Abstract

This research aims to (1) to determine the effectiveness of the discovery learning model based on the STEM approach on the critical thinking skills of junior high school students in grade VII on the Solar System material, and (2) to analyze the discovery learning model based on the STEM approach in improving the critical thinking skills of junior high school students. The design of this study uses mixed methods simultaneously. The discovery learning model Based on the STEM Approach is applied to the experimental class and the discovery learning model is applied to the control class. Data collection was carried out by critical thinking skills tests and non-tests in the form of observations and interviews. The data analysis technique used in this study uses normality and homogeneity tests. The hypothesis was tested using an independent sample t test using N-Gain%.  The results showed that there was a difference in the average increase in the pretest and posttest scores of students' critical thinking skills in the Solar System material by using the N-Gain% test in the control class by 18.69% and the experimental class by 34.47%. From the results of the independent t-test hypothesis test using NGain% with the help of the SPSS 32 application, the value of sig 2 tailed was obtained as 0.003 <0.05 and t calculated > t table (3.063 > 2.988), then it can be decided that H1 is accepted. Therefore, it can be concluded that the discovery learning model based on the STEM approach has a positive effect on improving the critical thinking skills of junior high school students.

Abstract

Chemistry learning is not only focused on mastering concepts and cognitive skills, but also holds significant potential in shaping and developing students' character values. This literature review aims to analyze various approaches and strategies in chemistry   education   that   integrate   character   values   such   as   responsibility, collaboration,  honesty,  and  environmental  awareness.  The  findings  indicate  that contextual  approaches,  project-based  learning,  and  the  integration  of  values  in laboratory experiments are effective methods for instilling character values. Therefore, chemistry teachers need to design learning that is not only oriented toward academic outcomes but also toward character development as part of holistic education.

Abstract

Science learning in elementary school requires an approach that helps students develop a deep and meaningful understanding. This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of integrating the Predict-Observe-Explain (POE) learning model with a deep learning approach in improving the learning outcomes of fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 9 Pendopo Barat. The research used experimental method and one group pretest-postest design. The participants were 28 students, consisting of 14 girls and 14 boys. Data were collected through a pre-test before the intervention and a posttest afterward. The pre-test results showed an average score of 62.07, with 42.86% of students meeting the minimum learning criteria. After the learning activities, the average post-test score increased to 77.46, with 89.29% of students achieving mastery. This improvement suggests a positive impact from using the POE model combined with the Deep Learning approach, which includes mindful, meaningful, and joyful learning. These results indicate that the strategy effectively enhances learning outcomes and encourages active student engagement in science lessons. Therefore, this approach is recommended for science education at the elementary level.

Abstract

Abstract: The aim of this research is to develop Flipped Digital media as a learning medium at SMP Negeri 5 Jombang on the subject of the human respiratory system. The research uses the ADDIE development model which is an abbreviation for Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation. The Flipped Digital media was developed, validation and practicality tests were carried out to measure the suitability of the learning media. Validation tests were carried out by media and material expert lecturers and science teachers, then practicality tests were carried out by distributing student response questionnaires. The results of the research show that the Flipped Digital learning media on the human respiratory system material was declared very valid by the validators with a percentage of 97.31. Meanwhile, based on the results of the student response questionnaire. Flipped Digital media was stated to be very practical with a percentage of 95.28. Thus, it can be concluded that Flipped Digital media is declared very valid and practical, so it is suitable for use in learning.

Abstract

Laboratories have an important role in science learning because by carrying out practicum activities, students get a direct learning experience in understanding the material being studied. The student worksheet (LKPD) developed in this study is a simple practicum activity that can be carried out even with inadequate laboratory facilities. The purpose of this study is to develop a student worksheet on conduction, convection and radiation heat transfer material for grade VII. This research method uses the Research and Development method with the ADDIE development model. The results of the validation assessment by experts showed a percentage of 90.90% and an average score of 360 with very feasible criteria.
