Abstract

The increasingly competitive nature of the cosmetics and household goods industry demands companies to manage their capital structure effectively in order to enhance profitability. However, empirical findings regarding the influence of capital structure on firm performance remain inconsistent, creating the need for further investigation. This study aims to analyze the relationship between capital structure—proxied by the Debt to Equity Ratio (DER) and Debt to Asset Ratio (DAR)—and profitability, measured using Return on Assets (ROA), in cosmetic and household goods sub-sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange during the 2020–2024 period. This research employs a quantitative approach using the Partial Least Square (PLS) method, with data processed through SmartPLS version 4. The results show that DER has a positive and significant effect on ROA, with an original sample value of 0.859 and a P-value of 0.000 (P < 0.05). Likewise, DAR also has a positive and significant effect on ROA, with an original sample value of 0.182 and a P-value of 0.000 (P < 0.05). These findings indicate that increasing the proportion of debt within the capital structure can enhance firm profitability. Overall, the results support the trade-off theory, which asserts that the optimal use of debt can strengthen firm performance and improve profitability.

Abstract

The underlying problem of this research is the limited empirical evidence regarding the effectiveness of green accounting implementation in increasing company value, especially when linked to the role of financial performance as an intervening variable. This study aims to analyze the effect of green accounting on company value with financial performance as an intervening variable in energy and industrial sector companies during the 2020–2024 period. The research method uses a quantitative approach with Partial Least Square (PLS) analysis techniques through the SmartPLS application. The research sample consisted of 21 energy and industrial sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during the 2020–2024 observation period and were selected through a purposive sampling method. The results show that green accounting has a positive and significant effect on financial performance and company value. However, the key finding of this study is that financial performance does not significantly affect company value and is unable to mediate the relationship between green accounting and company value. Thus, although green accounting practices can directly improve financial performance and market perception, this improvement in financial performance does not act as a bridge between the influence of green accounting practices on company value. This finding confirms that investors respond more directly to environmental commitments, rather than through changes in financial performance as an intermediary.

Abstract

The Food & Beverage (F&B) industry relies heavily on the quality and performance of human resources, making the compensation system implemented by a company a crucial factor in maintaining employee motivation and performance. However, non-transparent compensation practices are still prevalent and can create uncertainty and perceptions of unfairness in the workplace. This study aims to analyze the effect of a non-transparent compensation system on employee motivation and performance at PT Jakspan Sentra Batam. The study used a quantitative approach with a causality method, involving 84 respondents selected through simple random sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed through simple linear regression. The results showed that non-transparent compensation had a positive effect on employee motivation (r = 0.618; p <0.00) and performance (r = 0.604; p <0.00). This finding confirms that although compensation remains a driver of motivation and performance, low levels of transparency can hinder its effectiveness. Therefore, companies need to increase transparency in the compensation system to promote fairness, build trust, and optimize employee motivation and performance in the long term. When companies provide clear, fair, and consistent compensation information, employees feel more understood and valued, which motivates them to perform better. This transparency has not only psychological but also behavioral impacts, reflected in increased productivity and performance.

Abstract

Government policies often play a crucial role in shaping market sentiment and influencing investor behavior, especially in emerging capital markets. This study examines how Indonesia's Free Nutritious Meal Program (MBG), announced in 2024–2025, affected stock performance in the Fish, Meat, and Poultry sub-sector listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). Using an event study approach with a 10-day observation window (t-5 to t+4, where t0 is the official announcement date), we applied the Kolmogorov-Smirnov normality test and Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test to evaluate changes in Abnormal Return (AR), Trading Volume Activity (TVA), and Abnormal Trading Volume Activity (ATVA).Results show that abnormal returns remained relatively stable with a mean of -0.002805 before the event and -0.000361 after (p-value = 0.680 > 0.05), indicating no statistically significant change. Similarly, TVA and ATVA showed no abnormal patterns (p-value = 0.159 > 0.05). These findings suggest that the MBG announcement did not contain sufficient information content to trigger a significant short-term market reaction, reflecting semi-strong form market efficiency in Indonesia's capital market. Investors appear to perceive the program's direct impact on equity values as limited or delayed, with potential effects realized only in the long term.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the growing consumer behavior in food and beverage spending and the increasing role of Google Maps as an e-WOM platform influencing purchasing decisions. This research aims to examine the effect of Google Maps ratings and reviews on consumers’ purchasing decisions at Arch Alley Restaurant Batam. A quantitative approach with a causal associative design was employed, involving 111 respondents selected through purposive sampling. The research instrument was tested using validity and reliability tests, followed by classical assumption tests including normality, multicollinearity, and heteroscedasticity. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression, supported by t-tests to assess partial effects and an F-test to evaluate simultaneous influence. The findings indicate that both rating and review significantly and positively affect purchasing decisions, with rating being the most dominant variable. Overall, the results highlight the essential role of digital reputation in shaping consumer decisions and strengthening customer loyalty.

