Abstract

The incidence of infection is one of the causes of death and morbidity which results in a decline in the quality of hospital services. One of the most important units in providing health services in a hospital is the Emergency Room (IGD) which provides initial or follow-up treatment for sick or injured patients that could threaten the patient's survival. The density and increase in patients in the ER is serious and can cause negative effects such as increasing the risk of contracting infections, especially in emergency patients. Based on WHO data, it was found that 61% of health workers did not comply with hand hygiene.: This type of research is descriptive observational research. Sampling in this study used non-probability sampling with total sampling technique. The research instrument used was a hand hygiene observation sheet based on the WHO hand hygiene compliance sheet with univariate data analysis. From the research results, it was found that the hand hygiene compliance rate for staff in the ER was classified as very good with hand hygiene achieved at 94%. The Emergency Department (IGD) is the front guard in providing health services to patients with emergency conditions and must continue to pay attention to patient safety principles, one of which is by implementing hand hygiene to prevent the risk of transmission of infection due to the health services provided.

Abstract

Indonesia is a country that dominated by tropical rainforests with adequate rainfall. These conditions allow various plant species to thrive. One such plant is water apple (Syzygium aqueum). The use of water apple leaf extract as an antibacterial agent has garnered attention due to the increasing trend of bacterial resistance againts antibiotics. The aim of this study is to describe the antibacterial effects of water apple (Syzygium aqueum) leaf extract on several bacterial species by observing the diameter of the inhibition zone. The method employed is a systematic review. Article searches were conducted through databases such as PubMed Central, ScienceDirect, Google Scholar, and Garuda. The journal selection and formulation of research questions were guided by the PICO method. Article searches followed the 2020 PRISMA methodology. The article search yielded six articles reviewed from a total of 9,911 articles identified. The findings from the reviewed articles indicate that water apple leaf extract (Syzygium aqueum) exhibits antibacterial effects on both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. The active compounds in water apple leaf extract that exhibit antibacterial properties are flavonoids, terpenoids, saponins, tannins, and alkaloids.

Abstract

Introduction: High blood sugar can cause neuropathy and peripheral artery disease, reducing sensation in the limbs and leading to diabetic foot ulcers (DFU), about 30% of diabetics develop DFU. The purpose of this study was to analyze the intervention of home foot temperature monitoring in patients with diabetic foot ulcers (DFU). Methods: using the PICO formulation to conduct a literature search collection of materials from databases such as PubMed, Google Scholar, and science direct. The search was conducted using relevant keywords, and focused on articles published between 2021 and 2024 according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results: Low compliance in reducing activities after detecting hotspots hinders ulcer prevention, especially in those with high self-care scores. Home foot temperature monitoring is ineffective without activity reduction, requiring behavioral changes and a comprehensive approach. Sensor-based smart footwear better prevents ulcers by reducing plantar pressure, while telehealth and interactive dashboards enhance patient monitoring and communication for more efficient care. Conclusion: The articles stress combining behavior change and technology to prevent diabetic foot ulcers. Low activity reduction limits effectiveness, but smart footwear aids prevention, while telehealth improves monitoring and communication, highlighting integrated solutions.
