Abstract

Word of mouth regarding traditional cuisine is an effective marketing strategy for introducing a business brand to potential customers, as it originates from consumers who share their firsthand experiences of trying the product. Recommendations based on personal experience are considered more trustworthy and authentic than digital advertisements. The purpose of this study is to examine the word-of-mouth process at the Kue Cucur Endolita Barokah SME in building brand identity. The research method employed a descriptive qualitative approach through in-depth interviews with the business owner, resellers, customers, and consumers to examine the word-of-mouth processes and strategies in shaping the brand identity of Kue Cucur Endolita Barokah. The results of the study indicate that word of mouth has proven highly effective in building the brand identity of Kue Cucur Endolita Barokah through the implementation of five interrelated elements of word of mouth, namely: credible talkers, such as resellers, customers, and family members; topics of discussion that focus on texture, taste, and authentic palm sugar (gula aren) as the main ingredient; tools of communication that include direct interaction and WhatsApp; taking part, which involves direct communication and WhatsApp interactions with quick responses and friendly service; and tracking, that is, relationship management through the maintenance of good connections with consumers. Furthermore, the role of word of mouth extends beyond being merely a promotional tool; it also serves to strengthen brand image and affirm the authenticity of the product.

Abstract

This study examines the determinants of financial distress in mining companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), with export dependence as a moderating variable. The research focuses on internal financial factors including liquidity, leverage, profitability, and firm growth as well as firm size as a control variable, to explain variations in financial distress. In addition, export dependence on major trading partners is introduced to assess its moderating role in strengthening or weakening the relationship between profitability and financial distress. A quantitative approach is employed using secondary data from annual financial reports of 22 mining companies over the 2021–2024 period, yielding 88 firm-year observations. The analysis was conducted using Structural Equation Modeling based on Partial Least Squares (PLS-SEM) via SmartPLS software. The results indicate that liquidity has a significant positive effect on financial distress, while leverage has a significant negative effect. Profitability shows a significant positive relationship with financial distress, whereas firm growth has no significant effect. Export dependence significantly moderates the relationship between profitability and financial distress, strengthening the impact of profitability on financial stability. Meanwhile, firm size does not significantly influence financial distress. The study concludes that financial distress in mining companies is primarily driven by internal financial performance, while external dependency on export markets plays a critical moderating role. These findings highlight the importance of financial resilience and export market structure in mitigating corporate financial risk.

Abstract

Investment efficiency is a critical determinant of corporate value creation, particularly in capital-intensive industries such as shipping, where strategic capital allocation directly affects long-term competitiveness. However, investment decisions are often influenced by corporate governance mechanisms and financial policies, including tax avoidance, audit quality, board size, managerial ownership, and profitability. This study aims to examine the effects of tax avoidance, audit quality, board size, and managerial ownership on investment efficiency, while investigating the moderating role of profitability. A quantitative research design was employed using secondary panel data collected from 25 shipping companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during the 2021–2024 period, yielding 100 firm-year observations. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, classical assumption tests, multiple linear regression, and Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA). The findings reveal that tax avoidance significantly enhances investment efficiency, whereas audit quality, board size, and managerial ownership do not exert significant direct effects. Profitability significantly strengthens the relationships between tax avoidance, managerial ownership, and board size with investment efficiency but does not moderate the relationship between audit quality and investment efficiency. The regression model is statistically significant and explains 30.2% of the variation in investment efficiency. These findings highlight the importance of strategic tax management and profitability in improving investment efficiency while emphasizing the need to strengthen governance effectiveness beyond structural corporate mechanisms.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the improvement of public services through digitalization at the Cirebon Regency Population and Civil Registration Office (DIDUKCAPIL) through the PADUKA website. The problem is that PADUKA ‘s performance is not fully optimal, as seen from the uneven distribution of service access between villages, the limited number of operators, and technical distruptions from the system or center that affect the speed of the application process. This study aims to evaluate the performance of the PADUKA website in improving public services, identify challenges faced, and assess public satisfaction with the quality and accessibility of PADUKA services. The method used is qualitative research with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out thematically based on six dimensions of performance evaluation, namely effectiveness, efficiency, adequacy, equity, responsiveness, and accuracy. The results of the study show that PADUKA services are easier for residents and help save time and costs compared to manual services. However, equal access remains a challenge. PADUKA needs to be continuously maintained and improved through socialization, adding operators, improving technical infrastructure, and increasing response in handling distruptions so that services run more consistently.