Abstract

This study investigates the use of Super Juice as a substitute for fresh orange juice in sustainable mixology. The research employed a quantitative experimental method with a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of two treatments: fresh orange juice and Super Juice. Sensory evaluation was conducted by 30 panelists trained, semi-trained, and untrained who assessed color, aroma, taste, and texture using a five-point hedonic scale. Data were analyzed with the Mann Whitney U test in SPSS 19. The findings indicate no significant differences (p > 0.05) between the two samples across all sensory attributes. However, fresh orange juice showed slightly higher scores in color and taste, while Super Juice performed better in aroma and texture due to its acid-assisted extraction method. Overall, Super Juice obtained a marginally higher mean score, suggesting it can serve as an effective alternative that supports sustainable mixology by enhancing efficiency and reducing citrus waste..

Abstract

This study provides a detailed descriptive analysis of the demographic profile and self-reported psychological resources essential for entrepreneurship among a cohort of nascent university graduates in Padang, West Sumatra, Indonesia. Facing increasing structural unemployment challenges, a sample of 150 fresh graduate entrepreneurs from state universities in Padang was examined. The analysis focused on descriptive statistics for key constructs: Entrepreneurial Resilience (R), Internal Locus of Control (ILOC), Achievement Motivation (AM), Materialism Motivation (MM), and Entrepreneurial Self-Efficacy (ESE). The findings reveal a highly persistent, dual-motivated (intrinsic mastery and extrinsic financial) cohort, with Materialism Motivation and Achievement Motivation items registering the highest mean scores. Conversely, while still high, self-efficacy in specific outcomes (ESE) demonstrated the lowest comparative mean. This descriptive insight highlights the strong, pragmatic drive—necessitated by the competitive urban environment—that underpins the pursuit of entrepreneurship in this emerging market. This paper establishes a crucial psychological profile for this demographic, offering foundational data for future intervention design and policy formulation.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of Fear of FOMO (Fear of missing out) on consumer purchase intention at Café Common Space Batam. FOMO is a psychological phenomenon that manifests as an individual’s urge to follow ongoing trends and avoid the feeling of being left behind. This research applies a quantitative associative-causal approach with a population consisting of all visitors of Common Space Batam over the past six months. The sample size was determined using the Slovin formula with a 10% margin of error, setting the minimum number of respondents at 100, while this study successfully collected 107 valid responses. Data were gathered through a five-point Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using simple linear regression. The findings indicate that FOMO has a positive and significant effect on consumers’ purchase intention, with a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.777 and a significance value of 0.000 (<0.05). These results contribute theoretically to the development of consumer behavior studies and provide practical insights for food and beverage business practitioners in utilizing social media as an effective marketing strategy.

Abstract

The development of social media, particularly Instagram, has driven many cafes to create attractive and Instagrammable interior designs to capture visitor’s attention. Aesthetic interiors now serve not only as decorative elements but also as part of a lifestyle and an indirect promotional medium. This phenomenon encouraged the researcher to examine the influence of Instagrammable interior design on customer satisfaction at Rubeka Coffee Shop Batam. This study employed a quantitative approach using the Structural Equation Modeling – Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) method through the SmartPLS4 application, involving 100 respondents who were customers of Rubeka Coffee Shop Batam. The analysis results show that all indicators met the convergent validity test outer loading and AVE values > 0.5, and reliability tests with Cronbach’s Alpha and Composite Reliability values > 0.7. The R-Square value was 0.738, indicating that 73,8% of customer satisfaction is explained by Instagrammable interior design. Furthermore, the path coefficient value of 0.859, T-statistic of 21.066, and P-value of 0.000 confirm a positive and significant effect. This study emphasizes that an attractive and aesthetic interior design not only enhances the visual appeal of a space but also contributes significantly to customer satisfaction.
