steady-flow to obtain data related to the velocity profile and temperature distribution. From the simulation results obtained visualization contour of velocity, temperature and Nusselt number distribution. The smallest Nusselt value is at ReD 80 then ReD 200 and the highest is at ReD 5000.

Abstract

PT XXX merupakan suatu perusahaan yang bergerak di bidang manufaktur kertas dan karton. Converting Plant merupakan salah satu plant yang ada di perusahaan tersebut bergerak di bidang manufaktur carton box atau biasa kita kenal kardus kemasan. Pada plant tersebut terdapat suatu kompresor sentrifugal yang merupakan equipment sangat kritikal karena kompresor tersebut mengalirkan udara bertekanan ke semua mesin produksi yang ada di plant. Kebutuhan produksi yang tinggi pada plant tersebut, kompresor hanya dilakukan perbaikan jika ada kerusakan pada komponen-komponennya tanpa dilakukan analisis lebih lanjut kinerja kompresor sebelum terjadinya penurunan kinerja serta analisis penggunaan energi motor listrik dan penyimpangan penggunaan energi motor listrik. Tujuan utama dari penelitian ini yaitu menganalisis penurunan kinerja kompresor dan pemborosan energi motor listrik kompresor berdasarkan parameter-parameter yang ada di kompresor. Nilai efisiensi isentropik terendah ada di angka 0.82 dan 0.83 dengan penggunaan energi listrik sebesar 384.30 kW dan 383.1 kW. Nilai beban operasi tertinggi ada di nilai 86.9% dengan penggunaan energi listrik sebesar 384.30 kW. Nilai beban operasi terendah ada di angka 85% dengan penggunaan energi listrik sebesar 371.67 kW. Nilai optimum penggunaan energi listrik ada pada efisiensi isentropik 0.98-0.99 dan beban operasi 85% - 85.3% yaitu 371.67 - 372.15 kW.
